That sounded so wonderful. It made me realize that I have never ever had a true friend. Relationships but not true friendships. Someday I hope I can get me one of those!!!!!

I've raised two girls to womanhood and nursed their broken hearts through many hurt feelings caused by their so-called "friends." I will repeat to you what I told them (and showed them with my two best friends)..... A "friend" is someone who loves you, supports you, lifts you up, protects you, and is there for you in good times as well as bad times. A "friend" realizes that two people will not always see eye to eye over every issue, but will support you with your issue, and more importantly will be there to support you (closed lipped) if your decision falls through. There are acquaintances, friends, and true friends. True friends are a rarity, but when you have one or two, you know it!

She's probably just very excited about her weight loss and doesn't realize that she's being inconsiderate. Maybe you could address the issue tactfully and say something like, "I'm so happy that you've had such quick success, but I too, am happy with my decision and my success so far. Your support means so much to me." She'll probably get the picture and realize she's not been a good friend. Unfortunately, sometimes we start to feel powerful and judgemental of others and forget how we struggled before. I'd give it a try and if she doesn't change her tune, you might need to see less of her.

Yes, you are expecting too much. Listen up!! Your band will not help you at all till it's adjusted properly!! This is a process that can take up to 6 months to accomplish.
If you're hungry, eat. Just try to make sure you're eating healthy foods and not slider foods or processed foods. No need to feel like you're starving.
Until you get the fill/adjustment that gives you some restriction, this is just another diet.

CaGottaBand got a reaction from dylanmiles23 in Is anyone using Biotin for hair loss?
I take 5000 mg of Biotin every day. Started about 6 months before my surgery. I have noticed my hair looking healthier, but as far as re-growth or preventing the onset of the dreaded post surgery Hair loss, nada.

I buy the MaxxPro at a local shop, but it can be bought online at maxxmuscle.com.
I personally like the almond milk...not to drink straight, but for my smoothies it's good.
And yes, I work out. I jog a few miles 3 times a week and 3 day a week I do a circuit training DVD...the DVD kicks my @ss. LOL

I use MaxxPro Orange and mix it with almond milk. Per scoop: 30 grams of Protein, 140 calories and 1 gram of sugar. Tastes like an orange creamsicle.

That's a pretty standard rule and I would say that most Banders follow it.

I took five weeks off from work just because I could...gotta milk it when you can. But by day three I was out shopping and felt fine. I should mention that I was one of the lucky ones who didn't experience any gas pains.
    Best of luck to you.

CaGottaBand got a reaction from JOANNE M HOLL in Back online... lot of changes
I would say that that isn't a whole lot of food. But if it works for you, then who are we to judge. I do think that you need to drink more than one bottle of Water though.
In a typical day I eat the following:
Breakfast: Protein smoothie (almond milk, Protein powder, 1/2 of a banana, ice)
Lunch: sandwich (100 cal wheat bread, 2 oz of lunch meat, 1 slice cheese)
Dinner: 4 oz chicken, 1/2 cup steamed veggies
9 - 10 cups of Water throughout the day
So, why are they thinking erosion of your band?

CaGottaBand reacted to starfish n coffee in Pre-op today -Drama in the waiting room!
So I'm at my Pre-op this morning, sitting in the resulting room reading over the 1000 pieces of paper I need to initial. There's 2 women and myself .
One woman asked which surgery was I getting. (bold question) anyway I told her lap band. She asked why? I gave her my explanation of that I wanted none of my organs removed, cut, rearranged, etc. Then I added less recovery time. The other woman (we'll call her Drama) just starts in with me.
Drama: "Well when do you plan on going back to work?
Me:" okay..... Uh... surgey is on a Wednesday, going to work on Monday. I have a desk job."
Drama: " Naw Honey! You Gon need two weeks!"
Me: "To each his/her own. Thanks but I'll be fine. By the way, what surgery are YOU having? "
Drama: "Oh I got the band 2yrs ago. "
By this time the other lady bucks her eyes and say "well how much did you weigh!? "
    Drama: "345"
Lady : "How much do you weigh now? "
    Drama: "266"
    (drama back to me)
Drama: "You really need to rethink taking more time off. "
Me: "why? Is the pain that bad? "
    (wait for it)
Drama: "Naw!! Cuz you Gon be hungry! "
Me: long blank stare..... "Are you kidding me?....... "
Thank Goodness the nurse called my name because I was getting ready to drop the mic and exit the stage!

CaGottaBand reacted to maestrita in I wish I hadn't gotten the band
Thank you to those of you who responded out of concern. That means a lot to me. This has been very scary and physically and financially painful for me and my family. I never encountered any "research" (holding a Master of Science degree, I think the term tends to be used rather loosely) on the band that indicated that it could slip downward or that there was a risk to other organs. I was surprised to find the FDA's report on the incidence of complications. I thought that if there was a slip, it would only impact my stomach. I didn't fail at weight loss. I didn't have problems getting stuck or vomiting... I lost a significant amount of weight before I became symptomatic. I believe that the slip was caused by an aggressive fill. A nurse accidentally put in two ccs, and at that point I became symptomatic (I only found out that she'd overfilled me in the emergency room the following day when they extracted all of the liquid from the band and there were 7ccs instead of 6). The bariatric surgeon who did my aftercare suggested that the overfill caused the slip and that it might have resulted in the stitches separating, but I can't be sure.
Sure anything can happen. You can get hit by a car crossing the road.... but this did happen. This is my story, and I will continue to post right here where people can see what can happen. Perhaps its anecdotal, but it's my anecdote, and to try to cover it up or minimize it is not only hurtful, it serves to mislead others who come here hoping to learn about what can and does go wrong sometimes. People need this information before they make the decision to move forward.
