My kid made a large batch of Turkey burgers and I’m the only one eating them 🧐 At least they’re good! I ate about 70% of this but logged the whole meal

This has been my go to Breakfast this week. Two hard boiled eggs, half an avocado diced and mixed together in a bowl. I did add in a pinch or two of shredded cheese - I used some Kerrygold Dubliner cheese because that’s what I had already shredded. Spread the mixture on two slices of toasted Sara Lee 45 cal bread, no butter and sprinkle with everything bagel season. Adjust as necessary as the everything bagel can be salty. The mixture egg/avocado mix makes two servings so below toast is half the bowl spread on the toast.  About 200 calories per slice.

That’s interesting. Cultural differences?? It’s always promoted as Yum Cha here in Australia and we all call it that. Shall we go for Yum Cha? Does that Chinese offer Yum Cha? Funny the differences in terminology around food. Cookies - biscuits. Jelly - jam (not to be confused with marmalade). Romaine - Cos. Courgette -zucchini. All purpose flour - plain flour.Aubergine - eggplant. Fries - chips. ketchup - Tomato sauce. ….

Everyone loses at their own rate. There are many factors that can influence your rate of loss (constipation, diarrhoea, Fluid retention, your body’s reaction to the surgery, starting weight, medications, etc.). Though it can be difficult, try not to compare yourself with others. It will only lead to frustration & feeling you’re failing. You’re not failing. You’ve lost 4lbs in 11 days - yay!
Remember too that many nerves were cut during your surgery so messages about feeling full or eaten enough either aren’t getting through or the messages are distorted. It takes around 8 weeks to be fully healed & when your messages start to come back they may be different to what you remember. It’s why it’s important to stick to the portion recommendations you were advised & to eat slowly (takes a good 20+ minutes for a full message to get through when you’re healed).
Portion sizes do differ but 4-6oz at 11days seems a lot. My plan was 1/4 - 1/3 cup of food from purée slowly increasing to a cup at 6 months & 3 meals a day. Fluids were just sip, sip, sip, regardless of what I was drinking. So it took me a couple of hours to drink a shake or a cup of Soup too. But that was my plan & plans differ. Check your plan for portions & also the foods you are allowed at each stage. I could have cottage cheese at weeks 3 & 4 purées & chili at the soft food stage at weeks 5 & 6.
    Congrats on your surgery.

I'm a fan of under the desk ellipticals or cycles. It keeps me mobile all day even when I have to work at the desk. I have bad knees and there's no strain on my knees using those either.

I hope this finds you well and you are okay. From my understanding, the upper GI series your surgeon has recommended is a crucial diagnostic tool. It can provide insights into various post-surgical changes, such as alterations in the anatomical structure of the gastrointestinal tract or potential issues with nutrient absorption. This non-invasive test is instrumental in identifying the underlying causes of unexpected weight fluctuations following weight loss surgery. It’s a key step in ensuring your ongoing health and well-being.

Tomo reacted to catwoman7 in How Do I Know if I Need to Drop Calories or if This is a Stall?
if you increased your weight training, it could be Water retention. Muscles hold on to water. Calories sound OK at this point in your journey with the added weight training, so I wouldn't drop those until you rule everything else out. AND three-week (or longer) stalls aren't uncommon when you get that far out. I remember times around the year mark (and after) thinking "OK - so this must be it.", and then I'd end up dropping 2 or 3 lbs. So it's not over 'til it's over..
EDITED to add that I just checked your stats. You're very close to goal. The closer you get, the slower the weight comes off. Those last 20 lbs were a BEAR for me to lose - but I just stuck with it and finally managed to make it

@FifiLux is correct. Surgeons often have different recommendations & different surgeries have different requirements too. Plus you may have specific needs.
For example, my surgeon only required a multi Vitamin & a D3 (for two months only) & I could swallow them as tablets as soon as possible (about day 4 post surgery). Others are told only chewables or a patch for a period of time. Others are required to take Calcium &/or Iron as well as the multi vitamin.

