That's great!! I was approved and had surgery March 18 th. There was nothing to it. The only thing you should have to pay up front is your portion of the surgeons fee. After surgery you'll have to wait and see who bills first bc you are certain to meet your out of pocket max. I paid 940 so far. Best if luck!!

How is everyone!! I miss you guys! What are you eating? How are you feeling?

Hi, I am having a problem and need some advice, my surgery was March 20th. Ladt Wednesday my diet was advanced to soft
Foods i. Today I advanced further to deli meats, canned pears and peaches vegetables etc. I had some deli chicken1.5 slices and some roasted carrots with cauliflower and onion..I think I didn't chew the carrot enough annd have had hiccups and inability to swallow anything...it may have been a small obstruction. It seemed to clear as soon as vomited. It's been about 5 hours since I ate so I tried a little egg salad, ,,my stomach is slightly painful and I couldn't eat more then two teaspoons...has anyone else had this? How long did it take to go back to normal?
Once you vomit you should stick to Clear Liquids for 24 hours. But since you cleared the obstruction you should be feeling normal again pretty soon. Best of luck!

It's been a few days!! Sorry I've missed y'all though!! Add me on myfitnesspal. It's easier if u search by email : kathypitcher@rocketmail.com. I'm doing good. Eating soft foods. I made the mistake of drinking through a straw the other day. Accidentally of course, and I was sick for almost an hour burping and puking until the HUGE air bubble I swapped finally decided to resurface.
I also want to tell y'all about my new favorite food!! I bought the fresh pico de Galla at Bi-lo in the produce section and I mixed about half of it with an avocado and mushed it all together. OH MY GOODNESS!!! Soooooo good!!
I want to see your food diaries on MFP so I can get some ideas!! My diary is viewable by MFP friends so add me!!
Love you guys. Prayers for you all!

Ok ladies! I just had an awesome Protein shake! I got Jordan's skinny mixers pomegranate margarita mixer 4oz' date=' 0cals 0sugar. (got it at bed bath and beyond), added 1 scoop of unflavored whey Protein from GNC and 2oz of ice. Used my new magic bullet to make it into a smoothie consistency. 130 cals and 24g of protein. Tastes like a pomegranate smoothie. Definitely my favorite recipe so far.Now the only downside is that it got really foamy so I had to let it rest for the foam to go away since I don't know if I should be introducing that air into my tummy. Otherwise EXCELLENT!!

I use the bullet as well!! I've also had the problem with the foam. I found if you pulse the shake instead of just letting it run steady until its at the consistency u want there will be a lot less foamy!!

Back in hospital. After several days of trying to deal with what I thought was just your average pain after surgery I finally gave in and went to the er. Got admitted yesterday. So far cat scans upper gi X-rays' date=' and much more to come. Today is a procedure to add a drain and possibly feeding tube. Will go from there and see if that resolves the issue. There is a leak into the remnant stomach and possibly fissures?? Even after all this I do not regret what I have done. I hope things start looking better soon [/quote']Praying for you

Feeling so fortunate today. I went to my one week post op appointment and I am down 10 pounds. My surgeon said that I am doing wonderful and right where I should be. However' date=' I also found out that my roommate, my surgeons first case of the day, had a heart attack and died last night. I am so sad for her family. I can't imagine the pain they must be going through. It just makes me realize that I am so glad I made this decision right now before I got to the point where it was dangerous to have the procedure done or that it was surgery or death. She was older and had a lot of co-morbidities but I am just torn up for her family right now. Her husband and I talked a lot during her stay, I just can't even imagine [/quote']Im so sorry to hear that. My prayers go out to them.

Just checking in everyone. I'm six days post op and its been ups and downs. Pain has been very manageable. Just a lot of weak spells and some nausea. Just trying to get fluids in and walk and rest. I just want to throw out docs orders and sleep for days. I know the less I take in the worse I feel. I'll get there. I just need more time to heal right? I k ow it'll get better.
My prayers are with tomorrow's surgery peeps. Love you guys. I need your prayers and positive thoughts. Still feeling really overwhelmed.

The G tube is to help me get nutrients fluids while I'm learning my new pouch. I only have to have it for four weeks. It is a lot to take in but I'm okay with it. Just so stinking stuffed all the time.
-
I'm having a good day! My biggest problem is being so full. I have a Gtube that goes to my remnant stomach, and I have to put two boost shakes in there as well as any of the 80oz of fluids that I can't get into my pouch each day. The problem is I don't feel like my remnant stomach is emptying like it should b/c it's always full, I have to constantly open the tube and empty my stomach. I'm getting around good, and having minimal pain. The key to getting rid of the gas is to walk!! That does it every time. Everytime I get up and walk for even ten minutes, I have to pee and pass gas, sometimes even a BM. So walk, walk, walk. I just want to feel normal and not so full!!
-
I'm home!! My surgeon was hesitant, but he decided I could go. I'm super tired, and FULL!!! I've been trying to walk a little here and there, but I've decided it's nap time. Just wanted to check in with you all, and wish the best for every one pre and post op!

Hey everybody I'm supposed to be going home today I had a pretty rough morning. I had throw up and drain my g tube 3 times i don't know what caused the nausea. I did just take off my anti-nausea patch last night and i'm wondering if i would have been feeling this way every morning. I've got a headache that won't quit. I'm going to take a shower around noon and hopefully my surgeon will release me to go home. I hope you are all doing well.

I'm so glad to hear everyone is doing so well!! I've been drinking 2 oz of blue Powerade every hour since 8:30. It's all I can do to get that down! I have a spirometer that I have to use 10 times an hour. And I've walked three times today. The pain is a little worse now than before b/c I'm off Morphine and on Loritab. I don't like the way the Loritab feels on my "old" stomach. I'l get through! I have to remember why I'm doing it.

Finally feeling better after two transfusions. More tests tonight and tomorrow the maybe get to go home! Asked my parents to come visit so they will be there to help out S hubby must work. Hoping to feel better soon! Already passed the pee and poo portion of the tests! Just gotta get rid of the anemia and bad oxygen levels. Hope everyone who is on the other side is feeling good!!
I'm anemic too, b/c of loooong bad periods with pcos. I've done the transfusion thing, and it usually helps. I'm so glad you might be going home!!

Kathy, what do they have you doing for the bowel prep? My Dr has me drinking one 8 oz bottle of Magnesium Citrate.
That GoLytley stuff. It was a big 4 liter bottle with pineapple flavored powder in the bottom, just fill shake and chug 8 oz every ten minutes. Oh my goodness. It was rough! I'm all done now, I had to drink it 17 times! On the last one I thought I wasn't going to be able to hold it down! So glad that's over.

You'll get through it girl!! It's the first step of many. Just be positive and stay by the bathroom! It will prepare u for the barium u have to drink after ur surgery.
I'm almost 2 weeks out and I could care less about any of that stuff now. It's all been worth it.
Thanks for the positive words. I gotta remember why I'm doing it.
