  1. I love Unjury! That's all I will use. It is amazing. I really don't like Protein Drinks at all due to that nasty aftertaste and Protein flavor. I gagged down Isopure in my clear stage, I tried some other stuff from GNC and Walmart and it all made me gag. I bought the Margaritaville smoothie maker and it is awesome. It crushes that ice down to a slurpee (icee) texture just like you buy at 7-11. The Chocloate splendor is great. I make it with 1/2 cup skim milk and ice, its just like a milk shake. I actually really like it. I also get the frozen berries in the freezer section and mix that with ice, the unflavored Unjury powder and 1/2 cup skim milk and it makes a great tasting smoothie. These are my life savor. I have been drinking them since I got off clears and will continue. I wont drink any other Protein Powder mixes... I found the one that is for me. UNJURY is awesome! I cant even taste the protein, and NO aftertaste. 21 grams protein, 0 sugar and 0 carbs. The chocolate isn't too chocolatey either which is great because I always liked my milkshakes light... like 1/2 vanilla 1/2 chocoloate. Worth every penny, especially with the Margaritaville mixer.

  2. Hi, I am 3.5 weeks post op, banded 5/10/13. My port has always stuck out a little and I feel it when I touch it, its hard and feels close to the surface of my skin, is this normal? Its just not down deep in my muscle tissue as I thought it was going to be. Im just so afraid of it flipping. How would I know if it did? I don't see my DR until my first fill on 6/27. I started sleeping on my stomach just a few days after surgery, my port is on the left side of my stomach, and Im just afraid I screwed something up. Anyone that had their ports flipped or turned on its side, how did you know? And if you feel your port, how does the top of it supposed to feel? Im just a little nervous.

  3. I'm in the same boat! I had lost 14 gained 2 back and I'm stuck for more than a week :( I was banded 05/10/13. It really suck! I'm afraid to start gaining again :(

Im glad to hear that I am not the only one. As soon as I got off clears, I stopped losing and have actually gained nearly 2 lbs. I lost 16lbs my first 10 days, and haven't lost anything since the 20th. My surgery was also 5/10. It better start going back in the other direction because Im starting to really get nervous!

  4. Hi Daisy I too had the band over bypass how are you feeling?

I'm so glad to hear that we had the same! I'm doing ok. My port hurts still and now my stomach is itching.... i guess im healing. im struggling with getting in the Protein. I hate Isopure so much. It gags me. I ordered injury and I hope it comes tomorrow. I went back to work too early. My surgery was Friday and I was back Monday. I have a sit down job but was still struggling all week.

My surgery was May 10th. I down 15lbs this morning.

I'm suffering the head hunger thing. I'm ready to eat regular food! My dr has a post op diet plan of 10 days Clear Liquids, 10 days of full, thicker, liquids, then 10 days of mushies. I have one more day of clears. I swear I never want it see broth again. Haha. I'm so ready for mushies.

    How are you feeling?

I'd love to keep in touch.

  5. Hi Nikki, Funny we have the same stats. Im 5'3, preop was 182. I just had my surgery a week ago today, and so far I am down 11lbs. I weighed 171 this morning. My goal is about 130.

So I cant tell you long term, obviously, but I just wanted to chime in. Good Luck with everything!

  6. i was banded on Friday May 10th and I went back to work Monday for a half day. Today I did a full day and I will continue now at myregular shift. iI have a desk job, sitting a lot but I do have to walk to the printer about 20x a day and its across the room. I start feeling really tired at around noon or 1pm, but I really didnt have an option of taking more time off. Theres only 3 of us and 1 is on vacation this week so I was expected to be there, otherwise I would have loved to take the week off.

  7. I did it and I am home and back to work. Surgery was Friday the 10th. I am very sore, bruised and swollen. My stomach looks like it was hit by a truck. Cant wait for this swelling to go down because Ive gained like 8lbs since Friday. I was down a couple of those today, but I am ready to start losing this weight! Yes, I am also mourning food and already sick of broth and Jello. I am so anxious for real food.

    Hows everyone doing?

