Lapband removal and RNY in May

I got a lapband in 2009. I had my lapband removed April 2017 due to issues with it. I was required to lose weight during my 6 months of meeting with my NUT. It was a struggle but I lost 25 lbs before I had surgery in Dec 2017. I really pushed to lose the weight, because they said it is always harder with a revision surgery. I just wanted to give myself the best possible outcome. I'm currently 3 months out and I am doing well. I'm so glad I've been blessed with another chance to lose the weight and then keep it off. I just take it one day at a time and try to enjoy the process. I have my emotional times, but I pray a lot and I have an awesome family who is supportive of me. Do not worry about the weight you have gained so far. Just focus on what you can do before it is time for surgery. If you focus on the positive, you will get positive results. If you beat yourself up, then you will not be as successful as you could be. Sent from my SM-T818T using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I had the lapband in 2009 and it was removed in 2017. I had RNY in Dec. I also had difficulty with feeling full and I had discussed this with other lapband revision patients and they have experienced this as well. I just made sure I measured everthing so I would heal properly. I still measure everything, because I do not get a full feeling. I used to cry when my family ate, because I wanted their food and I could not eat it. I spent a lot of time in my room when they ate to help me cope. When I started eating food, I started to feel better and I stopped feeling sorry for myself. I ended up being lactose intolerant, so I was not able to consume any diary. This could be the issue behind some of your GI issues. I felt so much better once all dairy was out of my diet. I used Nectar Fuzzy Navel and Genepro to help with my protein needs when I was on liquids. By the way, I also tasted food and then spit it out. We have food issues and it takes time after surgery (maybe a lifetime) to work through our food issues. We need to be kind and love ourselves even when we make a bad choice. I hope this helps you to feel better.[emoji4] Sent from my SM-T818T using BariatricPal mobile app

    December 2017 Gastric Bypass!

Sounds great! If you can tolerate it, try lentils, blacks, etc. They are great sources of protein, especially since your diet is geared heavily toward being plant-based. Keep up the great work!

    December 2017 Gastric Bypass!

Wow...what does your doctor nutritionist think? Have they given you any ideas about getting protein in other ways?

    December 2017 Gastric Bypass!

Lol...the struggle is real. I have to measure everything before I eat to make sure I do not overeat. The couple of times I know I ate too much, I only felt a slight fullness in my chest.

6 week check - all great

You're doing so good and I love your doctor's way of thinking. I actually made adjustments to my diet when I saw what you were eating right after surgery. I have been enjoying my vegetables ever since. I'm happy you were able to get cleared for scuba diving. It is such an awesome feeling to do what you love.

    Honest opinions on Syntrax Nectar?

My office went by the initial weight, hopefully your will too. I'm cheering for you. You've been awesome through this process.

    Honest opinions on Syntrax Nectar?

I have not found the grapefruit yet, but I will try that one when I do. I did not get the large sampler, because I was too afraid of not liking some of the flavors. I have spent a lot of money on food/drink I do not enjoy. By the way, good luck on your last appt. You have been so patient and encouraging to others as you wait for your surgery approval Fluffychix. Let us know how you make out.[emoji4]

    Honest opinions on Syntrax Nectar?

Lol...I do not even eat chicken like I used to. My doctor pushes protein too, but I have incorporated leafy vegetables, because I think they are important too. Too bad the Syntrax did not work for you. I have purchased a lot of food that did work for me either, so I understand. I refuse to eat anything that does not taste good or is no good for me. My portions are so small and I want to enjoy my food and get the most nutrition possible for each meal.
