colorado_chick got a reaction from Heccat2 in 4 weeks for a fill too long
This is exactly like me!!! I had my surgery at the beginning of July. I have had 3 fills. I still don't have restriction. I can eat just like I did before the lap band. Right now, it feels like another diet that I am failing. But I hope, like some others here, that once that green zone kicks in, the weight will melt off. I have about 6 or 7 ccs in my 10 cc band. I can't wait for the green zone!! I think we just have to hang in there and trust it will come.

Imagine when you are being walked back to surgical suite the nurse or whatever who escorted me back said wow they must have lowered the standards for lapband... first of all I didn't know what to say but then I thought how rude .. I said well they must have lowered the standards for nursing school as well.. she just stomped off.. I mean really how does anyone especially in the medical profession have the nerve to say something like that... anyway she didn't know me from Adam and didn't know how many years I had fought my weight and developed diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure in the process so as far as I am concerned people who say rude stuff like that can KISS IT...

    Lellow worded it perfectly.
It controls the quantity by giving you signals "hey, it's time to stop eating". It's a learning experience but if you learn to listen to your band it becomes second nature. But, can you still eat if you want to eat beyond that "soft stop" signal? Yes, most of the time you can. Think of the band as tapping you on the shoulder saying "you're done" not plugging up the hole so you don't have a choice. You always still have a choice.

Ok, the best way I can explain it is this, at the RIGHT fill level, the band works like this:
You can still eat most foods, and should be eating solid food, mainly Proteins, as these work best with the band.
If you're eating solid food, and your band is at the right fill level, you will feel a 'soft stop' once you're had not a lot of food, and the soft stop can take the form of discomfort, or a runny nose, or hiccups, though there are others, you will start to recognise your own. You should stop eating at this point.
This small amount of food should keep you from being hungry again for 3 - 4 hours. And by hunger I mean REAL hunger, not 'I feel like eating' hunger.

If you follow the rationale above, and eat solid, mainly Protein, foods 3 meals a day, you will be eating about 1/2 to 1 cup of lean protein plus veg and maybe carbs (if you do that) and sustaining yourself ALL day pretty much. So you could be on 1.5 to 3 cups of food all day without feeling geniune hunger.

colorado_chick got a reaction from DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! in Bra Recommendations Please!
I am a 42 DD, maybe a 40 D or so now. I swear by the Playtex 18 hour bras. They have several types in that collection.
Here is why I love them: they are wire free, but have very good lift, they have wide padded shoulder straps which are more comfortable, they have a wide strap which provide more support, and they are lightly padded to give some shape, but not too much, they are not crazy expensive, they come in a variety of colors and styles, and all major stores sell them. These bras are definitely made for us "well endowed" ladies.
I can't wait to hear other recommendations, too!

I really thought my first NSV would be finally buttoning up my favorite pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear in over a year. I keep trying, but ... no luck yet!
But I did however realize today that since being banded two months ago, I have not once gone to the dollar store to buy candy!!
I used to go to the dollar store on a weekly basis (at the very least) and buy about $5 worth of candy. And if you've ever been to the dollar store, you'll know that is a lot of candy. I would start eating it in the car on the way home, and I'd keep eating it until it was gone. Doing some simple math ... five boxes of candy, 7 servings or so per box, that makes, uh, 35 servings of candy a week!!
But, I have not even had the desire to go out and buy candy. My intense food cravings have almost vanished, and when I do have something sweet, I definitely find it far sweeter than I used to. I am so proud that I'm finally candy free!

You must be so frustrated. You're doing everything right, so all you can do is keep doing what you're doing. I'm 8 weeks post-op and was in a similar situation with weight not moving for a few weeks and the added stress of people asking how much I've lost. Then, all of a sudden, I woke up one morning and I had magically lost 4 pounds. It was the best moment of the journey so far! Hopefully that will happen to you any day now. You're not failing. You are establishing healthy habits and routines - nice job!

    Hey guys,
I am officially banded! I'm on day 3 post op. This recovery is really kicking my butt! I have no gas pain but the incision pain is horrible, but slowly getting better. Hooray for pain meds! I had a horrible reaction to the anesthesia and it made me so sick, but once all of that got out of my system, I feel tons better. But i'm still basically in bed, and trying to get up and move every few hours.
The funniest thing that happened to me post op was when I was in the recovery room and all loppy, the nurse brings me a diet coke and some crackers and says 'here, eat this, you'll feel better". Thank goodness I was coherent enough to say "no thanks, I can't have either of those right now". I would have thought the nurses would know a LITTLE bit about the operation I just went through!! Good luck everyone! This is so exciting and scary!