  8. Hi there. I wanted to join this group hoping to find someone else that maybe in the same situation I am. Please do not judge or make judgement as to what I have done.

I had gastric bypass in June 2004 and I had this done as an open procedure. Lost about 120-125 pounds. and was really good with that. I then started exercising and doing the "Curves" thing. I then discovered that I had a golf ball size incisional hernia from this surgery. Due to a job layoff and losing insurance I wasn't able to have this fixed. Finally I was able to get this fixed in March of 2011 and at this point it was the size of a grapefruit. Found this great surgeon who also happened to be a baratric surgeon as well. He fixed my problem or so I thought but only to discover a few months later it had reappeared in a lower part of my "tummy" so I then had a 2nd surgery done. Thinking all is fine I joined a gym and started to walk on the treadmill and the bike because I finally was glad to be able to get exercise in. But right before I decided to get a personal trainer to help with my muscles I discovered a 3rd hernia! WOW that was about all I could handle. I went back to the dr and we talked at length about having the surgery again and since he did the lap bands on other patients we decided to have it done on me since he was already in there. Not really even sure how this was approved by insurance but they did. I just had the surgery 4 weeks ago and he did about an 8x8 mesh patch to cover my previsous incision from breast bone to belly and then from the right to the left...and then we did the lap band. He said my pouch looked really good....it was not overstretched or anything of the sorts. I have not gained any weight back from the 125 but maybe a few pounds here and there but have always maintained the same weight for at least 7 years after i stopped losing. but I'm still at about 240 pounds and I feel that additional restriction is worth it.

Since my surgery I have really changed my eating. I know longer eat my Breakfast all morning. I time myself to 30 mins only per meal. Something that i got out of habit doing. I stopped drinking dt coke....drink more Water etc.

So I went back to my dr yesterday for a check up and a fill. I lost 11 pounds the first week but nothing since so he did a fill of 3 1/2 cc's. Sounds like a lot compared to what I have read. But hopefully it will work. Is this a lot? Is there anyone esle that has had the gastric bypass and then the band? Just curious if so what their experiences are and if its different for us than others?

    Thanks! Shannon

Hi Shannon, how have you been doing with your band over bypass now that its been 6 months? I just had mine done on Friday May 10th, so I havent lost anything yet. I was just curious to hear from others who have had it done. Would love to hear from you.

  9. I had my band over bypass done on Friday, May 10th, I went back to work yesterday the 13th. I have a desk job but was still only able to do a half day. I was just too sore and exhausted. I did work the full day today, though. I havent lost anything yet, in fact I am up like 8lbs which I think is swelling because I sure have a lot of it. My stomach looks like it was run over by a truck. I am so bruised and swollen. Did you guys gain right after surgery? Im hoping this is normal. I am on my 4th day of broth and Clear liquids and Im sick of it already. I cant wait to eat real food. Im not hungry, but I dont feel satisfied when I eat because broth and Jello is starting to taste gross. I feel a lot of restriction and I feel full after a very small amount of broth, like 1/4 cup...but its not satisfying. Maybe Im mourning food, I dont know.

Foor now, I just want my swelling to go away so that maybe I can start losing something. Tired of seeing the scale go up.

    I guess Im impatient!

  10. Hi,

It's too early for me to tell. I was done on April 24 just doing the full liquids on second week. I have lost 17 lbs already. That is encouraging. I wish you luck on your new journey. I am a little hungry today. I have been not hungry at all I think I just ready to eat some real food!!!

17 lbs already is wonderful!! Congratulations!

Id love to hear how you progress and how it goes. How was your recovery so far, and if you work, how long after the surgery did you return?

  11. Hi Ladies,

I am getting my band over bypass done on May 10th. Everyone that I had talked to has had amazing results, at or below their goal, so I am hopeful. I had my gastric bypass done in 2003, so I am almost 10 years out. Ive gained about 1/2 back. My goal now is to lose about 50 lbs.

Are you guys happy you did it? I will be a self pay and Im hoping its the right decision. How was your recovery? How long before you went back to work? I have a desk job, pretty sedetary.
