xring3 got a reaction from Crystalmoon in 3 weeks Post Op and so sick
I understand your pain. I had the surgery over 10 years ago and had similar reactions. To this day if I eat or drink just a very little bit too much I get sick. This was one of the worst decisions I have ever made. I would recommend to everyone not to have this operation. Want to lose weight? Eat less and exercise.

I completely get it. If I had to do it over, I am not sure if I’d make the choice. I can’t tolerate dense Protein or Protein Drinks, I have the runs all the tome and no doctor wants to listen to me. My recovery was one of the most painful things I’ve experienced and I’m barley losing weight. I went from a heavy but healthy girl to a still heavy but always sick feeling one. I try and look at the positives but sometimes it’s just too much.

I am 10 months post-op, down 158 pounds. Starting BMI of almost 45 and now my BMI is right about 20! Under my ultimate goal by 14 lbs! I went to my very first club over the last weekend and felt so confident!!! So happy and excited to be here. I never thought I'd be here and it's all gone by so quickly. proud of my fellow weight loss warriors for all. your success. I figure I'll hold off on posting any more pictures until I hit that 1-year mark. Working out, maintaining and getting to my healthiest me. Sorry for the lack of "before" pics. I avoided the camera for an entire decade. Now I'm an obnoxious selfie queen! HA! Love and happiness to everyone. This is just to show it CAN BE DONE. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

When we go to a restaurant we immediately ask for a takeout box when we order our food. Sometimes I can stretch 3 meals out of it. The meal at the restaurant, evening meal and lunch the next day.

Happens to me also. One bite too much and it’s sick time. I’ve learned now it’s best to throw it away and not tempt fate.

Both my wife and I had sleeve surgery in 2013. She has acid reflux constantly and I have sour stomach no matter what I eat. Side effect of the surgery. Not a big fan of sleeve surgery but, too late now.

I’ve learned to cope with the negative side of WLS. I had it in 2013. Sick feeling if I eat one bite too much, the runs, flatulent, taste changes and the rest. Bottom line, at least for me, I would not do it again. I would diet on my own and watch what I eat. Also, I have noticed others that have had surgery, and lost a good deal of weight, have put it back on if they are not careful. Just my feelings.

My surgery was in 2013. To this day, if I eat one bite too much I get that sick feeling. One must learn not to take that extra bite. You’ll figure it out.

Yes! I am wondering how could I have done this to myself, but then I remember how being 266 lbs. and only 5'2 had an impact on every single thing I did. Getting into my car comfortably; walking from my car into my job; not being able to even do one set of stairs without gasping for breath and my legs hurting, but being embarrassed to stop; the avoidance of mirrors and my reflection; the dread of having to go anywhere because I had nothing to wear and was too tired.
I had the sleeve on 10/23 and it was the hardest experience of my life. I couldn't sleep in the hospital, the Water tasted horrible and well, it was just a bad experience. I went home the next day and took some Benedryl, with the okay of my doctor's office and that helped me sleep. I was still getting over my cold so had a steamer and couldn't talk very well. The worst was taking my regular meds all crushed with water and they gagged me and then took the pills for nausea. The first few days I had the worst headache of my life, probably due to all the meds I was on. Once I got some Tylenol, I got rid of my headache.
I'm starting my 4th week tomorrow. I got my Vitamins and do not like them. I don't like the berry chewables at all so will have to try something different. The Multivitamin makes me throw up and yesterday, I made a Protein Shake with skim milk and about a half hour, I was having stomach pains and diarrhea so bad that I lost two more pounds. So, maybe I am now sensitive to milk, so will always make my shakes with water.
Now, it's the mental. I want to eat. I'm mad that all I can take is two bites of something or I'll have stomach pains, throw up or have you know what. I have to go back to work day after tomorrow and I've enjoyed being home for three weeks.
My fat brain is mad that I can't eat like I used to anymore. I pray, I will be so happy in another few months, but right now, I'm not This is really, really, hard.

I had surgery in 2013. Flatulent is a constant problem ever since. Surgeon said I’d probably have to live with it. Good luck.

I am 1 weeks out. And my gut feeling was not to do it! I had a terrible time with the band and this is no different! I even asked my surgeon AND nutritionist about my health issues BEFORE and they assured me I’d be fine! I have IBS (now terrible diarrhea and a fissure), Migraines (can’t drink anything with artificial sweeteners so I’m dehydrated-water makes me vomit due to the metallic taste in my mouth)! I am hungry, in pain, and dehydrated and the only thing they want me to do is go to ER! I can’t spend 4 months in the ER because I can’t drink Water or anything else!!! I have 4 kids! I should have just accepted my body for what it was! Seriously sick of myself and my dr. It’s all about the money for them! Sorry so negative but I needed to rant and cry....somewhere..

I call this the "little operation from Hell" ! Never got the results indicated and still became diabetic. The gastric gas is so BAD I may never find a partner to "put up" with me. I do take Probiotics which helps some.I eat so Iittle it is a wonder I dont look like a Biafrin ..(starving child in Africa) Thankfully I have not lost anymore because so far I have not had TT or breasts done! It would be a nightmare! The last visit to the doctor I told her that they are not making any more money off of my issues. I have supported them in the lifestyle that they are accustomed to living long enough! As far as I'm concerned they are all Quacks in the traditional medical profession and they don't study enough about what's new and upcoming so they just push the pills and expect you to get better... I am so done!!

@xring3 my signature line sums it up. my lovely bride and I decided to spend some of the kids inhertance on ourselves. she is 8 pounds from her goal and I am 44 pounds. she is 3 1/2 months out and I am just over 2 out. funny how little food fill you up. when we go out to eat we tell the waitress to bring a to go box when we order. able to make 3 or 4 more meals with the leftovers.

Well....as I am probably going to be pummeled again for my answer.....it is no...would not have the surgery again....I would concentrate on watching my eating habits, more exercise and use self control. As I have made these statements in the past I am ready for the negative comments. Sorry if I offend some but, this is how I feel.

I regret this surgery. And I regret that my mom is in the hospital at this very moment fighting for her life because of WLS.
It almost killed me, has made my fibromyalgia 10x worse, given me digestive issues, mental abuse by those in the medical field, take 40-47 pills a day (not counting Vitamin supplements), looking at more possible surgeries from side effects of the sleeve and now it's killing my mother? I researched for a FULL year, every day, all day before surgery.
Yes. I have LOADS of regrets.

If I had it to do again, I would not have the surgery. I would have been more focused on watching what I eat and the amounts taken in. I did lose weight and have kept it off but, the aftermath is worse than anticipated. I have responded to questions on this topic in the past and generally get pummeled for my thoughts. Perhaps the supporters would rather I keep to myself.
