Just catching up going to see the Neurologists on the 22nd so they can try to figure out why I am not able to stand and walk and do my normal stuff I do at work went back to work for a week in August , went back to the Doctor amd they took me off again so I went back on Disability , I probably already had mentioned but my memory is So bad.
But that still doesn't stop me from Dancing lol I just don't do some of the moves I was doing to keep up with the younger crowds lol.
But I am trying to look for other work wear I can sit most of the time but I am also kind of afraid because I'm afraid if I'm sitting I will gain what I have worked to get off , I was doing SO good until all this pain came up on me , otherwise things are good with me and it sounds like things are getting on with everyone , sometimes I feel like I am failing then I'm like stop & think why and I do and I know why so I try to stay in my room as much as I can or if I have a few extra bucks then I go couponning lol and that can be from 2 hrs to almost 6 hrs yes it takes time but at least I don't have people asking me am I sure I don't want what they're having for dinner because my family eats a lot of fast food lately .
My Mother lost 10 lbs she stopped drinking soda not as many sweets and goes to bed at a certain time every night so she's trying , I don't know what got in to her but it's hopeful & my oldest Son came by the other day hadn't seen him in a while but I texted him because he turned 33 on the 10th it was good to see him and it looked like he had lost some weight also since I seen him last.

Wow a lot going on with everyone sorry to hear the sad news , but everyone try to stay positive & I forgot how to post pics so now I have to learn & remember how , but I am trying to catch up,like I said I will pop in every once in awhile .
I still was dancing & doing Karoke , and having fun.
However I haven't been on because I was really busy and started couponning because I was on Disability since March so had to cut down on a lot of stuff & spending a lot of time with family doing stuff for them.
I was at work one night & my leg started hurting then it felt like it was on fire inside could barely walk coworker said go home stubborn me finished my shift went to get up to use the restroom ya I know TMI, but I fell & had to crawl & pulled myself up then got off the pot & stepped & fell again so I crawled back to my room & called into work then the Doctor , luckily got in that day.
So like I said I was on Disability form March till the 1st of this month oh I forgot to mention that the Doctor did the cortisone shot in my knee in the bone also I have a little Fluid in my knee but their not concerned with it.
So I thought no problem I can dance, walk so I can go back to work. WELL after standing for 8 hrs even with my hour lunch break I was in excruciating pain & crying when I left work because it hurt so bad so back to the Doctor I went after a week working and back on Disability.
Now I have to see a neurologist because their thinking it has something to do with my system my nerves.
When I first went to my PCP for the pain to find out what was happening they told me I have athoritus all in my Left side & in my tendons, otherwise things are good except being off my feet & not moving like I was unfortunately I gained but I am having trouble getting it back off & I have tried what We usually say or suggest, so I'm not sure but I think my thyroid is acting up again so back on synthesis for a bit but I doubt I will have to stop ever taking it completely .
So now you all know what had happened & what I'd happening with me so far, I will check in every once in awhile as right now a lot going on & I don't have the time I did because it's usually something with my Boy's or doing things for my Mother since I'm home now with them , they don't seem to miss me like they did when I'm working Lol because I know they miss me then because they will spend time with me & ask me to cook and tell me they miss my cooking lol.
Like I said though now I have caught you all up.

We are still here JWMe. This forum is one constant in my life. Let us know how it is going. I care!
My band has a mind of its own and has decided it is too tight.... Tried liquids, yogurt, resetting. No go
Although I love being in my smallest size pants, it appears an unfill is due and that means more pounds. However it also means not being fearful food won't agree with me..
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY. To each of us. Kids ,dogs ,cats whatever depends on you...
It is a special day. Hope you enjoy it.
For me. All I want is an unfill weds.

Debbie3sons reacted to Alex Brecher in Do You Spend More Time Cooking?
Your diet is a lot more structured after WLS. Especially near the beginning, there are certain foods that you can eat, and a lot of foods that you can’t eat. It’s important to hit your calorie and Protein goals, while doing your best to get in tons of other nutrients, too.
Now that you need to be careful about every bite you take, do you make a lot more of your food yourself rather than depending on prepared foods from restaurants and convenience stores? Do you spend a lot more time in the kitchen than you used to? Have you become a better cook?
Or have you gone the opposite way – keeping foods simple and easy, possibly depending on easy choices like yogurt, cheese, and fruit?
How, if at all, have your cooking and food prep habits changed since WLS?

