Bos123 got a reaction from SkinnyLaRodgers15 in Stomach getting larger
I totally agree Jeff. It's nerve racking cause it shows that one could totally slip back if they chose to. I can eat way more now than I could back in the beginning. I imagine it makes sense really, all the healing is done, swellings gone. But it makes me nervous. And my surgeon is in Mexico so it's not like I can go get it checked out lol. Let me know what your surgeon says!

I lose anywhere from 1-4 lbs a month, still. It started slowing down for me very quickly, because I was not losing a ton each month anyway. The inches are chipping away as well. After awhile, I just stopped paying attention. I do what I do and when I lose (usually after my cycle) Hooray! When my pants start getting baggy around the butt and thigh, I'm like ALRIGHT, NEW PANTS!
At just over a year out, my "new normal' is MOSTLY Protein, veggies if I can get them. Rarely fruit, occasional wheat or grain. coffee almost every day. as much Water as I can get in and I try to move my booty. I don't count count carbs or cals or fats. And if I see the scale creeping up, I know I am eating too much 'not protein' and spend a couple of days really concentrating on lean meats.
I go through my obsessive periods as well, esp when I am trying to lean out again after getting too loose, but I can't live there. I cycle through, though.

Bos123 got a reaction from Ms. Drea in I am not good at receiving compliments!
I do not like the attention at all. I feel uncomfortable and am not sure what to say to people when they are giving a nice compliment. I don't want to feel like that so I'm wondering if anyone had some input on how to receive these kind of things differently?? Awkward:/

I never had a two week diet. I was on full liquids for two days which included Protein Shakes, Jello, pudding ( even slim fast shakes), then only clear the night before. I hope it works out for you. I bet if you have something showing the funding is guaranteed but not till wed I bet hell go ahead... Keep in touch! Let us know!

    I say hormones.
I actually have the opposite issue. I used to use Proactiv daily to keep my adult acne under control and I suffered frequent breakouts. Now I hardly use it at all and can count the number of small breakouts I've had in the last three years on one hand.
Proactiv can definitely be harsh if you're heavy handed with the repairing treatment. I only apply it where it's needed - my trouble zones - and don't have an issue. But everyone's skin is different, so you might have a different experience.
I now use the whole system so sparingly that I joined up, got three months worth of shipments and then cancelled. Those three kits will last me the next year!

Maybe hormones. Proactive is salicylic acid (aspirin) in a solution. It is hard on non-adolescent skin. I would consider seeing a dermatologist. If you are older than your 20s, your skin is getting more and more delicate and you don't want to damage it. For now I would consider a gentle cleanser like Aveeno or Phisoderm, maybe more than once a day. Make sure you use a moisturizer. A night cream (which is a bit richer) may actually help, because sometimes when the skin is oily it is overcompensating for needing more moisture. Make sure any moisturizer or cream is high quality and noncomedogenic (won't clog pores) and make sure your day moisturizer has SPF 15 or higher.

I have several if these gadgets.
Fitbit. LOVE. I use it every single day since I purchased. I can put it in my pocket, attach to undergarments, etc. ease of use is amazing. Syncing I have never had a problem with, through the app, plugging in to laptop, none at all. Accuracy is spot on. Battery life is well over 2 weeks.
Bodybugg. Liked it. Still have. Don't want to pay a monthly fee. Don't like wearing the band on my arm. Problems syncing with app, help(less) desk is a chore and not very knowledgeable associates. Too many questions with on my arm.
Nike fuelband. Still have. Used a couple of times. Back in box. I am a hairstylist so having to take it off and on because its not Water resistant is annoying. Accurate. (Steps)
Also use Polar FT60 HR Monitor when working out to get actual calories used during crossfit or weight training or cycling.
    Hope this helps.

I've been using the FitBit Flex since late May and really couldn't be happier. Well, I guess I could be -- they just released a newer version that has a watch on it -- that's a small complaint though...
I really like it and love how it jives with My Fitness Pal -- the two apps sync up and work really well, in my opinion.

Only my husband and mother know. I've seen too many negative reactions, be it jealousy or whatever, .. And I'm just not mentally where I should be To deal with the gossip etc. I was itching
To tell some people that are closer to me pre op but I knew in my heart I wouldn't get the support I was hoping for, so I kept it to myself... Four mos post op and I'm so happy I kept it to myself. My mantra was " you can't unring a bell". Good luck;)

Bos123 got a reaction from MissiD in What is your food capacity?
Well I could drink easily after too but I can't remember how much food I could eat then... I'm 9 mos out now... I still try to estimate and eat about a cup of food, Protein first... And I am full. But I can eat a lot more than that if I want to or if I eat slider foods. I ate 3/4 of a six inch from subway about a month ago, bread and all...not bad considering I used I eat a foot long and chips and maybe a cookie and a drink. Still if I would have minused the bread I know I would have been full... Hope this helps? Once we are healed our restriction is more than in the beginning so we still have to make the right food choices;)

I started at 260 the day of surgery and I weighed in at 205.8 this morning. I'm 5'3 and 29 yrs old. I so want to get in onderland and I'm finally motivated to make this push for goal. The first 6 months of surgery I didn't track cals or anything and when I stalled I thought my body would just naturally start losing weight again but nope. I definitely think calorie counting will be something that I may have to do for the rest of my life.

I kinda agree with you guys. My capacity as compared to the earlier days post surgery has definitely increased. I can easily get down 8-10 oz. at a time if I eat very slowly. If I eat fast then i can take down only 5-7 pz. I don't know if it's too much or otherwise. Jun 14 will mark my first plication anniversary..;D have lost 48 lbs. and I feel great.

I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughtful replies to my post. All the responses were sincerely appreciated. I decided to go ahead and schedule the surgery. I am aware that most of my problems with food are in my head. But I don't think that separates me too much from most other people who are considering WLS. The majority of us eat emotionally, binge or have other unhealthy relationships with food. Many of us let our weights hold us back from taking non-weight related steps in life, like going for promotions or pursuing romantic relationships or social engagements.
Regarding my weight not being as high as many surgery candidates, well, it's high enough that it's drastically affecting my ability to live my life the way I want to, much like any of us and high enough that lap band has been done, and to good effect. So I'm going to take this step. Exciting? Yes. Terrifying? Totally. Life changing? I'm going to do everything I can to ensure it is
    I can't believe it's in just a few weeks!

Bos123 reacted to KTBUGG in Anyone use UP by Jawbone?
I use the fit bit flex, it is like the jawbone up but it has several things I like better than jawbone.
The flex clasps around your wrist and is secure with a closure, the jawbone overlaps a little on your wrist, so it can get caught on things. * The fitbit is Bluetooth connected, whereas the jawbone has to be plugged into your phones headset jack to upload all info. I like going into the fitbit app on my iPhone and it syncing right away, makes it a lot easier for me. * the fitbit will work in the shower, baths, doing dishes and giving dogs baths, I don't have a pool so I don't know for sure about swimming, however that's not really what they count. * the fitbit comes with a large and small wristband, you choose which size fits you best, the jawbone, you have to find which size fits you and then buy that size wristband. If you need a large wristband now and lose weight around your hands and arms then need a smaller size, you will have to buy a new jawbone. * the fitbit is $99.99. Vs. $129.99...... I am just giving you a few things I really like better, I did a lot of research between the 2 devices before I bought. I really like using the combo fitbit flex and my fitness pal apps together, as well. Hope that helps.
