    Leaving..

I just want to say "Thank you" to all the Veterans who have taken their time to read and share their experiences and wisdom. It has been such a great help for me personally and hope you do not leave. But if you do, please remember you have made a difference for a lot of us God Bless!
  4. What a great idea Jim. Thank you for sharing. Such an inspiration! Congratulations! 2013 has been a bit of an emotional roller coaster. I started in Oct 12 going thru the 7 month preapproval process for my insurance company. Finally turned in my paperwork in April and 2 days later found out this was an exclusion to my policy - lap band was not covered. I was devastated to say the least. It affected my work, my life! I had a secondary insurance thru my husband and assumed they would not cover and did not consider until my neighbor mentioned it in August. Come to find out, they do cover lapband! Sept 19, 2013 - Had the surgery Dec 19th - weigh in at Dr - have lost 47 lbs Dec 21st - have lost 27 1/2 inches total -I walk 30 mins every morning with a co-worker. Walk 3 1/2 - 4 miles on Sat and Sun at the lake and more if I get off work early enough while daylight (quick pace) and any other chance I get. -Feel sooo much better. Osteoarthritis in knees has really improved - Completed a 5k walk in an hour 2014 Goals -To be able to get off my BP, Cholestorol, sleep Apnea machine (top of list) -Start running -Enter a 5 k run and finish -Fit in a shirt my daughter got me a few years back. Have it hanging on the back of our bedroom door -Reach goal weight by fall (62 lbs) Won't be an upset if I don't because I know I will get there Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

My fave's are It's A Wonderful Life, Polar Express, and the one where she was hired by the mayor of a small Montana town to bring in big businesses and ends up making a 12 month calendar of all the rescue/fire men. So good and funny. My husband loves the elf movie. It's like it's not Christmas until he sees it, lol.
  7. So on Dec 19th I went in for my lap band apt, which also happened to be my 3 month anniversary since the surgery. All I could think about after each fill (I've had 2) is coming back for the next one. So far I have 4.25 in my 14cc band. I've read on hear about the "green zone" and all I have been thinking about is reaching that. Not really paying attention to my body. Just wanting to get those fills thinking it was going to take a few more fills for me. Well the day before my appointment I started really thinking about how am I "really" doing. -I'm walking 30 mins a day at work -I'm walking 60-90 mins each day on the weekend (which does not include cleaning, shopping, etc) -I feel soooooo much better and have more confidence in myself -My outlook on life has done a 360 degree turn around -Get bored really easy now when I'm at home on the weekends. Just want to go -I'm not that interested in the food around me anymore. And my true test is now with the holidays! My food intake now is: -I eat my 4 oz of food each meal: egg w/cheese and ham or bacon, tuna or chicken for lunch, and my favorite of all, plain greek yogurt with 2-3 T of almond butter for supper and then again for snack at nite. -And trying to get my Water in. With all of that said, I realized I am soooo close to the zone, I can feel it! My surgeon (who is awesome btw) asked if I feel I could eat over 4oz at a time and I told him yes, but I don't allow myself except with the yogurt, I may go to 6 oz or so. He asked if I felt like I needed a fill. I could not answer right off, like before I could before. But I decided 1 more time. I told him I felt like I was almost there. With only .6cc put into my band, I think this is it!!! I've lost 47lbs in 3 months and am measuring myself this weekend. - Feeling So Blessed and Happy P.S Thank you all for the support and encouragement on here! Could not do this without you!

    Hello :)

That is awesome!! Congrats! Thanks for sharing. A real inspiration!
  12. Okay, I've always loved Jif Peanut Butter. After lapband surgery on 09/19/13, when I finally starting introducing soft and reg foods after the 2 week liquid and 1 week mushie, I would come home from work and eat my 4oz for supper and then find myself feeling hungry an hour or so afterwards. I know this is probably more habit then hunger at night, as I would eat a few times after supper. I tried some greek plain yogurt and added 2 T of PB along with 3 or 4 splenda's with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a tsp of vanilla and I was hooked! Now, instead of coming home and eating the meals I prepared for the week, I eat this yogurt/pb instead because I did not want to overdo it with both, and the yogurt has 15-20 grams of Protein and the pb has 7.. But then lately I've been getting more than 2 T PB and even go back later for more PB or another round before going to bed. Tonight I stopped by the store and got another jar along with sunflower seeds hoping it would help me feel more satisfied. Damn Comfort Food!! When I do eat this, I find some discomfort with the PB as I feel it is sticking, but I continue to eat it because it is soooo good! Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any suggestions on how to get away from this (nightly snacking) would be more than welcome. I need a swift kick in the butt!!! I've lost 32 lbs as of my last dr visit on 10/31/13 and am due form my 2nd fill Nov 21st. I'm afraid I may start putting weight back on.
  13. Adding cinnamon and vanilla with splenda is really good. Just need to be careful with the pb as it may stick. Good luck!

    Mortified

First off, a big congratulations to you for losing 60 lbs. That is awesome!!! Personally for me I have lost 45 lbs so far and am feeling soooooo much better. We are our own worst critics. Just think on how you feel 60 lbs lighter. Sounds like you did a whole heck of a lot in 1 day. Wow! As far as the Ms. "Twiggy" she was wrong! Hang in there.

    So Disappointed :(

Do u keep a food journal? My surgeon told me to keep one so in case there are any issues we can go over together. I keep my on fitness pal. When was your last fill? Are u exercising? Drinking your water. I would definitely talk to your Dr. That's what they are there for. Good luck and keep us posted. 35 lbs!! That's awesome! Hang in there.
  18. No weight gain. Enjoyed good Turkey and couple bites of pumpkin pie with rediwhip - yum! Actually lost a pound. Was off work from last Wednesday thru Sunday and was able to walk 3-4 miles each day except Saturday. Now to get thru December!

    Would Love Some Feedback

Thanks so much for sharing! I was out shopping yesterday in a dept store and got dizzy, broke into a sweat, then mouth got really dry and I was so thirsty, then headache. Really scared me. I went to my car and drank some Water and took some deep breaths and was okay. Maybe that's what that was...an anxiety attack! I've lost 45lbs since Sept 9th and am really starting to feel the diff, physically and mentally! I get bored so quick now, and its an awesome feeling not to be depressed and have what I would call "black days". Oh what a feeling!!!

    Silly Question

My neighbor, who also had lapband said she ordered baby silverware on line so it's not as noticeable. I personally just went to Wal-Mart and bought some baby spoons with the long handle and it is great!
