    setback today. forceful vomiting.

Make sure you talk to your doctor. Sounds like it could also be a stricture.
  2. I usually get that same feeling. I always want to brush my teeth as soon as I am done drinking. Not sure what it is from.

    My appetite has not decreased?

I felt that same way at that time. It did get better. But, I am much hungier than I thought I was going to be. They kept telling me I wasn't going to feel hungry. But, I get REALLY hungry and have to eat to be OK. I never experienced hunger like this pre-surgery. Maybe because I fed my stomach so much.

creamy soups/blendarized soups post op day 5

I did an egg easy over - yolk very runny - put it in my little baby food blender with some chicken broth and it tasted really good.
  5. I am exactly 2 wks PostOp today. My doctor put me on pureed food on day 3. Which is going well. I had my first post-op follow-up appt yesterday and all is going well so far. Was told that I could move to the soft food phase in 2-3 weeks if I am eating at least 1/4 cup of pureed food. But, I am starting to have some wishful dreams of salad and a good cup of coffee. I did wean myself off of caffeinated coffee before surgery - but, still deeply enjoyed that 1 cup of decaf first thing in the morning. I think I read somewhere that salads might not be in my future ever again - too hard to digest. Has anyone had a salad at some point and been OK? Also, do any of you drink decaf coffee?

    Gas pains

That was when I started those nasty gas pains also. It did get better when I was able to get back on Nexium which I was on before surgery. They have gotten better during eating now. Hang in there!

    Pictures of last 2 dinners

So nice to see someone is eating real food. So, you are 6 wks Post-Op - I am 2 wks tomorrow and I can barely get 2 tbsp of pureed food down right now. But, I do get hungy in a couple of hours. So, I am thinking lots of little tiny meals. Thanks for the pics.

    spaghetti

I have had some cravings for that kind of thing - I am only 2 wks Post-Op. But, I know I could not have it until at least 4-6 months out. Maybe, just make a poached egg and blend it up with a teaspoon of spagetti sauce. But, you should really be eating just pureed food right now. Or you will pay for it.

    Therapy

I made a decision to start therapy also. I am only 2 wks out - so, I am going to wait until I feel just a bit better physically. But, then I think handling the mental is going to make this journey so much more worthwhile. I appauld you for taking the step!

Why oh why did I do this to myself?

Boy, I don't even know what to say. I am 2 wks out from my sleeve surgery and just had my first post op Doctor's appt. I told him that I was at the stage of "buyer's remorse" but, to ask me again in 6 months. I know why I did it and during this 2 wks there were times - I had no clue. But, I would never do this for 45 lbs. It must have been really important to you - so keep remembering that.

    Need sleeve buddies!

I was sleeved on 7/5. Almost to my 2 week mark. Got off to a rough start - but, doing so much better now. Thinking on going back to work next Monday. I also need to have someone to reach out to during this journey.
  12. My little dog didn't come home until I was 8 days post-op - he sensed something immediately wasn't right with me. He hasn't don't any jumping one bit on me - just lays at my feet. But, he is 10 and not as frisky. I love the pillow suggestions. I have not sneezed yet since surgery and I can see having one handy will be a good idea.

    Had my sleeve done yesterday

I am only 11 days out from my surgery so I remember where you are right now. It does get better every single day. I didn't have a drainage tube so I didn't have to deal with that. But, I did have to have a foley catheter put in and they had wanted me to go home with it. I refused. They took it out and I was fine. I am a bit "old school" I guess when it comes to hospital stays. You don't stay in until you are better anymore. You stay in just long enough to just be stable. And it seems they try to push that even. Most of us would say to take your pain med as often as you possibly can - don't try to "brave it". Besides it just makes the pain tolerable - doesn't take it away. But, that get better - I promise. On the day that you are at right now, I kept saying to myself - "What have I done!!" I should have never done this. But, that feeling does go away. My prayers for a speedy recovery are with you. Insomnia!?!?

Well, after I wrote my post, I did go into bed and decided to take 1/2 Ambian pill. I was able to sleep for 5 hours. That was the longest I have slept since my surgery 11 days ago. It was a very tiny pill to start with so breaking it in half made it extremely small. Wasn't quite sure how something that tiny was going to do anything - but, it did. I would feel the jittery feeling I was feeling because of the pain medication go away. Give that a try with your doctor's approval of course.

    Insomnia!?!?

This has been good for me to read - I am 10 days post op and not sleeping as much as I did the first few days but still can't sleep more than 3 hours at a time. I usually don't have any troubles falling asleep - as a matter of fact, I will just plain go to sleep wherever I am. But, I wake up in 2-3 hours. I went to bed at 9PM this evening after only having 1 nap during the day which ended at 11:30AM - I was SO tired so I thought I would maybe sleep the night - no way. Here I am up for and hour or 2 again. It is not worrisome right now - but, next week when I am suppose to be back to work - it will cause a problem.
  16. I had my VSG on 7/5. Had complications with bleeding so didn't get home until 7/9. I still am in a very strange sleep pattern. I never sleep more than 3-4 hours at a time. I usually wake up and need to stay up for a while around 4AM. I also need to eat my "breakfast" around that time. Feel kind of hungery and light headed at that time and eating and having a dose of my pain medication does help me to feel better. Then starts my pattern - sleep 3 hours - stay up a bit - eat - drink - take pain medication - walk a bit - sleep 3 hours, ect. I tried yesterday to cut down on my pain med - but, ended up with lots of pain in my hernia repair incision area. (Which was discovered at the time of my surgery) I am telling my boss that I should be able to be back to work next Monday - but, not sure how I can do that with this pattern. Any suggestions?

I am tired and with upper back pain

I also have pain in my upper back - mostly across the back not the front. My understanding is that it is the gas that was used during our surgery working it's way out. I also only get it at certain times - don't have it all the time. So, I think what you are experiencing will eventually go away.

    Im so thirsty !

I am in the same boat that you are - It is good to see that we will be able to drink larger drinks of water in the not so distant future.

    Sick

I am a firm believer that if something is bothering us and we feel sick - going to the doctor is NEVER being a wimp As far as I am concerned, anyone that goes through this procedure IS NOT A WIMP! We are tough. I am so sorry that you don't feel well - I didn't feel well one week from today. I did get better.

    Bras

I am having the same problem. It isn't such an issue until I need to go back to work in a week. I am huge so a bra is a must. I am thinking I will need to break down and buy a larger size bra to give me more wiggle room and help the problem.

    NSV- I could cry! :0D

Great story! I can't believe you can do that at just 5 wks out. Nice job! That is definately on my list of "things" I will be looking forward to.

    Gas (fart)

My surg was on 7/5 - I had and still have LOTS of that noise from my stomach. Sometimes it feels like hunger rumbles and other times it is just noise like before diarrhea. But, I actually do have diarrhea. I have had it since day 3.
  23. VSGJourneyGrandma

Any have a hole in your diaphragm?

My surgeon found one in me also. Never knew I had it - but, my was fixed like a hernia. Your procedure sounds interesting!
  24. VSGJourneyGrandma

Day 4 starting to get hungry!

That is about the same time that I started to feel hungry again. My surg was on 7/5 - when I went to the pureed diet - even though I was only eating 1 tbsp at a meal - it did help. I found that during that period when I couldn't eat "food" - the sugar-free popsicles worked very well. You will do great!
  25. VSGJourneyGrandma

    Light headed

I am 1 week post-op and on pureed foods. I started to feel stronger when I moved to that phase. I also found that the sugar-free popsicles soothed my stomach. Now they are my best friend!
