  3. Sounds to me like you're doing just fine! Just keep doing what you're doing, the weight will come off. Remember to Celebrate every loss, and every positive change...on the scale, but especially those great things that happen that the scale can't show! Good luck!

Banded 4 days... Liquid phase is killing me!

My head hunger right out of surgery was unbelievable!! My mind was just so used to shoveling food in, I think I was feeling lost! When I'd actually listen to my body, I was truly feeling satisfied with what little I was eating. You're doing great so far, just keep with it. This won't last forever!!

I think I've had slip.. Help

The best thing to do if you're concerned is call your doctors office and see what they advise you to do (come in now or wait). Good luck, and keep us posted with what you find out!

    Suggestions?

I don't consider 1.6lbs a gain, or anything to be concerned about...that's more likely Water weight than anything. I'm sure that'll fall off in no time!! As far as measuring, I only measure out what I can physically stick into a measuring cup. So, I'll have about 1/4 cup of veggies, 1/4 of starch (potatoes, rice, etc), and about 3oz of meat. I don't weigh my meat, though...I just use the '3oz looks like a deck of cards idea'. Seems to work fine for me.

    Considering the Lapband..

Yup, I'm pretty sure we've all had these exact feelings and doubts. I was so nervous, and while I really really wanted this to work, in all honestly, I never truly had the faith that I could REALLY make this happen. Here I am, almost a year later the smallest I've been since middle school. The pre op and post op diets aren't exactly 'easy', but if you keep the mindset that it's only temporary...really just a blink of time in our lives. It's over before you know it. Other than soda...and holy buckets, I LOVED my Diet Coke!!!!! I missed it at first, now I don't even want it...I haven't had to totally give up any of my favorite foods. It's a big learning experience, for sure, but it's so so worth it to get your life back!! You and only you can make it happen...and I KNOW you can do it!

    Lost my way

First off, I'm so very sorry to hear about your father. My thoughts are with you and your family. It's so easy to turn to food for comfort, but remember, that's what got you here in the first place. It won't make you feel any better in the long run. You could start by doing simple things, such as keeping yourself accountable for what you eat (when you eat it, write it down), or when you find yourself searching out food when you aren't physically hungry, take a short (or long) walk instead. Also, getting rid of all the junk food at home, and replacing it with healthy foods might help as well. You've got this! You can do it!

    It's time to try again!

That's great that you're ready to get back at it! Wishing you much success with your new beginning!

    No bread. No steak

Hmm, I can eat bread (most days), and I've had steak, as well as asparagus without trouble. Haha. Other than very thick bread and sometimes Pasta (all depends on the day!), there really isn't anything I can't eat.

A little weight gain and freaking out

Sounds like you're doing fantastic, and have had great success so far! Congrats!! If the scale is bringing you down, stay off it. I weigh myself every day, but I do it just to keep myself accountable...I had to learn early on that I can't let it dictate my mood, or discourage my progress. It's not unusual for my weight to go up (sometimes as much as 5lbs), and stay there awhile, especially around my time of the month. I just up my Water intake, and that weight always comes right back off. You're doing exactly what you need to be doing! Just keep it up, and the weight will continue to come off

    2 weeks post ok tomorrow....

Congrats! I'm assuming your surgeon/dietician gave you a specific diet to follow for the first few weeks?? If so, make sure you're following exactly what you were told...even if it feels like you're able to eat more. You're healing right now, so it's very important to follow the dr's orders! I know 2 weeks out I was still on a full liquid diet, and on to mushy's in week 3, but every dr is different.
  20. Congrats! Sounds like you're doing great! I just wanted to mention that it's not unusual for our body weight to fluctuate up a few pounds, thanks to Water weight. I, too, weigh myself daily, and sometimes my weight will fluctuate 2-3lbs within a day and stay up for a few days. Usually upping my water intake makes those lbs fall right off Just a thought! Take care!
  21. You lost 4lbs in 30 days...that's a pound a week! I think that's pretty great!! You're doing everything right, the weight WILL come off. If you're feeling discouraged by the scale, put it away, and go simply by how you FEEL! Focus on all the great non scale things that are happening...those are just as, if not more, important than the number on the scale!! Keep up the great work!

    Mushie ideas?

I loved ricotta, with tomato sauce, topped with some mozzarella. I also did the refried Beans with sour cream, shredded cheddar, and salsa. Mashed avocado with canned chicken was a favorite of mine as well!

No wonder I was so FAT!

I often think the same thing!! It's truly amazing what we learn on this journey. I also never used to consider myself a stress or emotional eater. HA! Now that I actually pay attention to what I'm eating, it's insane how many times I STILL wander into the kitchen in search of comfort when I'm stressed. I can't even imagine how many mindless calories I consumed in my pre-band days!
  24. MandaMom23

    Finally banded today!

Congrats!! The discomfort doesn't last forever, and you'll be feeling great in no time!! Wishing you the best of luck on your new journey!
