I got a fill last Wed I was 232 got on scale today and it said 220
I thought scale was messed up up at Manor so went over to hospital to weigh it said 219 lol. Love Love Love my lap band. First significant loss I have had in awhile. I even called Dr. thinking maybe I was confused about weight and or date I got fill but nope it is true. 12 pounds since May 14th. And yes I am eating enough. Definitely not starving myself.

BlueMoon~T got a reaction from enjoythetime in 2 weeks post-OP sore throat?
@@JessS I didn't after Lap Band surgery, but after I had my gallbladder removed I lost my voice for a week and my throat was sore for several weeks after. That being said, I would give your surgeon a call just to be safe.
Also, have you had heartburn or any acid reflux issues? Or did they do a hernia repair?
    Keep us updated!

Update: I've been wanting to start running, but I keep telling myself I can't because of my health issues. My Dr. told me to go slow and see how I feel. So, today I downloaded Couch-to-5k.
    Wish me luck!

Did my yoga, I'm still pushing myself to do the moderate poses. Geez Louise yoga makes me sweat! My dogs were very rambunctious this morning so I took them on a walk. We were gone for about an hr. I guess I need to invest in a pedometer.
It's overcast and a little humid here in MO. Suddenly I hear Little Orphan Annie singing... The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow. Oh! Geez...that's going to be stuck in my head for awhile. Sorry!!

OK, this is actually kinda embarrassing. I'm not one to post pics of myself but when I did on another thread because someone wanted to see what I looked like, I got a great response. And I'm not talking about fishing for compliments. Again...I'm not comfortable with that kind of thing. I'm posting these because some folks got encouragement from looking at my pics. So if this helps anyone out there to do the work and see their own good results, then I'm OK with it.
    So anyway, here they are.

BlueMoon~T got a reaction from enjoythetime in How do you handle the pressure?
I was pushed toward RNY because I had so much weight to lose. I had been to a consult with one of the best bariatric surgeons in my area. Here I was talking about all the research I had done and why I chose the Lap Band. He shut me down... he told me he knew what was best for me, RNY. I, too, cried when I got to my car.
I thought about it for a week then scheduled an appointment with the surgeon who gave me my Lap Band. As TMF stated,my surgeon told me I would have to be committed and work hard. It hasn't been easy, but I'm successfully losing and I'm very optimistic that I WILL meet my goal.
This choice is all about you. I'm not saying one surgery is better than another. What I am saying is, this about your future, don't let someone else decide for you!
    Best wishes!

Did my Yoga and attempted to match my movements with the more difficult poses. Also, did my resistance bands exercises. I am hurting today after my hike yesterday. Muscles are aching where I didn't even know I had muscles.
    But, I'm feeling accomplished!!

I get so excited when I am in the pool to exercise...in 45 minutes I did all of my leg/ab exercises and actually found out only 1/2 mile is done when I do 16 back and forths, so this week I have upped my ante...walked my first 1/2 miles and then my exercises and then I walk 1/2 mile again...did them all in 45 minutes...this is really great for me anyways. LOL!!! Going to start going on Saturday mornings too starting this week...Yeah Me!!! Sorry a bit on happy street this morning...finally I am down too although its unofficial 44 lbs!!! Hope you all have a great day.!!!!!

The sleeve is a much more straightforward WLS. Fewer complicatins, fewer food issues, less aftercare but much more invasive and extreme when it comes to removing most of your stomach.
I agree with Betty. If you're young or even an old fart like me, but you're active, the band can work for you. It also helps if you understand how this all works and don't go into it thinking the band will do it for you. Not gonna happen. You will work harder to lose weight than ever before but the band is like a your security blanket. It can soothe out those difficult times when your hunger and cravings want to just take over. Oh, you'll have to fight those cravings as before but the urges may not be nearly as extreme as before.

I would imagine the swallow test and appointment will be covered but beyond that it's up to your insurance. And the only way to tell is to go to their website and look up coverage for your plan? Look for bariatric coverage. BCBS has many different plans and although one may cover it, another employer may not have included bariatrics in their coverage due to increased cost?

I was terrified for my first fill because I hate needles...not sure I've met anyone who LOVES needles...ha! But my fill went fine. I felt fine afterwards and continued with mushies. I will refrain from giving the rest of "my journey" because everyone is different.
I'm sure your doc will give you instructions on what to do a expect when eating and all of that. And what I've learned after this weekend...there are a TON of valuable and friendly people here that are GREAT to talk with as well!!
    Good luck!!
