    Spirituality and LapBand ?

I love that you brought this topic up. I am a very spiritual person. I am a Christian. I have a deep faith in God. I prayed a lot leading up to getting my band. I pray often for the strength to overcome what makes me hungry......mostly head hunger. I pray for focus. I pray to not feel hungry. I give praise for walking away from foods I normally would have over done on. I praise God for helping me be satisfied on what I have eaten and I praise God for giving me the desire for the healthier and wiser food choices. I am at the beginning stage of having my band. I am thankful to God that I had an amazing surgeon and my recovery was tolerable. I feel at this time of my journey and only having 2cc's in my band I have not found my green zone and I need the extra support I get from my connection with God. Best of luck on your study!!

    Trim Healthy Mama diet

Mothering9 I have the book. A friend gave it to me for my birthday. I have not been able to follow the diet, for several reasons. 1. It is not practical to my everyday life. I am on the go a lot and I can't seem to find what I should eat when I am out 2. All that fat freaks me out 3. I have two kiddos with special diets and this way of eating kind of stresses me out. Makes me feel like I have one more meal to make at night. I am not saying that it is not a good eating plan just hard for me to follow. I did read the book before my WLS. Can you give me examples of what you eat on THM? I think that is another thing for me that is difficult......figuring out what I can eat.

    Day 5 and sharp pain!

Not to discourage you but I had pretty intense pain up until week five......when it finally started to let up. Week six it disappeared. I don't tell you this to scare you but I myself was worried about what it could be. I called my surgeons office three times about the issue and the encouraged me it could take the full six weeks to heal in that area since the port is stitched into the muscle. I felt it helpful to wear my binder when I was home or underneath a large sweatshirt if I needed when I went out. You could also use some bike type shorts under your clothing to give some restriction until full healing occurs. I was banded Nov 4th and now I am on to full activities and feel great. Take your time to heal and give your body some time. It will all be gone soon and you will feel amazing!!!

    November 2013 Bandsters Check In

KYBrownEyes thanks for making this thread. This is a great way for all of us to keep in touch. I honestly wish we had our old site back, it was so much more user friendly. Enough of that......I am doing well. I have not had anymore put in my band. Still the same 2cc from surgery. I did have a post op visit in which I was told I was in starvation mode and was told to eat more because I was possibly hungry between meals because I was not eating enough. What a concept LOL!!! So eating more I am, within my limits. I am loving my band. I hit a mile marker of 50lbs today. 24 from the band!!! Merry Christmas to me I have not had any stuck episodes. I really can eat the same way I did before surgery, just a lot less. I will see my Dr again in late January. She seems to be frugal on fills, so I am not sure if I will be getting on at that time. She seems to look at the whole picture and not really do a fill just to do it and I am glad for that. It will be interesting to see how this story transpires. I have greek yogurt nearly every morning, sometimes I add in some granola. I have also taken a muffin tin, sprayed non stick spray then put in a slice of deli ham and then crack an egg in the ham slice. Bake it 12 min at 350. Add some salt and pepper and shredded cheese for additional flavor. YUM!!! Good to see the progress of all my Banding buddies. I am excited to keep in touch with all of you!!!

    Share Your NSVs Here Please!

Well I had 6 months PCP required by my ins so my process started in March. I took that time to quit some bad eating habits and get in an exercise routine. I was banded a month ago. Having said all that I am now 46lbs lighter. Well here is my Nsv.........I had a goal shirt.....a shirt I really love and pulled it out of the closet and have been walking by it all day not wanting to be discouraged. Well hubby asked me what that shirt was for and insisted I try it one. Well it buttoned and was actually to large in the bust area. Yeah. Feels pretty good. I am trying on some of those clothes that I think are too small
  10. Hi bliiing!!! I was banded on Nov 4th. I have lost 19lbs since surgery for a total of 46lbs now. I saw the nutritionist and surgeon just three days ago. I was in starvation mode and they progressed me to the final eating stage. Yeah for salads and raw veggies again. I was not given a fill because Dr thought I was not eating enough and that is why I am hungry. All together I am doing well. Still having some pulling on my right side which is getting better I have been told is port related. I am feeling better now that I am eating a little more. I feel as if I have a lot more energy. Sorry to hear about your kiddo. What stage of eating does your Dr have you at? Have you had a post op visit yet?

