Read your article, nice progress. I also have had no complications with the band and have lost 100+ with no weight gain. I am right by Ridgefield, NJ. I think as long as you follow the rules as you do, it’s a great option. It saved my life too and that was what made me do it also.

I have also had success with the band. I followed all the drs instructions and have no regrets because it changed my life for the better. I started out at 276 and I’m 178 now! The way I eat is completely different now. I work out and I diet like a normal person. I don’t try to beat the band or see what slides down. I have had zero complications and it has been years. My favorite food used to be chicken wings. I can’t eat them anymore, new fav food is sushi. My taste buds have changed. I used to love chocolate anything. I now eat a balanced diet and have incorporated yogurt, vegetables I can digest, salad is tough sometimes, Soups, ground turkey, and even tofu. I don’t crave meat because I can’t really eat it but I try to get my Protein where I can. All good things and hope to lose another 45 lbs. and I will continue to do my best everyday. Good luck!

I disagree. I am 5 years out this month. I love my band. It keeps me in check. Most people that don’t like the band is because they don’t follow the rules. Of course there are medical issues that occur and it needs to be removed. I started at 225 and now I am down to 167. I am now a size 8-10. Kept it off for 5 years. I work out a lot and when I eat foods that I shouldn’t or too much food I pay the price. It reminds me NOT to do it again. It’s not a magic pill. It’s just a tool but you have to be nice to it.

Glad everyone is feeling better for the most part! I have minimal pain from the port still but I can function at work and I'm a pre-k teacher. I'm loving being able to eat some soft foods. Between my pre-op diet and being banded on May 12th, I am down 17 lbs. today. I can't help but weigh myself once in awhile. I am excited for this next phase in my life.

I took a week off. I was still sore when I returned to work. Coughing, standing up without being hunched over, laughing, and swallowing all hurt so bad. I have a semi physical job where I chase toddlers and have to lift things normally so I was just an extra set of eyes in the room for 3 weeks. It gets better after about weeks with hernia repair I think.

Today I am 2 months post op. I had my second fill 2 days ago. I only lost 3 lbs. in 3 weeks with the 3 cc. Fourth of July weekend was full of temptation. Potato salad, macaroni salad and tons of grilled food. I managed to just eat my slider burger that I brought and then was pretty full and ok with very light snacking. I now feel a little tighter. I forgot to ask how much more they put in the band. I just ordered a kids meal at Cracker Barrel last night and was good with that. Eating at social times is the hardest for me. I also started exercising today besides walking. I bought the 21 day fix with the Portion Control containers and I highly recommend it! They have a modified version of every exercise. During the week I have my routine with what I bring for Breakfast and lunch and that seems to be working. Good luck, I think it's hardest in the beginning and will get easier. I hope to lose 2 lbs. a week now. ????

Hello, just wondering why you would skip breakfast? You can at least have a Protein Shake or bar? Because that is what will kick start your metabolism. By starving yourself like that, you are actually slowing down your metabolism. That would probably help with weight loss but I am only almost 2 months post
Op. I never skip breakfast and I either have a shake or lowfat Greek yogurt. Good luck!

I also am also 20 lbs. down and was able to buy a Lauren Conrad dress from Kohl's and it was a pretty good feeling. Small victories and big success in the future. I'm loving the band, had my surgery on 5/12/15 and only just had my first fill of 3cc. I feel a slight difference so far but not too tight with no stuck issues. Good luck and continued success!

Welcome and congrats. I was banded on May 12th and also had the hernia repair. I felt like I was in a lot of pain too! I would say on day 5 it got a little better. The first three days I could barely think about food or getting my Protein down because of the pain and gas also. I used gas x strips that dissolves on your tongue. I just sipped the shakes as long as it took and by day 7 I finally felt that empty hungry feeling again. I just had my 2 week post op appointment and they have moved me up to mushy/puréed food. Keep in touch and hang in there and walking or someone karate chopping your back can help break up the gas pain. Hope this helps.

I'm day 3 post op. I still have a lot of pain (hernia repair) and I'm not doing well consuming anything. I'm so over Protein Shakes but I try to sip it.
I definitely can't drink 2. I've tried Soup and I even had an applesauce because I'm hungry I guess. I've had ice pops but nothing is filling me. I was wondering if anyone had a cream soup the first week? I know you have to follow your own Drs. Directions but I don't feel like I'm consuming enough Protein or liquids. Frustrated so any input appreciated.

Update: there was absolutely nothing wrong with me. The blood work came back the same and the Dr. Just explained some people just have higher levels. So, I'm rescheduled for May 12th!

Hi all, my surgery was supposed to be today 4/28. On two occasions, my white blood cell count was high. I repeated the test and it's slowly coming down. Started at 13.4 and I'm at 11.8 now but they would like it under 10. They sent me to a hematologist and I was freaking out of course. Is this serious I asked? Cancer? Leukemia? Because I kept asking where an infection might be coming from and nobody knows!!
He assured me it's nothing serious but I feel totally fine! I'm not sick at all but I do work in a daycare. So, I'm awaiting results on May 4th and will hopefully be cleared for my new surgery day 5/12. They tell me to stay away from germs haha I'm in a cesspool of germs but trying frequent hand washing and sanitizer and Vitamins. It's a helpless feeling even though I know they have my best interest at heart. You prepare and focus on your surgery date the entire time and then this happens! Sorry, just had to vent. I am happy to see so many positive stories here and cannot wait to be one of them!
