I'm sure you'll get there soon enough. I never even thought about my fingers slimming down I was truly just focused on the scale. So this was a great reminder that it's about more than the number on that dreaded scale.< /p>

So December 2012 I bought myself a beautiful ring for Christmas. It was a size 9.25. I was banded 5/30/2013 and recently reached my green zone. My ring was feeling loose so when I took it in for inspection I asked to have it resized. I now have a 7.5 ring finger. I know it's not much but I felt awesome.

Well I had one today. My husband and I just joined our local gym today. Im still really nervous about it because I'm overweight it makes me embarrassed. But anyways - you get a free tshirt so I'm like I need a 2x - so she gives me to 2x it was really really big, so she gave me a 1x and it fits. I know this sounds so minimal, but I almost cried. I thought for sure I needed a 2x.

Well I'm happy to say my weight today was 221 making my total weight loss pre band and post banding a total of 200 pounds gone! I got the high five from everyone in the doctors office. I lost 176 pre band and 24 pounds since banding on July 24th! I feel fine since banding! Also found out they used a 10cc band because of my lower weight! Those words and me were never in the same sentence together!! OMG huge first for me. If someone had told me 3 years ago that I'd lose 200 pound I would have rolled on the floor laughing than they'd had to call 911 to get me up! All I can say is God is good, and who says life can't be fantastic at 58! Blessings to one and all!

makemeova36 reacted to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! in Anybody start with an excessive amount to lose?
The way I handled the daunting amount to lose is by focusing on small goals, not the big picture.
For instance, my first goal was to get under 400 pounds. Then, to be under 350. Next, to be under 300 pounds, etc. My most recent goal was to be under 200- which I am now. If I'd had focused on being under 200 back when I weighed over 400, It would've been WAY too overwhelming.
I also found focusing on milestones helpful. Getting under 350 was big because then I officially weighed less than when I had my son in 2002. Being under 280 was big because that was how much I weighed the first time I tried weight watchers. When I got to 231, I was over-joyed because that's how much I weighed when I got pregnant with my now 18 year old daughter.
Same thing with sizes. When I got down to a 26/28, I was over joyed because I could FINALLY shop in stores again. Before that, I could only shop online because clothes weren't sold in 46W or 7x locally. I was excited to get into a size 18 because that's the size I was in when I graduated high school.
Try focusing on the smaller goals and milestones. It makes it much less daunting and feel a lot more obtainable.

makemeova36 reacted to GoingforGoal in Self Doubt: I need a pep talk!
Ahhh yes that voice...the one who not only told us we couldn't do it, but gave us reasons it was ok not to do it today, tomorrow and the next day. You are correct, that voice has a name, self sabotage. This voice was created with our first failed attempt to lose weight and it's been reinforced with every subsequent failure.
I know when we first get the band, the weight typically just melts off with what seems like little effort on our behalf. And than reality hits, oh no we actually have to start controlling our choices again? <Intro self sabotage voice>
It's amazing, there are these milestone we all have for ourselves. My first was under 200, than my original goal of 175, oh and just to be 160=normal weight, than goal etc. Every time I came close to this threshold I had this mental block...can I do it? is it possible? I've wanted to this for so long..is it really happening this time? or this is it, this is where the buck stops..no more loss for me..its just not for me...
Pshhhht- not only did I get pass the threshold I overcame it. But I confess, it happened with each of these monumental milestones. Why? My personal take is that these milestones have significant relevance to us (ie 200 was before kids for me AND its the 100 zone, 175 I remember being a size 14 at this weight..oh what I would do to be a 14 again, 160 lowest weight ever etc). I also remember, as I got older how much harder it was to get to the first goal nontheless 150!!!. These milestones are significant and meaningful. We want them so bad and almost gave up on ever seeing them again. Alas when they come it's almost surreal.
The funny thing is that this doesnt go away. I am 150-155 and want to lose 5 mesely pounds..can I do it...will it happen.. blahblah. How absurd huh. But you know something else 1) those old goals seem so far away and I will never see them again and 2) Ive worked so damn hard to reach all these goals that I'll never let go of my wl.
Just turn to self sabotage voice and say "Voice, you no longer have a say...so shutup before I put a band around your mouth" lol

It's still worth meeting with your doctor, providing an update and talking through things with you, at least for the first year. Just because you have an appointment doesn't mean you need to get a fill.
    Congrats on your success!

If you don't feel like you need a fill then tell the Dr. that you are good and you don't need a fill. They should be asking you how long you go between meals and what your eating at the visit to indicate if you need a fill or not.
If your happy and your losing weight steadily then your good, but please make sure you are getting in the nutrition that you need. That might raise a flag with the Dr. and they might want to take some Fluid out. So try to eat right, even if you have to put a reminder alert to let you know you need to grab some nutrition.

My personal opinion? If it were me, I wouldn't get another fill. It sounds like you're well within the Green Zone. I'd be afraid of any more fills pushing you past your sweet spot and into too tight territory.

My nephew just had an elite military graduation, and I'm happy to report that I was comfortable and HAPPY to have my picture taken while there. 70 pounds ago, I avoided the camera at all costs! I'm not exactly where I want to be, but I've come a long way.

I finally made it. It seems like it took forever. I had my lapband surgery in April of 2012. I lost 60 pounds within the first few months and got down to exactly 200 lbs. Then I found out I was pregnant. I gained 40 lbs back during my pregnancy. Now I finally lost the 40 I gained and made it to ONEDERLAND.

I don't know how anyone can get 1000 calories in?? I average about 600-700 a day. I am eating "good" Proteins..(first choice fish, second chicken, third pork) I do add in a little bit of veg or fruit with my meals. What I recently noticed, I added in more carbs (put my tuna on crackers) and my weight loss seems to have slowed down. To get over my hump, I am going back to no added carbs.
I'm going away to beach with some friends this weekend, AHHHHHH!!! I am bringing all my necessary food. But, weighed in at exactly 200.0 today, and want nothing more than to break 200, so I hope to be a good girl this weekend.....pray through my temptations, and Celebrate what I have done.
    We can do this!!

I had my surgery 5/30/13. Since then I have been in the E.R., had my port site get infected with a hematoma. It is still healing and just Thursday I started getting horrible pains in stomach area. So yes I have questioned my decision to do this to myself. I am only 3 weeks in and I am going through it big time. However, I keep telling myself once this is all over with I'll be even stronger. I get down some days but I always remember I did this for a reason. Good luck!!

I went to go do my favorite thing with the family and friends this evening. We went to watch the races at the dirt track! I had a blast, but everyone was eating my favorite things, nachos and cheese, French fries with cheese and chili, burritos....... Kept asking me want some, and I of course said yes I do, but No thanks. It was so hard to not touch any of it. I just drank my Water and watched the race. So very challenging. All in all I made it through the evening without giving into my indulgences:) I am proud of myself, but it was so hard!
