Heyyy y'all! -
Any Gold coasters Australia ?
phil2912 replied to helpmesleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry for the late reply! I've lost about 13kg since surgery and I was in hospital for 6 days (but that's about double or more than the expected time. I had a bit of excess bleeding which Dr. Nolan said doesn't happen often at all - maybe once ever 18 months or so he might get a bleeder -

It is hard but it will soon be a thing of the past! You are definitely in good hands with a good team around you. The pre-op diet isn't the best but ur moving forward which is the most important thing -

Dr Nolan is brilliant! He did my surgery exactly a month ago Are you seeing Deb and Fiona (or rather have you met them?) both are fantastic as well!!! -
I agree with loving.life I was told 1-2 small squares is fine. Otherwise could u make a chocolate Flavoured Protein drink (say with sugar free drinking chocolate?) I use a product called Milo (it may be exclusive to Australia?) it's made from barley, anyway I make Milo Flavoured Protein shakes and it seems to work well. I've even tried it with plain cocoa powder and added my own sweetener. That wasn't too bad either, save for the fact I made it way too strong! Phil

Any singers / vocalists out there?
phil2912 replied to Melanie36's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I think it depends... I was back singing at church about 3 weeks out. Just don't over do it. The more time u allow to heal the better imo. Good luck -
I had an Omega loop too!! Your the first person I've seen in here who has had it done! My sugar reading have come down (from about 20 to 12) still high but not as bad. The main reason I got this surgery was because of metabolic syndrome. My bmi was closer to 35 than to 40 so I don't know why my sugars haven't been able to be controlled... I was on maximum doses of 2 oral meds and an injection (similar to. Insulin) but still no luck... It will be interesting to see the hb1ac readings at 3 months Post-op.

HELP! Before My Husband Ends Up Where I Am!
phil2912 replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
LumpySpacePrincess, I think your post was brilliantly written and I couldn't agree with you more... Those eating habits (that were formed together) are like a tether to a previous you. I think we often forget how such major changes in our lives will affect those around us. Ree you sound like a caring, compassionate and understanding wife and your need for your husband to 'be careful' shows how much you love him. It's amazingly beautiful! A heart-to-heart could work (or he could be stubborn about it) but it could be argued that the important thing is that you are trying! As bad as it might sound (and I sincerely hope it doesn't get to this stage) he may need to come to his own realisations that he is doing himself a disservice by 'letting himself go'. But please don't give up on him, because if he does get to that point he doesn't need someone standing there telling him 'I told you so'. He will need you there as a pillar of support and will start to realise that you were right (without you having even said it). If you don't mind me asking how old is your husband? As Chelenka indicated he could be emotionally eating. Can you see anything which might be causing him excess stress? (keeping in mind that seeing his wife slim down and become 'more desirable to other men', could be a source of stress in itself!) Again don't give up on him, little changes and hints can go a long way. Good luck! -

It's closing... Or at least I think it is. Is it weird to be getting hungry a week after having surgery? Could anyone possibly shed some light on this please? Also I'm hoping to move up to pureed foods tomorrow! Fingers Crossed my Dietician gives me the all clear! -

This is my first post! But I had my surgery on Tuesday 4th March. I was told to take my bandage out on Monday but I felt the hole was still gaping so I covered it the a fabric bandage. Maybe you could cover the drain incision with a bandage as well?
