    Lets talk about shoes!

Huge change! I went from a 9 wide to an 8 or 8 1/2 and I can wear heels! I bought a pair of beautiful high heeled boots and wore them all winter. Now I am wearing heels 2 - 3 inch heels, platform sandals and wedges daily. It's what 120 less lbs does! My knees and ankles were awful before and I had to wear orthotics. No more!

Freehold, NJ but had surgery in Livingston.
  5. I am so psyched! Went to The Lord and Taylor outlet and bought a Michael Kors blazer in a size 10 and an Oleg Cassini dress in a 12! I was in a tight 24 last year. I am still losing-- slowly-- but if I never lose another pound I am soooo happy !
  6. Hi! Last Saturday, at 4 weeks post surgery, I went out to Celebrate a dear friend's birthday at really great restaurant that I loved pre-surgery. I looked at all the appetizer and Soup options and none of them were what I wanted. (And since I eat so little, I only eat what I want that is high in protein). So, I asked the waiter if there was any way I could just get a couple of scallops-- I told him that I had recently had abdominal surgery and was restricted on what I could eat. Of course, he replied--I can get you an "add-on" of scallops. It was delicious-- three beautiful scallops with a sauce on the side. I ate two and gave one to a friend. The cost: $6. I had no little containers to take home and leave in the car or the fridge, I felt like I was a real part of the group and called no attention to myself. I even had a little taste of dessert--just a spoonful. Thinking that maybe this was a fluke and that I couldn't do this anywhere else, I checked with an expert: my son who is a chef at a resort and who has worked in a number of high-end restaurants in the north east. He said that add-ons are routinely done, and that anyone can ask for one. Generally they things such as shrimp, or scallops, or clams or a lobster tail, but that one could ask for an add-on of anything on the menu that could be available in smaller portions. Yahoo! I am excited that I can go out and be able to eat what I need to eat and not have to carry around food. When we go out, it is often before a show or a movie, and to me the idea of carrying leftovers to a show is not so fun.

    50's

I was 56 when I had surgery February 28, 2013. I have lost 115 lbs--20 to go to my goal of 150. I also was approved on the first request to the insurance and I think it is both-- good insurance and a healthier me! Good luck!!!
  8. I had surgery 2/28/13 and have lost 114 lbs. I have 20 to go. I saw the plastic surgeon last week and I can have surgery as soon as we get the insurance finished.
  9. I'm reading! I'm going to see the plastic surgeon Wednesday for a consult. I have lost 112 lbs and am about 25 lbs from goal. The panni is really driving me crazy. It's so uncomfortable. Hope I can get it removed soon.

    Overeating

Gee. There's another example of the significant difference. I eat 70-90 grams of protein, 1200 calories and a significant amount of salad and at least one apple and one additional veggie a day. I have lost 112 lbs since surgery 2/28/13. My doc stresses that we need to exist in the world and learn how to eat long term. I need those veggies and apple to make everything work right and keep good nutrition for the rest of my life.

    Overeating

It sounds like you are doing fine. I think the lettuce is good for your digestion, too. Just remember to chew, chew, chew. My doc says the stretching of the stomach is minimal--the area they now make the pouch from isn't very stretchy. He told me that once all the swelling is gone and the pouch totally healed, I will be able to eat about 2/3 cup of food. And, that is where I am. Keep your Water intake up too, because if you are not drinking enough water it is easy to think you are hungry. Sounds to me like you are doing great!

    Overeating

I think that 400 calories is really low. If your doctor said 800 calories, then I would go with your doctor. I had surgery Feb. 28, 2013, so I am a little over a year post surgery and can eat between 1/2 cup and 2/3 cup of food. salad is a little trickier because that is essentially Water once it is chewed well. I really don't remember the exact week when I ate salad--thinking it was more like week 12, but I do remember wanting to eat salad from day one! Just go slowly and only eat exactly the amounts that your doctor says. Maybe you should talk to the doctor about the nutritionist's recommendations? Just a thought...S

Sometimes a piece of bread. 9 another chobani yogurt. I average 1200 calories, 60 grams carbs and 80-90 grams protein. Sometimes I eat an extra cheese. I have 10 cups if water too.
  15. Hi. I am being evaluated for hypoglycemia. My weight loss really slowed--6 weeks no change. It started to drop again last week, but slowly. What is your diet? How close are you to goal? I'm 25 lbs away.

    Pouch problems any one?

I had small bowel obstruction with a hernia. According to a few doctors I see, it's not too uncommon. The pain is awful. I was very constipated. I was so bad the day I finally got to the hospital that I was delirious. There is no definitive test-- the surgeon said it's only definitive after exploratory surgery. I was lucky-- my bowel pinked right up. I was in hospital for 5 days. Btw-- bypass was 2/28/13 and hernia surgery was 8/30/13.

    Yoghurts

Try Chobani 100. No sugar but stevia and monkfruit to sweeten. It's really good

    What ya eating tonight?

Try chobani 100. They are sweetened with monk fruit and stevia, both natural zero calorie sweeteners. I love the pineapple with a sprinkle of sliced almonds and a bit of shredded coconut. Absolutely wonderful.

    Migraines amd RNY

I have been much better on migraines since surgery but still have had some. My neurologist did Botox. It is great! I also use maxalt which is ok with my pouch.
  23. I have suffered with constipation and had a bowel obstruction and hernia. I was warned about constipation after the obstruction and hernia were corrected. Turns out I am very sensitive to iron in the multivitamin and that was contributing to my constipation. I can have one or two iron tablets ( low dose) a week and that with the meat I eat provides me with good iron levels. You might want to see if the iron is causing the problem.

    100+ To Loose

I am down 108 lbs and 30 lbs from my final goal of 150. I am thrilled! I had surgery 2/28/13--11 months ago and it has been great. We can do this!
  25. I had the funniest experience. My husband and I went to a holiday party Saturday that we have gone to for five years. We always go with the same couple and have a nice time. This time, I walked in with my friend as our husbands parked the car. I noticed the host--who is a friend of my husband's more than my friend--acted a little strange when I greeted her and kept looking at me strangely. I am used to that. Imagine my surprise today when my friend called and said that our host called her, very concerned. She asked when my husband had taken up with a new woman, who ironically had the same first name. When my friend assured her that there was no wife, just a slimmer one, she was stunned! I am still laughing!
