That sounds yummy...may have to try that! I sometimes mix dry ranch dressing mix into cottage cheese - that's really good too

I was craving an Italian fix (my family just had eggplant parmesan the other night) so I wasn't sure if baba ghanoush would do the trick! I feel a little gassy already so we'll see if my stomach settles.

Very interesting thread, I actually read every single post. I guess there's comfort in knowing I'm not the only one that was a bit crazy.
I can't think of a specific example of food I ate so I'll share some old crazy thinking I had. I had a theory that once you hit a certain number of calories (not sure what that number was), your body would no longer be able to store the excess calories as fat. So if you go off the wagon, may as well go all the way off and eat everything. Then get back on track the next day or following Monday.

I quit smoking October 2004 it was the best thing I could have done for my daughters and me. The craving will go away but it takes a looonnnggg time. One doctor told me 7years and that's about right. I am now to the point I can't stand cigarette smoke. I used wellbutrin for the first two yrs to help.

@AvaFern... thanks for sharing! I appreciate that there is someone else out there who can't follow all the RULES and still turned out fine. This break-up with food has been hard because there are times I just want to really eat - but I'm not angry or anything - I'm so glad to be feeling healthier and being able to go to the gym is a blessing.
@@Stevehud - man, that slowing down the eating thing is a chore. I do try, but sometimes I look up and I've eaten my "couple of bites" and did it all WAY TOO FAST! I'm a work in progress for sure

I quit in 2012 using e-cigs after receiving two cardiac stents, sad but I still miss cigarettes and smoking a lot but I know I did the right thing health wise and a pack of smokes in NYC are darn near 13$ bucks a pack which in itself is a deterrent.

I've eaten some pizza, mostly pick off the cheese/toppings part, and leave the crust behind. As for beer, I'm a bar mamager, and wanted to try a new ipa we started serving, figured one sip would be ok, NOT!!! Hurt before it even got down all the way. Now, margaritas and bourbon or scotch on the rocks... totally different story! Lol. I guess everyone is different, gotta figure out what you can or can't handle for yourself.

I had less than 70 pounds to lose, but my health issues made that 70 pounds destructive. I'm in my late 50's, so losing 70 pounds and keeping it off was extremely difficult. Now my health has improved 150%, I exercise (including running on a treadmill) and I feel fantastic. Surgery was a blessing for me.

Only on Bariatric Pal will those of us with "only" 100 pounds to lose be considered tiny. ???? 100 pounds is a lot of weight to lose. Period.
I started this journey with a BMI of 39 (238 /5'7") and thanks to the sleeve reached my goal weight of 150 before a year's time. Never in my life have I been able to lose weight so easily and for the first time in my life, I'm really not worried about gaining it back. Maintenance will take some effort, but it is SO much easier not being hungry all of the time! The good news is those if us starting out with a lower BMI have a greater chance of losing 100% of our excess weight post surgery (compared to the 65% average). Good luck with whatever you decide. It's the best decision I ever made. I know I was really worried what it would be like to live with this surgery. I can tell you now 14 months post-op I can't really tell I've had it except I get full after eating a small quantity of food. Otherwise I feel normal.

chubbsey1 reacted to Debbie Jean in How long 'til you ditched your CPAP?
Not necessarily. That was what I thought but when my pulminologist read the SD card from my CPAP machine, he said it registered no leaks which it would if I was "mouth breathing". I started at 9 and lowered the pressure to 7 and the extreme dry mouth went away. I had lost about 45 lbs at that point. As I've continued to lose, I've had to lower the pressure again to 5. AHI's haven't changed.
I may be one of the only people here who actually love my CPAP ☺️ After years of interrupted and broken sleep I wake up feeling soooo rested. LOL

chubbsey1 reacted to Alex Brecher in Is it CHEATING or is it a CHOICE?
    Good topic!
Of course it’s a choice. But I think it’s just a question of how we use the word “cheating.” It’s not “cheating” the same way you can “cheat” in high school. You can “cheat” on an algebra test, get an “A,” get into a great college, and major in English, and you’ll “win” by getting a great job and nobody will ever know or care you don’t know algebra. (Sssh…don’t tell the high schoolers who are BariatricPal members and reading this!). The only “punishment” is you’ve compromised your ethics.
In WLS, the “cheating” is different because it’s not a short cut to the outcome you want. It’s something that stands in your way. Overeat, and stop losing weight, whether or not you admit it to yourself or anyone else.
Why post about “cheating” on BariatricPal after you’ve done it? Lots of reasons! First, misery loves company. You want to know you’re not the only one who’s ever messed up. And maybe you can get inspired by someone else who messed up but got back on track and is doing great now. Or maybe posting is your way of making it official to yourself or others that you’re now ready to be accountable and get back on track.
So yes…it is a choice…but I think we can still use the word “cheating” to describe it.

Great post, I believe we (society) as a whole have come to a place where we just can't or better yet won't take responsibility for our own actions and need the justification from others for our poor choices/ actions. I am new to this I had surgery back in February but I followed the "plan" now that said it's tough to be a saint in the city and I've done screwed up bad! But at no point did I "ask" if it was okay to do so. In the future may I ask some of the wonderful people here for advice like I have in the past ? Of course. I just don't know if they are trolls or just ignorant folks but I've seen some really bizarre questions here and that's okay too, if you truly need to know if it's okay to eat the triple bypass bacon jalapeño and nacho cheese burger in between two donuts and wash it down with a soda 2 days after surgery the gracious folks here will help you! That's my rant and I'm sticking to it! Good luck to everyone on their journey!