    1St Fill

Ok I have a question. Are you not suppose to eat the day of your fill? My doctors office didn't give me any special instructions and I have my first fill tomorrow. I spoke to a lady in the front office and she told me that she has never heard of anyone being asked to fast before a fill. Ummm.......not sure what to do? My fill appt is @ 11:15......so should breakfast be ok?

    Thanksgiving.....!?

I am glad this topic was started. I am three weeks out and I am hosting Thanksgiving. I have only one family member out of the 25 that will show that know I had surgery. I figured I could eat turkey, green Beans and I may splurge on either a taste of mashed potatoes or pie....just a taste. I feel I can do that now. I have been fighting it in my mind about what to do/eat in front of everyone. I have my first fill the week after Thanksgiving. I do have 2cc's now, but really have not had any issues with any foods I have eaten so far. Any additional advice would be great. I am trying to not worry so much and just let my band talk to me.

    LAP BAND & PCOS

Hi Ladies, I as well have PCOS and have had a partial hysterectomy. I have one silly ovary hanging on. I was banded on November 4th. I am one week out. I have lost 14lbs so far. As far as PCOS goes I see some of you mentioned metformin. I did not do well on it either and switched to 2,000mg of cinnamon per day as well as a probiotic and that helped some with my symptoms. It may be worth a try??

    Anyother November 2013 bansters?

Day 5 for me el zorro. I hit the 10lb mark today myself. I had some mashed potatoes just today and they were amazing. Who knew they could taste so good LOL!!! They are on my list so I had some. I move onto my next stage of eating on Monday which will include meat. Looking forward to that. It sounds so yummy and filling. I have to eat three times a day and get in my Protein. I actually met those requirements today. I have a little abdominal soreness but no need for ibuprofen or tylenol anymore. Glad for that!!! el zorro, did you have any Fluid put in at band placement?

    Reflux

I will call Monday morning. I do not feel too terrible this evening. I kind of feel like I am getting a cold or my allergies are flaring up. Itchy throat and eyes NaNa.......cheese and pinto Beans are on my list to eat so I am going with it unless Dr says otherwise when I call.

    Reflux

Hello all, I was banded on Monday November 4th. I have had a pretty good recovery even ran to Wal-Mart for a few things yesterday. I was placed with a 10cc band and found out my surgeon put in 2cc at the time of surgery. I have been taking Dexilant for reflux twice a day for a while (before banding) I am taking now as well. Having said that I started with some slight reflux symptoms on Thursday and then yesterday eve, I felt burning and a little coughing when i went to bed last night. Nothing to keep me awake and NO vomiting. Is my body adjusting or do I need to do something else? Will papaya enzymes work for this? I am not having any issues eating or keeping food down. I feel some pressure in my breast bone when I am getting to my 3rd and 4th tbs, so I just stop wherever I am at and take that as my stopping/full point. Any advice?
  23. smpin1176

    Reflux

No hernia NaNa. I ate pretty much nothing on Monday and Tuesday, just ice chips and a Protein drink when I got home Tuesday afternoon. I have been sticking to my guidelines and here is what I have been eating Bandista: Protein shakes mashed potatoes cottage cheese yogurt pinto Beans pudding creamy chicken Soup Colby/jack cheese Water Crystal Light Everything above is on my list. I don't go to see my surgeon for three weeks. Should I call now? I am curious if my asthma is trying to flare up and this is affecting my reflux?

    Full Liquid stage

Hi Willzk3 I was banded on Monday the 4th (November) Just a few days ago. I move to tuna on Monday and I am thrilled to have meat again LOL. I feel full with just my mushies. I had no pre-op diet and could only tolerate full liquids the first couple of days but as healing has started mushies have been good. How is your progress going now?
  25. smpin1176

    What to eat

I was banded Monday as well. I was given Jello and apple juice in the hospital and did not do well, due to nausea from anesthesia. Dr told me to just do liquids until I was hungry and could move on to mushies (which is what I was to be on this week) My instructions were things like cream of wheat, oatmeal, apple sauce, instant mashed potatoes, jello, cottage cheese, creamed soups and pudding. I did cream of wheat, cottage cheese and creamed soup today along with my protein shakes. Your surgeons office should have given you clear instructions on what you should be eating and at what time. As you can see we are all on a different eating schedule with different recommended items to eat.
