  1. I'm down 52 overall. I keep thinking I've stalled out, then I check back into my history a few weeks, and 10 or 20 pounds have dropped. It's just slow. I also crave sweets - perhaps there's a cause-effect thing going on with the slow decline?! SD was 1/4 and start weight was 240. I'm 5'8" and 56 yo. Bravo to you younger peeps taking care of this earlier in your lives than I did in mine. Keep being the losers you know you can be. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  2. I play a drinking game. Every time I read a post here about drinking soda, I have to gulp a shot of vodka. Try it, it's fun. And I'm just kidding. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  3. My doc in Mexico gave me a card. I'm not one to ask for deals. appetizers, sharing and doggy bags work fine. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  4. I'm a slow poke too. My best days for losing are the ones with protien shakes and water. No stupid carbs - like mashed potatoes, fruit juice and sweet smoothies. I keep gaining and losing the same 2 pounds. Ugh! One-derland is just two pounds away but I can't seem to break through. Hang in there. I share your frustration, even though we both know slow and steady wins the day. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  5. January 4. Down 36 total - 9 in pre-op and 27 post. Feels slow sometimes, but it beats gaining. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  6. Mashed potatoes with butter. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  7. It's my 2-month anniversary today. I'm not losing as fast as some, but that's ok. I'm down 31 pounds overall - and this number includes my pre-op loss. Here's what I've learned so far: too big a bite or eating too fast is going to make me hurt and then hurl. I must learn to stop wolfing. Mostly I am eating cream of wheat, shrimp from Costco, avocados and no sugar popsicles. Coffee doesn't taste good to me anymore, nor does wine. I really crave cold sweet fruit juice, but don't keep it in my house because it's loaded with carbs. I seem to be losing from the top down. Most of my weight loss is visible in my face - so here comes the wrinkles. ****. I'm paying for a gym membership but still haven't gone. I do get outdoors to walk a mile or two almost every day. I'm in Alaska weather, so if I can do it, you can do it! Ok, thanks for reading! Keep rocking those sleeves everyone. Best of luck to all. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  8. The last two questions are good ones. I don't really remember the specifics. Alma at Ready4achange was quick to answer my concerns. I would ask her directly. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  9. Hi John. I had two leak tests post surgery - the blue dye and a fluoroscope. Dr. Luna (part of the team) stopped by the hospital several times after surgery to check on me and to remove the drain tube. He came to the hotel to remove the staples on my last full day there. I asked for help with anesthesia-induced nausea before surgery and was given meds to combat that. I walked some while in MiDoctor Hospital, but not as much as my surgery-mate. The gas pain for me was like having a stiff neck. It really wasn't too bad. Mostly I slept while in hospital. The nursing staff would ask me to cover my eyes if they had to come in and turn on the lights - which I thought was sweet. The Marriott hotel has great beds. Some members on this forum have posted detailed accounts of their experiences - you could search for that. I was really nervous about the actual surgery - and really expected to freak out/back out at the last minute. alma helped calm my nerves. Going out of country didn't worry me at all - Medical Tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors of the travel industry.
  10. Sleeved January 4, 2013, I had a very positive experience with alma, r4ac, and Dr. Garcia's team. Do you have any specific questions? Sent from my iPhone using VST
  11. Did you see this? Holy cow. "shocking new weight loss device". Reverse feeding tube - it pumps about 1/3 of the food out the stomach 20 minutes after eating. Still requires surgery. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Sade, I hope you are feeling better. I really liked Dr. Luna and the rest of the staff. Be sure to let them know if you have problems. All the best to you. Sent from my iPhone using VST

I had no additional expenses at the hospital or the hotel. No complications and excellent care. If you have a hernia or other unforeseen issues, there could be a charge. Ready4achange was my coordinator - probably best to ask. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  14. Initially wifi password was same for a week. Then they started changing it daily. I went to front desk for the new password. The gal there acted like it was a favor to not charge me. Sort of "just this once" they will let me slide. Up to that point I was in love with the hotel. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  15. Anyone have a comment on the Marriott? I really enjoyed my stay there - but the popsicles were beyond strange (vinegar-flavor?) and the front desk became way less friendly toward end of my stay. They argued about wifi being included in room rate or an extra charge. Loved the bed and travertine tile. Sent from my iPhone using VST
