I get it all the time from my family: you need to eat, ur getting to small, u dont need to lose any more weight, ur legs are too small, I can see the bones in ur neck, ur head is not to big for ur body and here's the best one "if you lose any more weight your going to look like a crack head" lol. I normally just roll my eyes and I have to remember that there not use to me being smaller than them and it just might be envy.

I know that feeling, I'm 2mths out and every time I eat meat I can really feel the restriction. Sometimes I want to avoid meat, but I know I need to Proteins. Ive found that if I walk around between bite or eat standing up its better.

Congrats on making the decision to have WLS. I know its a big and scary decision, but its well worth it in the end. Like you I have always been overweight, even as a child. I made the choice to have my 1st WLS back in 2007 (lapband) and I was 309 lbs, I lost 100 lbs in the 1st yr and was able to keep it off. I gained 60 lbs 2 yrs ago during my pregenancy and lost it back in about a yr. I had my 2nd WLS back on 11/01/12 due to lapband issues, I had a revision to the sleeve and Im currently 178 lbs. I have no regret to having WLS I believe it saved my live and gave me my baby that I've always have dreamed of. Just think about your health and being there for your son, please keep us posted on your journey.

Hello Everyone! I am new to this forum and figured I should introduce myself. Been looking around here for about a week now and have found so many valuable resources and inspiring stories and people! I am a single father to an amazing 5 year old boy. I am 6'5" and 396 pounds. I have been overweight as long as I can remember. I do not have an exact weight goal (maybe 240) in mind but rather I just to get to a healthy weight that will enable me to feel confident in myself and be a more active father to my son.
WLS is something that I have known about for a few years but only in the last few months have I given it serious consideration. I have 100% come to the realization that I need the help of the VSG to assist me in reaching my WL goals. I have found out that my insurance covers WLS and am meeting with my chosen surgeon on Friday. Shooting for around the middle of March to be sleeved. I have never had any type of surgery in the past and the idea of surgery has always freaked me out, however I am managing those fears and genuinely excited to proceed.
I look forward to getting to know some of you, receiving guidance, and hopefully being able to pay it forward in the future.

Sex for me was good when I was 300lbs and well as it is now at 178lbs. The only difference is the skin and now Im not so out of beath (sometimes). I have nothing against a person waiting for marriage, but I would hate to get married and the sex turns out to be bad. But I guess you can teach me what u like, when that time comes.

I did have a EGD done that came out okay, but most people dont know how much damage and scare tissue the lap band causes on the stomach and Ive had mine for 5yrs.

NIKIMAC got a reaction from Harrier's Woman in Has Anyone With Pcos Gotten Pregnant After Lapband?
I got pregnant 2yrs after being banded, we had been trying for 10 yrs with no luck. Not being able to get pregnant caused a problem in our relationship and we broke up. Since I still wanted a baby I decided to try IFV with donor sperm, I got pregnant with the first round and I had my blessing: Mrs. Kennedy & she is the light of my life. So dont give up the fight, theres a light at the end of that tunnel.

Here's the fat of it, we LOVE food and we LOVE to eat. It takes time to get it in your mind that the band is in control now and maybe you should just sit back and enjoy the ride. I miss eating hamburgers without having to run to the restroom to throw it back up because I cant eat bread LOL. But when I look in the mirror and see whats looking back at me, I KNOW I did the right thing. Its a MIND thing and sometime you will have to come up with alternate ways to have the foods that you miss, be creative.

I've had 2 dilations this year, but it hasnt worked for me. I was told that I have esophageal dysmobility and I will be having my band removed and a revision to a gastric sleeve on Nov 1st. I wish you have better luck with dilation then I did.

    Welcome to the club :-)
I was banded back on 2007. The only problem I had from surgery was alot of gas in my shoulders and a sore stomach, you have to walk to get the gas out. I weighted in at 309 lbs, I lost 100 lbs the 1st year. I got pregnant in 2009 and gained 60 lbs back, but most of that was due to being on bed rest. I gave birth in 2010 and well its 2012 now & I'm down to 188. You just have to remember that its a tool and weight loss might be slow in some cases but it will happen. Best of luck to you.

NIKIMAC got a reaction from DesertRose80 in 3 Weeks Post Op
That is normal to have slow weight loss, but the weight loss will start again. I have my band put in back in 2007 and I lost over 100 lbs the first year and I have been able to keep it off even after given birth 2yrs ago. I started @ 309 and I'm currently 188. Have you been released to start going to the gym and work out. I noticed that I lost it quickly once I started going to the gym and working with a trainer or just by myself. Just dont give up and hang in there for the long haul :-)
