    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

My nut set my goal at 78g/day. It is probably lower as I lose weight. MFP has me closer to half that but I ignore it. Some days I'm just shy - others I go over. Protein is impt for: a) healing 2) feeling full and c) most impt to me: it forces our bodies to burn stored fat vs muscle. W/o it the body will burn muscle before fat - I guess it is just more easily combustible.

    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

Just gave my dog a flea dip. I think it's safe to say my stomach is healing nicely
  3. From my own experience - it's good your manager knows. I was banded on the 11th and planned to return to work on the 15th and made it a few hours before being totally exhausted. I ended up taking most of last week off. My manager knew it would all be a little TBD and was very accommodating.

    How long is surgery?

Mine was abt 50 minutes - but it was a cpl hours before I was awake enough to understand that my fam was there to visit me. I was inpatient tho so wasn't waiting on a ride.

    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

Itching has always equaled healing in my book when it comes to cuts, etc.

What should i do after slimmed/vomit episode.

Sounds like the second episode was what I've seen called a PB - productive burp. Different from vomiting. I haven't had this happen yet, but going back to liquids for a couple days might be a good idea in case your band/esophagus is irritated.

I just woke the dog up laughing out loud to this.

    Im ready

Hahahahaha - I am so there! I have been trying to talk my hubs into it the last 3 days and he says he won't until next week because he is anxious about my stomach/incisions. He has until Monday.

Wear to and from the hospital?

Amen to slip on shoes! I also had my sister bring m a sports bra the day I had surgery. I'm pretty large chested and one of my breasts was pressing on an incision. The nurse said so long as the bra band didn't press on the incision it was fine to wear and was a life saver. I've worn a sports bra or soft cup bra every day since surgery (I'm 10 days post op) - can do underwire yet.

    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

Peanut butter is on my list of "be careful with this and maybe wait till you are more experienced with the band" in the packet from my nut. Yesterday i had lentil soup and it was divine. Today I had a couple tablespoons of tuna salad - it was basically applesauce texture before it went in my mouth. Also had a cup (well 1/2 cup) of broccoli cheddar soup from Subway since I was out with my sister and nephew at dinner time. All worked out great. Bought some diff kinds of squash today and am gonna experiment with soup recipes this week.

    Day 1

    5. 4 small ones and 1 longer one near my port. Nothing in my belly button.
  14. I read on here that liquids go right thru... Is that accurate? And how long does food hang in there? I'm guessing 30 min giving drinking restrictions during meals but realized I don't actually know.

My first NSV - wearing a pair of shorts I couldn't get on at the start of summer!
  16. You look great! The haircut. The hourglass figure. But the thing I love most is your smile - you look really happy and healthy!

    pain

If you are concerned I'd call your doc. I did have an increase in port pain several days after surgery (when everything else seemed to be feeling better and better) and saw my doc because I was concerned. He thinks I just overdid it on a walk the day before and strained a muscle a bit. I've been fine since.

    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

When I started trying my side out I would hug a pillow to my stomach and for whatever reason that seemed to help.

    Pre-Op diet

Mine too - I just knew I'd be traveling for work for a big conference when I had to start and I didn't want to freak out on ppl I really believe you will wake up one day and see the scale move in a hurry! And with the exercise you are doing your body good.