Pray for me banders. This Tuesday my lawyer thinks we may be able to come to a settlement. We've been meeting every week or two for negotiations. Mr. Wonderful is ramping up the crazy and his attorney is having difficulty with him, but 3 out of the 4 of us want to avoid a trial next month (jerk still doesn't believe the divorce will happen). I've spent the last two weeks scanning family (baby) photos to turn over originals to him. Emotional much? Tuesday is the big money issues. He lies like a rug, as my mom used to say. Trying to figure out the proper dollar figure to cut my losses and walk away. Anyway, haven't eaten over any of it. Not a bite. Thank God for my band. food has not been an issue. I've been in the high 180s all month which is my lowest since surgery. Working my OA program, I haven't indulged in comfort eating. I'm so grateful.

I watched Zalynn too she has come a long way. She had a 360 deg. surgery, looked rough, she had a hard recovery from what I could tell but she looks good. Her and Paula Jones have been inspirational. Both were so strong. I can't complain about my small challenges compared to theirs. I may have to have skin surgery down the road, I have a skin apron too but not as large as Zalynn's. Not sure at my age if it's worth it.

Debbie3sons reacted to 2muchfun in What is the deal on Carbonated Drinks?
The original purpose was that carbonation expands the stomach which they thought might cause slippage of the band and/or overinflation of the pouch. My doc still believes it does and recommends not to have them. I still have a few beers a week with no problems.
There are also many obese people who have surgery but over-indulged with carbonated drinks prior to surgery. And I mean like drinking 2 2 liter bottles a day. I think doctors recommend surgery patients avoid soft drinks simply because drinking them could lead to falling back into old habits. Also, gulping any liquids while eating causes food to slide through the band resulting in less satiety.

Debbie3sons reacted to B-52 in Not feeling enough restriction anymore
Are people saying they definitely had GOOD restriction, and not just for a few weeks, but genuine and sustainable, and then they start to notice they are eating more with less effort? Hunger returning? Etc??
I have been banded over 5 years...had 3 fills, all withing the first 4 months after surgery...never had a fill since.
I have very good, comfortable restriction, definitely in the Green Zone....no hunger/cravings, eating does not interest me, and when I do eat I am only able to eat so much.
Then I'll notice I am eating larger portions than usual. (I Can't believe I just ate all that!) Then I realize the restriction is just not what I am used to....
So, what I do, is I will lay off solid foods for a few days...go all liquids. Protein shakes, Soups, etc...Give everything a rest.
This. for me, usually brings about results...it will not give me something I never had, just let things return to what I call normal. Give it all a rest.
I have a theory why this is, but that's a different topic.
But this is me, I know myself and how my life is with the band...and my restriction, life in the Green is real, not temporary and has been consistant for over 5 years....
Can't speak for others, perhaps even after a few years it's time for another fill? Up till now it has been more you than your band doing the work and you are getting slack?
There are just too many variables, one must learn themselves.

A Healthy Easter Brunch: Top Do’s and Don’ts
You may look forward to Easter Sunday all year if you’ve been celebrating it all your life. There are the treats from the Easter bunny, maybe an Easter egg hunt, and an Easter brunch or dinner. Along with all that, unfortunately, can be 1,000 or more extra calories, and enough sugar to give you dumping syndrome.

This year, don’t let Easter sabotage your weight loss plans. Here are our top tips for coming out on the other side just as you should: lighter, energized, and proud of yourself.

Do prep some healthy foods. Have healthy alternatives on hand, and you’ll be less likely to sneak in the chocolate Easter eggs and cheesy potato casseroles. Ideas that you and everyone else can enjoy include hard-boiled egg whites, fruit salad with herbs, and fresh radishes, carrots, and sugar snap peas. Don’t steal from your children’s Easter basket. You don’t need their jelly Beans, marshmallow chicks, and chocolate bunnies, and they don’t want to share them with you. If you can’t help but nibble as they go through their baskets, opt for grown-up treats instead, like fresh strawberries and toasted snow peas. Do ham it up. Ham isn’t the best choice, since it’s high in sodium and it can be full of cancer-causing nitrates. Still, it’s far from a disaster, especially compared to some other holiday choices. It’s pretty low in calories and high in Protein, which is just what you want on your WLS diet. If you can, go for an all-natural, uncured ham, and consider getting it low-sodium. Don’t let your guard down. Lent may be over, but it’s not time to add back candy, alcohol, or whatever indulgence you gave up into your diet. You did just fine without it for over a month; you can keep up the smart choices now! Do celebrate the season. Add spring greens, strawberries, arugula, carrots, and other seasonally fresh produce to your Easter menu. Don’t get lazy. Whether you’re on your own, with your family, or together with friends, you can get active before or after brunch. Go on an Easter egg hunt, or walk to a supermarket or, better yet, a farmers’ market to pick up some healthy fresh food for the day.
Just like you always do, think about the WLS basics so your Easter turns out well. Plan your food ahead of time, go for protein and vegetables first, and watch portion sizes. And, enjoy the company!

