  8. Whats the difference between clear liquids and full liquids?
  9. I noticed on my pre-op grocery list they gave me. They listed a meal replacement protein shake and then a protein shake. Is there a difference between them. Is one to replace a meal and one for a snack or are they the same?
  10. Does anybody know why exactly they do the upper GI? Does it have to do with fitting the band or something? Just curious because they have not done an upper GI on me. They did an ultrasound on my stomach area, but that's been it. I'm scheduled in May. Did everybody have an upper GI?

Try Bariatric Advantage online. They have some. I got the sugar-free chocolate, and they are really pretty good.
  13. Yea, that would be great if you would do that Pkchop. And thanks for your input prettythick1.
  14. Anyone familiar with Bariatric Solutions and Dr. Steven Stowers in Texas. I was just concerned how involved they should be with me in the beginning. I'm due to have surgery May 28th. I've never meet Dr. Stowers I've just meet with his assistant, a Dr. too. I meet with Stowers the day before my surgery. I've meet with the nutritionist once for about 20 min. They have a number you can call and get any questions answered. have not had any problems with them. I don't know if they have an after hour number, but I'm sure they would, need to ask. I just thought there would be more interaction with the Dr. and nutritionist with requards to me. Does this sound normal to anyone? They did give me an extensive booklet, and they told me to read it cover to cover. Which I have. It just sounds from the post that your all's Dr.s are more interactive with you. Does that happen more after the surgery? Just wanted to make sure they know what they are doing. I did research, they seemed to be on the up and up. Just thought I'd ask. Thanks
  15. That was suppose to be Dr.Scott Stowers. Oops
  16. I'm sorry, I thought you wanted to add. But you can still change it there too.
  17. I know you can go to the upper right hand side, next to sign out, where your username is . Click on the arrow and it will drop down and chose my profile. After that click on edit my profile, upper right in black. Then you should have the option to add your photo. I hope that helps. I'm still new. If it does not work I'm sure you'll get someone that can help. But try that.

    Aetna

My journey to get WLS as been almost 9 yrs. I started out with trying to get gastric by-pass when my husband was in the military. But, I did not have any health conditions that supported me having surgery so they would not pay for it. Next, I had insurance that would pay for it but by the time I got ready to do it, my husband lost his job. His next job they would'nt cover me. Then I just gave up on it, thought it would never happen. Then one day something made me go read the coverage booklet, and low and behold they changed and now they cover it. So now I'm scheduled to get banded May 28th. That was just the short version. Nine years is a long time, and every one around me was getting banded it su&^%ked. But, once I let go and let god so to speak it actually ended up going by fast now that I look back. Any way I quess I'm saying It's not over till its over. I'm getting banded, unless something happens .Then will just see what happens. Don't give up it can still work out somehow. Good Luck
  19. I wanted to ask if anyone was having problems losing weight before the surgery? I say this because most over weight people don't have a problem getting it off but do keeping it off. And I can't seem to get but 25 pounds off on my own no matter what. I'm just afraid to get the band if I have some other problem. I do have hypothyroidism, but it is supposed to be in check. If my body's metabolism is messes up from not eating enough will the band help with that. I read the band tricks the body into thinking it is not in starvation mode thus speeding up the metabolism. Insight anybody?
  20. You could look in to bariatric advantage.I got some stuff from there.

Surgery in 2 days and scared of failure....

I'm being banded in May and having the same fears. I'm afraid I'll do everything right, but my body won't cooperate. Is that possible? Good luck ,and I'm sure will be OK.
  22. I'm just looking for some support. I only have my husband and his ear is probably full. I am supposed to be banded May 28th that's were all of my focus has been. Well, I had a mammogram a week ago and now they want to do an ultra sound. I'm concerned because along with weight issues breast cancer runs in the family. Plus, I've been on Enbrel, which can cause cancer. I'm scared that I could be positive for cancer, and that just ruins everything I've been trying to accomplish for myself. I've just started school, It was perfect timing for my lapband surgery because my portion was down to 1,300 because of a previous surgery. They were going to let me just put 300.00 down and payments on the rest. If I have to wait till next year my portion will be 3,000.00. Anyway, this just $%^$ off. I guess I'm just venting because I know there is nothing I can do about it, and I just have to take it one day at a time. But it is easier said than done. Thanks for listening and letting me get this off my chest.

    Fills after insurance paid surgery

I used to have tricare now I have ChampVA. I was wondering the same thing about the fills. It would seem like they would pay something. But I guess I'll have to call my insurance on Monday to be sure. Good Luck and I hope they pay it for you. I know it can be expensive. If I have to pay out of pocket it is 150.00
