I know it's been so long since I was on here. I had my RNY on Nov 2, 2015. It was a long time between my removal and my Gastric Bypass surgery.
I'm coming up on my year anniversary and I wouldn't change a thing. My weight loss has been substantial. My highest recorded weight was 342. I am now down to 152. I feel amazing. I haven't had any complications.
I'm using an app on my phone and I need to update my profile. I look so much different now.

I was big with strawberries and Greek yogurt. It didn't cause me any issues with my RNY. The Greek yogurt helped with my Protein levels. Good luck!!

I know this is an old thread but I had my Bypass on 11/2/15. I had a revision from a lap band to RNY, my insurance covered it, thank God! I'm 5'7" and my highest weight weight was 340. I now weight 152. Two more pounds and I will be in the normal weight for my height. It's been amazing! I haven't had any complications. I hope you all are doing great!

It is hard to say. I would say buy leggings and things with some stretch that you can wear while your losing. I'm almost a year out and I started at a size 24 and now I'm wearing a 5/6. The lower your weight goes the faster you'll see your size change. If that makes sense.

Hey everyone! So, I've had a set back. My kidneys are NOT cooperating and to top it off I have something new (bad new) going on with my back. MRI is scheduled for the 24th. I'm not a happy panda. :*( I'm doing good to walk most days lately.
Anyway, on a positive note, my daughter had her baby on the 16th at 2:35 am. 8lbs. 2oz. 19 inches long. Sweetest thing I've ever laid my eyes on. I even got to cut the cord!
Keep me in your thoughts. Dialysis makes me deathly ill and I'm much too young to have the back I've got. I wanna RUN!! But reading everyone's posts on this thread keeps me motivated to get there. You all are Killing It!!
    Happy Hump Day!!

This is a good read. I definitely lean towards the alter approach. After all, this isn't just another diet. As you mentioned, most of the time foods placed on "not allowed" list will soon be calling our names. Usually ending with a guilt ridden binge. Like TMF stated, only enough for one serving, or at least IMO a taste to soothe that craving.
Lastly, the mindful eating has been the biggest difference in my weight loss process. My WLS helps me be mindful of everything I put into my mouth, how big the bites are and how long I chew. Then waiting for that sensation that what I've eaten has passed through my band. Mindful always of all things good or not so good that I put into my body. It's all altered from the place I was.

I agree with TMF and Bandista. Find another Dr. I too, chose the band because it was less drastic. I would also like to add faster isn't always better. It's not a race it's about our individual growth and learning to eat healthier. Yes, you have to take small bites and chew well, but it makes you mindful of what you're putting into your mouth.
The band is high maintenance, but those monthly Dr visits make me feel I have more accountability. It works for me, or I should say its working for me because I haven't met my goal weight yet!
WLS was the best decision I have ever made for myself. I wish you the best of luck in whatever surgery you choose!

Easier compared to what? Everything is relative... Ignorance of the dedication it takes to be compliant WLS "losers". There are plenty of people on this forum that haven't been successful with their surgeries. I'm not judging, but you have to change your lifestyle. No matter what surgery you have and if you don't it won't work. So, easy... no way!
Oddly enough, my two best friends are gym rats and runners and have been my biggest supporters. The negativity has come from friends and family who are over-weight. Now, I'm just letting my progress speak for itself.

My back and leg got the best of me. Last night around midnight I went for a mile walk with my pregnant daughter. The weather was beautiful and she's so uncomfortable. She's dilated 2cm and 50% effaced, so she's ready!!! and so am I !
Anyway, when it woke up this morning I couldn't get out of bed. Grrrr! I'm limping around now. Just gotta slow things down a bit for the rest of the week.
I may be down, but I'm definitely NOT out!
I hope everyone is enjoying their day!

Take is VERY slow and easy. Get you a tiny Condiments dish and sip on Soup, or liquids. Put it down, then wait...

Follow your Dr's instructions. If you are doing soup take it and throw it in blender and blend ALL the lumps out... that way is smoother. Popcycles and Jello is also a good stand by. Semi frozen Powerade - sugar free ofcourse, let it kinda melt in your mouth. Girllll get use to these liquids because they will soon become your best friend...(everytime you get a fill or unfill).

If and when you get stuck you will know it. My first experience was reheating a small piece of chicken! BIG NO-NO!!! It was dried out and I swallowed to large of a piece. I would describe it as swallowing a gum ball or round piece of candy when you were a kid...only afterwards stay near the bathroom. I slimmed ...aka: YES...along with spitting up and burping a FULL RED SOLO cup full of what looked like snot in which took about an hour and a half before it finally stopped.

Disgusting I know...and scary to say the least. They didn't tell me what it would be like when something stuck...so I found out the hard way and needless to say I freaked out. In this little process EVERYTHING in that region became swallon and inflammed...so guess what this ~~~ led to 3 days back on Clear Liquids.

The Dr's office was closed and I didn't want to go to ER unless I had too. AFter posting here I gathered enough information to learn I was not dying. LOL!

Thank goodness for this site as it is my go to!!!

After a few hours of sipping something warm it finally eased up. By no means am I trying to scare you...because awarness is knowledge and the more we learn from others the better we become. NEVER eat to fast...as things will stick. Take small tiny bites!!!! Stand up ... walk around...sip something warm.

Good Luck and I look forward to hearing how you get along.

    Welcome to your NEW lifestyle.

@@prolife2014 there are many different opinions you are going to get here. The best advice you are going to get from anyone is this. Give your Doctor a call and follow his directions.
If the doctor told you to be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks then that means just that. Liquids do not have lumps or bumps or anything in them that you need to chew. You have just had a major surgery. Now my Dr. had me on a liquid diet for 2 weeks after my surgery and I followed his directions to the letter. After I moved to mushy foods and this also did not include lumps of any kind, or anything that included chewing of any sort. Everything was put into a blender, and then eaten. After that 2 weeks I moved to soft foods and here came the lumps and the chewing, things like eggs and mashed potatoes with lumps and bits of Soup with lumps etc.
I know it is not easy but you need to give your insides a chance to heal and you are not doing that if they are repeating food on you. You should not have a reflux and while I can't say that is normal or not for you, it would not be for me and I would steer clear of this type of soup. I would stay with the liquids until prescribed to move to the next phase. Your insides though you do not feel it are still swollen and healing and getting used to this new way of being.
If you are still having some discomfort with the reflux, and are unsure about foods give the doctor a call that is what they are there for, and they will advise you the best course of action to take.
Good luck and congrats on your surgery!
