You need to go to your bariatric surgeon and let him fill you. Only a complete fool would even consider doing it themselves.

Well, if hormones have something to do with it, then that's got to be the answer for me. I'm completely estrogen depleted (total hysterectomy last year), and cannot take HT for more than two weeks; turns me into a crazy person. I don't eat as much fruit & veggies with C as I did pre-band, so I may have to add some extra to my regime. Thanks for the info

I have been really struggling for a long time, a year at least. I lost all my excess weight and gained a lot of it back. I had a colonoscopy and to prepare had to do a 2 day clear liquid diet. That was Mon. and Tue. I decided to use it to kick start a healthy eating pattern. So far it has worked. I have been eating well and working out. I think I saw that I could tolerate some hunger and not give in. I also got my act together in terms of a clean house, laundry done, healthy food in the house et... That seems to help me stay on track eating wise. I weighed myself yesterday for the first time in months, I just couldn't handle seeing the number. After a few days of being "good" I got on. The weight was the lowest I was hoping for so that was great. I am eating the way I will for the rest of my life. I think I have finally realized what I've known in my head, lifestyle change.

I really thought my first NSV would be finally buttoning up my favorite pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear in over a year. I keep trying, but ... no luck yet!
But I did however realize today that since being banded two months ago, I have not once gone to the dollar store to buy candy!!
I used to go to the dollar store on a weekly basis (at the very least) and buy about $5 worth of candy. And if you've ever been to the dollar store, you'll know that is a lot of candy. I would start eating it in the car on the way home, and I'd keep eating it until it was gone. Doing some simple math ... five boxes of candy, 7 servings or so per box, that makes, uh, 35 servings of candy a week!!
But, I have not even had the desire to go out and buy candy. My intense food cravings have almost vanished, and when I do have something sweet, I definitely find it far sweeter than I used to. I am so proud that I'm finally candy free!

I am sitting here eating a yogurt after three weeks (2 pre op and 1 post op) of Protein Shakes only. It feels pretty insane how much I am loving each bite of this yogurt. I don't think anyone would understand except for those on this site.

I had a little visit with my nutritionist yesterday. He was super pleased with my weight loss over the last 4 months (40 lbs) and did some fast calculations and announced..."You've lost 31% of your excess body weight."
    Woah.
I like the way that sounded. And...it was a totally new perspective on how far I've come.
So if you are struggling with numbers on the scale run that little calculation and see where you are at...you might surprise yourself.

My experience had been that the green zone changes-by the day, by the week, by the minute sometimes. In my case, it changes with the weather, how much sodium I've eaten, how my allergies are doing and by the time of the month and sometimes it just changes for no rhyme or reason. Instead of wasting too much time worrying about whether I'm in the green zone or not, I just try to make good choices, eat enough Protein and drink enough Water. It sure sounds like you are doing things the right way- like eating by measured amounts instead of eating until you are full.
    Keep up the good work!

Call your doctor and ask because they all seem to have different instructions. Plus, only he knows of any limitations or necessities specific to your health needs.

CALM down! Go back to following your surgeon's rules. I am sure that you will be okay! But know that "slider" foods can sabotage your weightloss just as much as overeating! Back away from the chips, gold fish, pretzels, ice cream, etc.!Best wishes. Karen

    Greetings,
Ive been a long time lurker, but have never chosen to post. I'm quite the intellectual type and an introvert also. For a little back round info, I'm a 36 yr old male the size and build of your average retired NFL defensive end. Until recently I was able to compete at the NFL combine strength levels, but injuries have forver changed how I'll be able to work out. Over time, my weight just kept growing due to my huge calorie intake to feed my growing muscles. On average 5-6000 calories per day. In the end, I was just not able to burn the fat down again after yrs of trying to grow. I opted to the band for help. I started this process a yr ago and finally admitted defeat on my own 2 months ago.
I started my 2 week liquid diet on July 28th at 309 and surgery is slated for Aug 13. Since then, I am down 21 lbs(288) and have a bmi of only 37% now. I'm concerned I'll dip below the magic number of 35%.
Has anyone else lost too much weight pre-op? Has anyone been disqualified?
Thanks in advance for any experiences you could provide.

debee reacted to Amberley in Are my scales broken or do I need glasses????
I have been stuck at 123kilos (270 pounds) for about 9 days. Using myfitnesspal.com to track calories and exercising as instructed. My scales were staying as still as a deer in headlights. Have not been to upset as I have been losing inches and my clothes are fitting better. Today I got on the scale expecting the same results. Ugh???? Are the scales broken? Has old age finally hit my eyes? Do I need to see the doc about glasses??? I screamed at my husband to come downstairs. (He is a workout aholic and does not need to lose weight however he weighs in with me twice a week as support) He came downstairs and I pointed at the weigh in chart on the wall so that he could see his previous weight. (yep a wall chart that we record our weight on each weigh in. For me visibility is everything) I pushed him on the scales. He was exactly the same as last week. He looked at my crazed eyes and didn't say a thing. (smart man!!) He watched as I stepped on the scales.... 118.3 kilos (roughly 260 pounds)!!!!! Ugh? Is that even possible? We then weighed the dog. She had been to the vet last week so her weight was recorded on her exit papers. Yep she weighed close to the weight on her papers!! 10 pounds in 9 days? Have I lost the plot? Is it even possible? I don't care. I was so excited I immediately came on here and added it to my tracker. I am going to weigh in tomorrow despite it not being weigh in day just to see if it changes. For now my tracker shows the new weight. 48 pounds lost!! Things that weigh 48 pounds:

    a 15-foot canoe
    a 4-year-old child
    an average human leg
    a 13 inch television
    six gallons of Water

I, like many of us, am in bandster hell. And that's ok. It's part of the process and I'm happy to be a bandster. I've lost only 2 pounds in the past 3 weeks BUT...I went through my closet and was able to purge about 6 dresses, 2 pair of pants and a shirt. Felt amazing. Some things totally swallowed me! Also, I am wearing a dress today that a few weeks was a little tight and required a girdle. Today I had to adjust the straps and left that tight girdle at home!! I love listening to my body versus the scale. Maybe bandster hell isn't so bad! Press on friends. It's totally worth the fight!!! Have a blessed day!! ❤
