m.simpson88 got a reaction from zoey1176 in Revision surgery pre op diet
Hello, I had a revision surgery a year ago. The only way I got through the liquid diet was hot beverages. Hot tea and Decaf coffee. Sweetened with calorie free sweetener and if I wanted Creamer I used fat free half and half with sugar free/calorie free flavored syrups. They curbed my hunger and still do. Same for hot Soup and broth. I drank it as hot as I could stand. I tried to also keep myself full off Water. The key is to make sure you try to stay ahead of your hunger with the approved options. Try to consume something every 2-3 hours.

Hello everyone. I finally had surgery this past Monday, 11/18. It took my surgeon a while to get the Lapband out of me because of all the scar tissue that had accumulated. I was supposed to come home yesterday, but I couldn't. I was in so much freaking pain and had so much nausea that I stayed until today. So I sat in my favorite recliner after getting home for about 20 minutes and well, I've been in bed ever since. I knew it was going to be painful, but dang this really hurts. I'm not hungry at all which is the point/purpose. I've lost two pounds so far, and I know that as the swelling, gas, and pain fades, I will continue to get smaller. Yeahhhhh, now I'm excited and happy!

m.simpson88 got a reaction from Migz in 5.5 weeks post lapband to gastric bypass
Hello everyone, I had surgery on 7/16 and was fine up until week 3.5 to week 4. I wasn’t able to get my Water in or food down without throwing up. So I called my surgeons office and went it. Where my lapband was had become extremely tight and was not allowing anything to go through. So I was scheduled to go in the next morning which was last Thursday to have an EGD with a ballon stretch in the area where the issue was. I now can eat about 6oz of food before I feel satiety. I am worried it was over stretched. I am not losing any weight. I am very concerned I am eating to much. It is low fat and low carb meals and of course Protein first. I am still adhering to the no drinking with meals and waiting to eat 30 minutes after drinking and waiting to drink 30 minutes after eating. I am just looking for input and opinions on what I should do.

I was just watching a YouTube who had done a lot of research and she found a website where they fight for the revisions and surgeries to be approved after they are denied. They work and get you approved. Might be something to look into. The website is www.wlsappeals.com and it is called Lindstrom Obesity Advocacy.

Thanks, I am working on gathering the information and planning my attack. I am not an overly emotional type person. I fight with facts. I work the system. I am just tried of being in pain. Mexico or selfpay is not an option. I have been through life or death surgeries. I never given up. This is not only important to me; it effects my family.

You're very newly out of surgery. Of course trying to stomach things other than liquids will hurt! Please try to be patient with your new anatomy and with yourself. I promise it will get better! Follow your plan to the letter, and hang in there!

Takes time. Hydration is King! Followed closely by walking. Adjust your mindset that this is a rough rough time that will pass. And focus on drinking that 1oz cup of Water every 15 minutes that they want!!! Sip sip sip. Walk walk walk. And your life will go much easier!!! Congrats on surgery!

So sorry to hear about the pain your having.
I had my surgery 2 days before you and haven't had any of those kind of issues.
I am slightly constipated and was very weak to the point of passing out. Some nausea but never to the point of vomiting.
I can't possibly be dehydrated because I drink at least 6 ,16 oz bottles of Water a day.
If you keep feeling this way call your Dr. back.
    Hopefully you feel better soon.

Listen to your body, and just be patient. If you’re unable to keep Water down/Gatorade down, then you should talk to your doctor immediately! Best of luck!

Hey y’all! I am 1 week and 1 day post surgery. It was a lapband to bypass revision and I literally cannot stomach anything but Water and some Gatorade zero. My tiny tummy and bowels are still hurting and I feel like I may never be able to consume food again. I know it’s part of the process and feeling bummed or depressed about food is very common but I just want to see if the stomach and bowel pain is common. I have no issues going to the restroom because it is straight liquid. I was back in the hospital Sunday into Monday because I ended up with cellulitis in my left side. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone. Wow. It been an eventful few days.
The hospital experience was frustrating and only added to my anxiety about this whole situation.
My doctor was 1 1/2 hours late. So I had to lie/sit there in a gown hooked up to IVs and monitors for longer than I should have.
Finally it was over and I was back home. Taking sips of Water and even a few bites of a popsicle. Then my stomach started hurting. I took a short nap but that didn't t seem to help. So the inevitable happened: I threw up.
The night was long. I kept waking up every 2 hours or so to take in some Water and just walk around for a while.
Today has been better. I had some African Red Tea (yum) then later some chicken broth. So far so good. No more nausea or throwing up. Maybe tomorrow I can mange a Protein shake. Wish me luck!