Tomo reacted to Arabesque in Calling all vets- need reset/regain help
Life just throws it all at you some times & I’m sorry you’ve been through a lot.
Unfortunately the pouch reset is a fairy story/old wives’ tale. What needs to be reset is not your tummy but your head. Remember all that head work we had to do in the beginning? The stress, emotions & changes you’ve been experiencing has likely meant those old bad habits have snuck in again & you’ve been turning to food to comfort yourself. It’s easy to become complacent too. All completely understandable.
Don’t know if you were a food tracker or not, but tracking even for a couple of weeks like @Spinoza suggested will help you identify what you may need to adjust - food choices, Protein & fluid goals, portion sizes, nutrition. Then start by making one or two changes & another one or two a couple of weeks later. Small changes are easier to adopt & adapt to. Probably aim to get back to about where you were when your weight stabilised & how you initially maintained.
Maybe contact your nut/dietician to help you get back in the right mindset. Therapy may help you manage & better cope with the stress you’ve been experiencing too so you don’t turn to food.
You’ve been successful for ten years. You can do it again. All the best.

OK I am not a vet so feel free to ignore. Someone with much more experience will be along shortly and I too will be reading with interest.
If you could track what you're eating now, in an app of your choosing, then that might help A LOT. Know thine enemy and all that.
If I was in your shoes (and I may well be in a few years' time) then I think I would go back to Protein first at most meals. Loads of veggies first at at least one meal a day too - raw or cooked. Track all of your macros. Ditch ultra processed foods and refined carbs *completely* - they are nobody's friends.
For my own info please may I ask how long you maintained for following your sleeve and how quickly you regained when things got stressful?

After having my surgery cancelled last month due to the abrupt closure of my hospital's bariatric practice, I have a new date at another hospital in the area and can hardly wait for the time to fly by. I'm scheduled for gastric bypass on February 21. Any other February peeps out there?

I don't follow a low carb but I had asked something similar to my team, and basically they said that you count only Net carbs. So if it were up to my team, you can definitely have that tortilla lol. ^^

If you haven't already, can get your Ferritin levels checked. My hair started falling out when my Ferritin got below 20 ng/ml. I read 70 ng/ml is the key figure to stop Hair loss from THAT particular reason. But yeah, unfortunately, hair loss can be from several different reasons, for example, just stress from any surgery. For many of us during the WLS process, it is inevitable but luckily, it does grow back.

Tomo got a reaction from Arabesque in High protein vs HIgh fiber or both ?
Yeah, I second @Catwoman7. Somewhere in the ballpark of 30 grams is what is recommended. Some days I may get a lot more, but a daily 66 grams of Fiber a day does seem quite high. Can ask your team what they think. Everybody is different.

66 grams of Fiber is REALLY high. The recommended amount is about 20-30, as I recall. Most people have a hard time getting even that much.

I am currently three years post sleeve sitting ten pounds heavier than when I stared contemplating the SADI revision surgery. I am pretty hopeful and excited this time though. I am already eating better, exhaustively researching the procedure and the future diet. Finally I found a therapist that specializes in disordered eating near me who is taking new patients. It wouldn’t be possible without telehealth because she’s a couple hours away (something positive that came from COVID). Within 15 minutes tonight we discussed my mental health, medications, medical history, potential surgery, a change in the dietician and touched on some of my emotional eating concerns. She thinks she can help me and she asked me to think about it and talk it over with my current therapist and if we agree it’s a good idea she wants me to sign a release so that she and my therapist can work together. I feel so excited and hopeful that this is going to make all the difference this time. I am curious how long the process usually takes. I’m hoping I will have a pretty good idea of how much help I need and know whether I am ready to move forward by the time my surgery date rolls around.

That’s just the two meals I was with them. Ha! I think they’d do home delivery or ready meals almost every day. They justify it by saying t’s a time thing (running around with 5 children) but we waited 90 odd minutes on Sunday night for the meal to arrive. The children were ravenous & gnawing on their arms by the time it arrived. We could have gone to the shop, bought a chicken, roasted it & vegetables in less time. I’m someone who predominately cooks everything from scratch so it wigs me out a bit (a lot). Lol!

I had Vietnamese last night for the first time since my surgery. I had forgotten how much I like viet food - the clean, fresh flavours. I had prawn salad which I always enjoyed. I ate 5 prawns & the very small disappointing amount of cucumber, carrot & lettuce & a little of the mint. Bought home a bowl 2/3 filled with 2 leftover prawns & all the noodles.
My brother & his family eat far too much takeaway. Eating with them twice in the last two weeks is why I’ve eaten takeaway twice too which I rarely normally do.

I have too many favorites but the one that popped up in my mind reading your post is probably Hakata ramen (aka Tonkotsu Ramen) from the Fukuoka prefecture, Japan. I also like Singapore noodles which are not for Singapore but interestingly a Cantonese dish. So suffice it say, I can't have my favorite dishes too often lol.