Your WLS Spring Break Cheat Sheet
Spring break…a time to sit back, relax, eat some good food, throw back some drinks…and gain a few pounds. No way! You can recharge this spring without getting off track. Just make a few minor changes to your usual vacation routine, and you can feel proud of yourself this year.

Don’t Play “Invisible:” Keep Your Doctor in Mind
Spring break seems like a nice chance to hide yourself from the realities of life, but that’s when you can get in trouble. A good way to keep yourself on track is to plan to tell your doctor or nutritionist exactly what you ate and how you exercised on your vacation.

If you’re post-op and beyond the point where you are in close contact with your team or if your surgery is far enough in the future that they’re not monitoring you too much, just pretend. Imagine that you are going to tell them all of your dirty little secrets…and you may find that your secrets aren’t so “dirty.” You may eat clean and exercise regularly!

    Swap Out that Drink
Alcoholic beverages and spring break go hand in hand, but alcohol can really wreck your good intentions. It’s high in calories, with 100 to 200 or more calories in a mixed drink. It gives you a buzz pretty fast if you have the sleeve or the bypass. It forces you to break the golden WLS diet rule of separating food from beverages, since it’s unsafe to drink alcohol on an empty stomach. And, it lowers your inhibitions, so you’re more likely to overeat unhealthy foods while you’re drinking alcohol.

Bottom line: don’t do it! And if you do need a drink, keep it way smaller than you used to, and plan out your food carefully.

Get Moving! Take Advantage of the Time and Place
You’re on break. You have a little extra time. Don’t spend all of it laying on your beach chair. Take a few minutes in the morning, at mid-day, and in the evenings to get moving. You can walk around town or the beach to explore, or swim a few laps in the pool, or splash around in the ocean. Those few minutes add up to more energy, faster metabolism, and a clearer head so you can make good eating decisions, too.

    Explore the Local Cuisine
Be like the locals and eat fresh and healthy. Ask the servers what is in season and how they can prepare it simply for you. You don’t need to tell them about your WLS if you don’t want, but don’t be afraid to let them know you have a small appetite and that you can’t have too much sugar or fat.

You can still explore the local cuisine if you’re on spring break at home rather than away. Visit a farmers’ market to see what’s in season, and ask the vendors for ideas on how to use their fare. Gather the ingredients you need, and take your time making a meal you’ve never tried before.

Stash Your Own Meals and Snacks
You never want to take the chance of being caught off guard without the foods you need for your WLS diet. You may need to take protein powders and shakes and protein soups and gelatins if you’re on the liquid diet, or stash a few protein bars in your suitcase for travel days. It’s easy to make yourself instant protein oatmeal using hot Water in a hotel room to start each day off right.

Everything you could need for travel is available at The BariatricPal Store. You can even find handy shaker bottles to carry your Protein Shakes. There’s no reason not to have a healthy spring break!

    Spring: Fresh Start, New You
Spring just screams of new beginnings. You can see new green leaves on trees, and watch flowers budding and blooming. People are coming out again after settling in for winter, and you may even be thinking about your summer plans.

What better time than now to rededicate yourself? You can get back on track if you’ve fallen off in recent weeks. Take advantage of spring cleaning to clear out your kitchen and restock it with healthy staples and fresh foods. Get out and about to burn a few calories now that the great outdoors is a little more welcoming compared to the snow and ice storms of recent weeks. Compare your goals and habits now to what you’d hoped when you set New Year’s resolutions a few months ago, and make any changes you think would be helpful.

It is also a good time now to set a few new goals for the summer. Maybe you’re ready to commit to your first 5k run/walk, or you want to fit into a certain summer dress. Maybe you’re hoping to fit onto the amusement park rides when you go with your nieces and nephews, or you want to be included when the family goes for a hike or scuba diving. Maybe you want to lose a few pounds so you can be approved for surgery! Whatever it is, it’s not too early to start. Good luck!

I hope you are having a great spring and your goals are within reach. Thank you for all of your support for BariatricPal, and I can’t wait to see you on the boards!