I was banded 7/23/13 and got down to 172 last year back up to 188 as of this morning. I saw 190 yesterday morning and decided the only way to lose the weight and get to my goal is to put in the work. I can't blame my band because it's my hand that puts the food in my mouth. Journaling all food with my fitness pal. I am doing this for me. I would live to share this back on track journey with others in the same boat as me.

Ahhhhhh the horrible feeling of dreading going in for a fill. I know the feeling and it's terrible. Your story is similar to mine- diet pills, trainer, a band. I had a band for 6 years with moderate success- until it broke. My surgeon was very reassuring and removed it and created a sleeve at same time. I couldn't be happier.
Have you considered having band removed and getting a sleeve? I ask because my doctors were very unhappy with bands and refused to put any more in, only remove them. They said overall they created problems (slipping, gerd etc) and not very impressed with weight loss overall.
It just sounds like you have been through so much and are still willing to fight for your health. Why not set yourself up for a better chance of success? WLS is NO magic cure I KNOW. It's work, mental and physical. However there are so many success stories out there as you can see on this website. I would love to see you part of them.
I sincerity wish you the very best. Big hug O.

    m.simpson88 reacted to khath0620 in "Its not a sprint, it's a marathon"....banded and 6 years later...
So I have done exceptionally well in the past with my weight loss. I was banded in May 2010 and proceeded to lose about 120 pounds. I was eating right, exercising minimum 5 days a week. I even ran a 10K! Then last January I got a bad ankle injury and was in a boot for 3 months and then had to go to Physical Therapy for another 3 months. My exercise took a huge hit and that one injury completely derailed me .... physically and emotionally! I ended up getting depressed and gained 20 pounds last year and I am PISSED at myself!
So here I am, a year later, still clawing my way to find my motivation and get back on track. Its funny how I KNOW what I have to do but end up doing what feels COMFORTABLE....I tell myself the same stupid things I told myself before I got banded:
    - "Its ok if you don't want to go to the gym today, you are super busy with other things"
    - "You had a rough day, that extra (whatever) will make you feel better"
    - "You can start fresh tomorrow"....
    - yada, yada, yada.......
I am fortunate that I didn't gain back more weight but I feel every single one of those 20 pounds on my body and soul....and I DON'T LIKE IT! So I am going to stand in the uncomfortable truth that I have choices every moment of every day. I can choose to get up and get my workouts in (and not scroll through Facebook for 1/2 hour). I can choose to not put extra things on my salad that would raise the calorie count. I can choose to weight, measure and track my food on myfitnesspal app. I can choose to get my Water in.
So here is the manta I need to keep telling myself to get me through this tough part of getting back on track: I owe no one anything. I don't owe any apologies for gaining weight. I don't have to feel shame for gaining weight, it happened. It is in the past and now IT'S TIME TO MOVE FORWARD.
That old "stinkin' thinkin'" has to go! Time to get back to who I was, who I am meant to be!
Stay strong everyone and I will do the same!

I have been on a very strict low carb low sugar diet since rededicating myself at the first of the year. At first I had all the side effects Dizziness moodiness (outright rage sometimes) and utter exhaustion. I pushed through it and now I am discovering that I don't really crave it anymore and my energy levels are soaring. A month ago just walking down the hall at work at a fairly slow pace I would get out of breath. Today I had to slow down so another guy could keep up with me and I was breathing normally! Then I was faced with a challenge. Some people were in from out of town and wanted to have lunch at an awesome mexican restaurant (Chuy's). I ordered a taco salad (less guacamole) and didn't eat the shell or a single tortilla chip. This was a BIG test for me but as I sat there watching them eat their meals I found I wasn't craving it and actually didn't even want it! I feel like today was a big step for me in my journey.
