I'm just not understanding the food part of all this.
stept04 replied to ADJL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's about a cup of food at each meal or about 4oz lean Protein, 1/2 cup vegi's, and 1/2 cup complex carbs. Make sure you start with your protein then move on to your vegi's and finish with your complex carbs. Stop eating when your full though, just make sure your getting in your lean protein which is 60 to 80 grams a day. Hope that helps some. ~~~Stephanie -
As far as your question pertaining to a pre-fill most Dr.'s won't put in any amount of Fluid at the time of surgery, but some Dr.'s do. So the only one that can answer if you had any fluid put in at your surgery would be your Doc or nurse. Hope that is what you were talking about. ~~~Stephanie

I think they will represent what the topic is about. You type in words that represent what your topic is about and if someone searches using one of those words they will find your topic. Don't hold me to that but that is what I think it is. It will help people find topics they want to read about. ~~~Stephanie

Going on vacation....need help!
stept04 replied to ahendrickson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could pack some yogurt, applesauce, fruit cups. Jello, pudding, deli meats, shredded cheese and your Protein shakes. I was able to eat this stuff on mushie phase so I'm going off of that. Hope this helps. I'm sure there is more but that's all I could think of. ~~~Stephanie -
Realize Band Vs Lapband
stept04 replied to MaggieMay702's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know I have a Realize Band. It is a 10cc. How small were you hoping to get? I had heard before my surgery that the Realize Band only came in size 14cc, but that apparently was not true. My Doc uses either a 10cc or 15cc Realize Band depending on the anatomy. Maybe you did get a small one unless you wanted it smaller than 10cc, I don't know if they make one or not. A long time ago there was a 4cc band but I don't believe they use that anymore. Good luck ~~~Stephanie -
Bloated and Very Uncomfortable
stept04 replied to Joy332's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here I was so bloated and could barely get in any liquids. It lasted for about 3 weeks. I only was able to force down my Protein drinks and it was so uncomfortable. I wish you well. This to shall pass . Maybe try some gas-x. ~~~Stephanie -
Unfortunately I have to take baby aspirin for my heart. Both my cardiologist and bariactric Dr.'s said it was Ok, but I still worry about it. Don't know what else to do about it, so I guess I just keep taking it. ~~~Stephanie

How many calories are you getting in a day? Did your nutritionist put you on a certain caloric intake? If so did they also tell you how many grams of dense Protein you should be getting in? I need 80 grams of protein a day and I'm a 5'3" woman, as a taller male you would need more and you need the dense protein to help you stay more satisfied and full longer. I have a chart for protein if you want to tell me how tall you are. But you should probably see if you can get this info from your nutritionist. As far as calories and protein needs go. I eat 1200 calories right now because I can still loss weight and if I eat less I'll starve. I need another fill. As a male you can get away with more calories. Good luck ~~~Stephanie

Getting prepared...what protein shakes do you like?
stept04 replied to Amyzing's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like Bariactric Advantage Meal Replacement, vanilla flavor and Syntrax nectar, fuzzy navel flavor. They are both very good, not chalky and no after taste. You can find them on BariactricAdvantage.com. Make sure it is BariactricAdvantage.com and not Bariactricchoice.com for some reason the choice one pops up first when you search in google. ~~~Stephanie -
How do you get rid of someone in Private Chat that won't leave you alone and keeps asking for money? I reported it to Alex. But He keeps popping up on private chat it's annoying. ~~~Stephanie

I just swallowed my gum...
stept04 replied to Medikdave's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone had posted about chewing gum. That they were told by their bariactric nurse not to chew gum because if you swallow it, it could get stuck in the stoma and you would have to have it scraped off. I don't know if that is true about scraping it or if it was just a scare tactic, but I'm going to ask my Dr. because I was told no gum. ~~~Stephanie -
I prefer the vanilla, but that's just what I prefer in any brand. ~~~Stephanie

This is gross...what about your #2's
stept04 replied to PrettyThick1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had it on the 3rd day and that was it. After that I had the opposite problem. ~~~Stephanie -
I have Psoriasis it is also a skin disorder and is genetic. Also it is an autoimmune disorder. I don't take a pill I take a shot and thankfully was able to keep it up during this process. The only way that weight contributes to the disorder is in the fat folds of the skin, it gets worse so I am looking forward to that being eliminated some or all for that matter. It is also effected by food and stress so if the new way I eat and if I'm not as stressed that would help too. Good luck with yours. ~~~Stephanie

Fyi.. Unjury protein
stept04 replied to ShantelleElaine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried Syntrax Nectar fuzzy navel flavor it taste like an orange drink it is not milky or have an after taste they have different flavors. I've had fuzzy navel and Caribbean cooler I liked the fuzzy navel the Caribbean cooler is to coconutty and has an after taste. But you can order samples I believe. I get it at BariacticAdvantage.com. There is a similar website that comes up when you type it in google it is bariactric choice.com. They don't have it so make sure it is BariactricAdvantage.com. I think you can even find it on amazon too ~~~Stephanie. -
how soon after surgery can you start doing normal things?
stept04 replied to myshine84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everything was pretty much based on how I felt except for lifting anything over 10 pounds and bending and stooping (what is stooping anyway ). I could not do those things for 4 to 6 weeks. ~~~Stephanie -
My surgery went very well I did not have any problems. The surgery itself only took 1 hour. I just did everything the doc said and all was well. The only problem I had was after my first fill I got stuck real bad and was slimming and vomiting but it was my fault. I had microwaved chicken and that is a no no, and for some reason it slipped my mind. Other than that everything is good. The waiting was the hardest part for me . It'll be here before you know it. ~~~Stephanie

I don't know about most people ,but I was hungry out of the gate. Only thing was I could barley get anything down. When I started having mushies it was all she wrote I had to get things back under control again which took awhile for me. But I'm back on track now. Never had a problem with my pills though even the pain meds which are long I cut them in half just in case. Good luck ~~~Stephanie

I did not lose much of anything on my pre or post-op. It was most defeating but that is the way it happened. I got my first fill 2 weeks ago and the scale is finally moving, so I guess it takes sometime for some of us. Everyone is going to lose differently, so just because it not not moving now does not mean it won't move later just keep doing what your suppose to be doing. Good luck ~~~Stephanie

If I had one regret it would be that I did not get this done sooner. I'm 47 and have been over weight since I was 25, I went through a major depression. All I can tell you is that I had all kinds of second thoughts and fears before having the surgery. I was scared it would not work for me or I would fail at it. But I was so ready I had to go through with it. I was banded the 28th of May and have lost 17 pounds since and I can say I'm glad I got it done. Even if something happens and it does not work I at least tried. But I do believe you need to want it like Carolina girl would say. It's all in the "want power". Good luck ~~~Stephanie

I can't see why there would be a problem laying in the tanning bed. There could be something to do with the healing of the incisions, but other than that I wouldn't think there would be a problem. The best thing though would be to ask your Dr. to be sure. Maybe the people at the tanning bed would know too. ~~~Stephanie
