    Ketogenic Diet

I know a few people who had done this post surgery and have had great results HOWEVER with that said.. in all honesty.. you should talk to your nutritionist about it before you begin it..make sure it won't do you any harm. As for in person ppl in your area have you tried any bariatric support groups in your area?

    A blessing in diguise

I agree with your motto and have actually told several people that over the last year. I wish you all the best with everything.

    A blessing in diguise

After 3 years and 1 month to the day, i had my band removed three days ago.. and now i have to try and figure out my life without it.. at least until my follow up with my surgeon to talk options. I have grown an intolerance over the last year and a half with my band and had even scheduled with another group for removal and conversion over to sleeve. Some days i was scared to eat because who knew if it would throw my system into an episode and eventually slip. It never did.. time after time i would go for a fill only for a few months down the road for Lucy to be emptied out. Yes i named her Lucy. She never slipped though until about a week ago.. i was emptied out completely so i am not exactly sure what led to this .. I was completely and utterly miserable with her. But i will miss her. She gave me a wonderful tool to learn to eat smaller portions. She helped me loose over 100 pounds from my highest weight. I had her for three years and while i had my complications i didn't regret getting her.. and now she is gone. Its bittersweet but a blessing in disguise.. but now i have to learn this food thing all over again.. to train my brain to not over do it just because she is gone..the mind game..it is one i wish we did not have to deal with but we do. Fingers crossed it's not to bad for me and that my surgeon says we can convert to the sleeve. Please if you feel something is off with your band.. call your doctor and if you feel in your gut you need a second opinion or feel like just a heartbeat with insurance... get a second opinion. You're worth it.

    Body Dysmorphia

71 pounds?! That's awesome and no joking matter!! Is there anyway you can focus on the way your clothes feel and look on you when you look in the mirror instead of what you don't like? i am the same way with my stomach.. i have some bumps and rolls lol and i zone into that spot. Never fails. Why not a walk or a quick video / gym time to get cardio in.. it always changes my moods from bad to good. One of my right now favorite quotes is The only motivation you need is staring back at you in the mirror. Best of luck!

    Hi! New here!

Hi everyone!! Can we all be besties?! LOL I had my band placed april 2013 .. my highest was 313 and i had gotten to my lowest of 196 before the issues started. Back and forth from fill to unfill.. so about 6 months ago i started thinking of converting over to the sleeve with a different doctor.( Mine kept saying he would only do it if there was a complication or a malfunction.) i really liked my doctor and his group so i was a bit hesitant to find someone new. Anyway, this past april on my bandiversary ,no less, i had to have a complete unfill once again... and about a week and a half later my band slipped... I had it removed May 23rd and now am waiting for my follow up with the doctor ( my original group) to talk options. I'm super excited, nervous, worried all rolled into one. I am happy to meet others with similar issues like me and can't wait to follow everyone's journey!

    What can I expect?

i know for me.. i went to the seminar and it was there that i scheduled an appt to meet with my doctor. He handed me a checklist the day of my appointment of things i needed to get done. That was dec 2012 and i had my band done april 2013. Best of luck to you!

@@scottishlass i hope you feel better soon as well!! @@plkelley I am happy to hear you are doing better... I heard while i was in the hospital post surgery that even my doctor doesn't do the band much anymore.. Which i have to chuckle at because when i had my band done.. that was all he was doing even though he was well practiced in the other options..

    Acid at night

I hope that works for you. Many i know with the band said the slightest unfill works wonders. Have you talked to your doctor about a suppressant.. maybe in the form of a tea to help when you have less Fluid? I always gained a few pounds back but that was from my body hydrating back up. I hope you feel better soon

The 8 weeks in between is so your body can heal properly. My reflux has yet to follow me post band removal. I feel great minus the pain from the surgery..

    Acid at night

They removed it on monday the 23rd. They said it could be an option but i really wont know until i go back for my follow up in a week and a half. I hope i am eligible for the conversion over though it was a mechanical malfunction according to my doctor .Fingers crossed

    Acid at night

Call your doctor. I know it is not what you want to hear but i recently had this issue on and off for a year and a half and the only thing that would work was to get some Fluid removed. i didn't have any other issues when checked I had an empty band and monday had emergency surgery to have it removed as it slipped. Please listen to your body. It is always better to be safe then sorry I hope you feel better. For a quick fix i found a that a table spoon of baking soda and a 1/4 cup of warm Water help with the acid. if you do not have anything on hand and i was always able to finish the night in peace

    A blessing in diguise

I am sorry to hear about your pending removal! It stinks to say the least! My hunger right now is the same as if i just had an empty band but i am still swollen from surgery. I have noticed today that the hunger "pains" have come back so i am just eating as if i have the band . Small portions still and very little carbs. It definitely is a tough battle we are faced with. Try not to stress about the hungry issue post removal just concentrate on getting well and healing. Are you going to try and get a conversion over to the sleeve or is this it for you?

    Seven months out...and sinking!

It is hard girlfriend!!! I have been going through the same somewhat expect getting unfills.. and add a break up to that as well... boo all I know is it was easier in the beginning as we sat home recovering we had all day to concentrate about it.. but I do agree with lisa .. between 60-80 grams of Protein a day is what I was told as well... instead of shakes add your protein to soups.. other then shakes and soups I don't know any other liquid forms of it.. remember why you did this? a support group? what is a small goal you are working towards? we all have that big one.. but small one? for me to get into the gym instead of it sitting there.. I had to go through this breakup .. boo lol but it is what it is.. goodluck momma! you got this!
