  1. Thanks @jallsop....and sure you can have the recipe...I have already sent it to your email; please let me know that you got it. When is his birthday? And for a little extra touch I added praline pecan halves to the top for garnish...Believe it or not I heard it was wonderful but out of the two I didn't get one bite, it was all gone before I had a chance which was probably for the best anyway.....Good luck, let me know how you made out....

  2. Over the holidays I know that some of the things that I was eating are not what I need; but oh my how hard it is to refrain.....I had Christmas dinner at my house this year; and yeas I did eat some of the things that I cooked but small servings and I did not over do it...But when it came down to the Desserts. I think I had way more then I needed...I made over the holidays two brown sugar caramel pound cakes, three lemon-vanilla pound cakes, 1 large alluminum pan of double crusted peach cobbler...my mom made three sweet potatoe pies....sorry about all of that but i needed to let you guys know all the things that I was around...but I also made a lowfat dessert which actually was very good; made of peaches, manderain oranges, pineapple chunks, miniture marshmellows, lowfat yogurt use whatever flavor that compliment the fruit you choose to use, and lowfat coolwhip.... Now that I have got that out of the way my troble came in when the dessert came in....I have not gained any weight but I have been going back and forward between 187 and 184....so today I made a promise to myself to jump back on board and do what I need to do to continue on to my goal....I plan on doing two weeks of a semi liquid diet that my dr. had me follow pre-op just to flush out my sysem so I can go back to the right way...Sorry for being so long winded, but I just really needed to get this out to a group of people who I knew would understand without judgement; or at least I hope...Did anyone else have this issue besides me???

    before And after

  3. Learning is hard' date=' after two years I am having to relearn what it is all about. My Soft Stop is a small burp. Learning about your soft stop is very important as it will keep you from sliming and other eating to much or eating to fast symptoms. I have also learned that some foods I just don't tolerate well anymore -Pasta being the biggest offender and a food that I truly have had a long term love affair with.

Here are a couple of suggestions that might help, even though you have probably already heard them): Eat slowly, learn to recognize your soft stop, and slowly introduce new foods into your diet to determine your tolerance of it.

    Good Luck on your journey![/quote']

Yes thank u...I do know when I get that hiccup to stop.... Lol...so I guess I keep doing what I'm doing if it don't feel good then don't eat it....I just don't want it to affect my weight loss...I even got these lil things from special k blond brownie bites 100 calorie...well they ate extremely sift soft they melt in my mouth they don't make me sick I can't finish a whole bag which is good but for some reason my mind is saying u shouldn't have that so I have retired them cause I don't know if it is OK to have....this is a lil frustrating....but hopefully it will get better...it helps that I have people to talk to who know what I'm going through....

  4. I get one or two hiccups while Im eating...I guess that is telling me to stop and when I do stop then follows the rest of the hiccups....and u guys are right it is nice to have a warning sign..My surgery was Aug.20th and I was able to start pureed after day seven. Well I couldn't wrap my head around drinking my food so I would do the other things on my list by like what was said earlier I had to learn the hard way because I started eating other foods that weren't as soft as what I should have been eating, and OMG I always felt after like something was sitting on my chest...so needless to say I have to learn how to eat what I am suppose to eat...I am having such a big problem with this by Im learning to do better...one thing is for sure I don't over eat because like all of u there is always left-overs on my plate, and I don't have a dog; so I just pass it all over to my husband...He'll eat it...lol...If anyone has any ideas....please I'm open for hep...I wanted to try chicken with like an Alfredo sauce...Is the pureed food like drinking ur food or is it just in my head...

When I get the hiccups that usually means I'm full. Happens every time.

Thanks so much....so it doesn't mean I'm overdoing it...its just a signal telling me to stop I'm done....well I guess if that is the case thats kind of cool to have a warning beforehand....

  6. Ok family, I am a week out and I am now able to have pureed foods...YAYYYY....last night I went on a bariatric website and checked out my binder to get a feel of exactly what I could start to eat. So this morning I had thin grits, lunch was a strawberry banana Protein Shake, and for dinner my 12 year old daughter cooked; she has been doing this to help me out and is very good at it; but dinner was turkey wings in a mushroom gravy, and mashed potatoes; I took pieces of the meat that fell off of the turkey wings in the gravy mashed it up and with each bite mixed it with the potatoes and gravy and mashed it some more. It went down real smooth no complications made sure the portion was so small and mussy that it looked like there was a baby in the house' But it was so yummy....The only thing that I can say that I notice is that after Breakfast and dinner I got the hiccups...nothing hurt and I pretty much got the same gas pain that I get when I sip on my fluid...so I assumming that this is normal if anyone else has this same type of experience please let me know...

  8. Thanks' date=' I am just going to speak with the nursing staff to see what I should do.....when I had to do my pre op I was never hungry cause I was able to do shakes and Soup, and Protein juice drinks...but now I am just doing clear liquids and although I add protein I am still starving....thought maybe it was acid been popping gas x strips not doing the trick so IMA just speak to the staff cause this can't go on....did I mention my family has not been a big help the day I came home from the hospital my husband got Chinese on the way home... The next day my mom came to visit and because she knows I am the main Cook in the house she brought some food so my family could have like chicken salad, to bags of powdered donuts, crispy creams, a whole homemade pineapple upside down cake from scratch, and yesterday they had pizza and bread sticks...let's just say TODAY I am starting to get aggravated.... We will have to have a talk later on....[/quote']

Oh an sorry people but I just needed a outlet really just had to vent...

Protien will make you feel fuller longer and I add powdered milk to mine for the protien. Goodluck finding what works for you :-) x[/quote']

  10. Your nut/surgeon should have given you rules for eating post op and you should follow them and not what others here say as we are all so different. I definitely can not eat puréed at 4 days out.

Thanks Angie, I was looking at the notebook from my nut that said within a week I could have puréed foods, but this is only day four so it said within a week wondering does that mean seven days or within this week...I wish I had someone I could speak with today but don't think that is possible on Sat unless I call the hospital and speak with the nursing staff that cared for me...

  11. Have you tried eating little and often my surgeon advises at least 6 meals a day from day 4 post surgery' date=' i, m on pureed food now for 3 weeks, this is anything of smooth consistancy including cereals like wheatabix and porridge, scrambled egg, I also sip on milky coffees like lattes. :-)[/quote']

Thanks, but I thought I was suppose to do the clear liquid for a week before the puréed food...didn't know that I could start it as early as day Four...maybe I could give it a try then, I just didn't want to move to fast...

  12. Day 5 post op' date=' no nausea or acid, walked to the drs today for my bloodtests and when I got home one of my incisions has started bleeding, its slowed down now, I think it was when I coughed, my incisions were glued, my surgeon days it will stop and its nothing to worry about, any1 else had any bleeding from thier incisions?[/quote']

I did....they said because it was the bigger incision that might happen....especially with the blood thinners...the other night I laid a hot compress on my stomach trying to help circulate that gas and when I looked again the blood had started to flow...but of course eventually it stopped....I can say each day gets better and better....can't wait to start seeing the differences....

  13. Do your breathing exercises and walk walk walk walk!! Take pain meds if they get too bad. They will go away before you know it. Even if you're just laying there lift your knees up and move your body however you comfortably can.

Thanks Reno, I will definitely try that...my pain meds really don't help with the gas pains though....what about gas ex....I can't really complain because this seems to be my only issue GAS....
