Can I just say that before surgery I was lucky to get a guy to give me the time of day and now guys (ones I already knew and new ones) are flocking to me? Granted, it's sort of awesome, but regardless it's bullshit and is upsetting on so many levels.
Though I'm a total hypocrite because I have never been attracted to overweight people, honestly. I've never dated an overweight person even at my heaviest, always thin thin thin guys.
You can't blame people entirely... Nature makes us more attracted to the healthiest mate for breeding... After all we are animals... And obese is not good for breeding.
    Sucks.

Last night was my first seminar and I'm even more excited than I was before (which I didn't think was possible). They're reviewing my insurance now to see what I need to do to qualify and I'm calling today to make my appointment to meet with the surgeon! =)

Boy dehydration is a killer isn't it. I experienced it but just started doing everything to rehydrate that I knew to do and advise from here and was able to pull it out. I am glad you are better Gen.

I am going to have to try Wendy's chili that some of you have tried. I have my postop tomorrow morning and I think i will end up getting fluids, my skin is not looking great and the pinch test is a fail, so my goal today is to just drink and not worry so much about my Protein since I hate getting IV's. I will keep you posted.
I hope Lisa and Southern feel better soon as well as everyone else having issues right now. Take care everyone and have a great Thursday

For so many years I don't think I saw myself as heavy as I was/am and now I just don't see myself as anything, I know that sounds nuts. I don't look in the mirror much, hate to have my pic taken. I have no idea what people see when they see me. This is all such a weird thing. I hope when I lose a LOT of weight that I will see a difference or that I will see SOMEBODY. Cause right now I just see a nobody in a big body with a very double chin, that I usually don't even want to put make up on. There are so many things that would change for me to lose the weight and to be healthy. I want to CARE about my appearance. I want to WANT to look in the mirror, I want to PROUDLY have pics taken with my beautiful grandchildren.

I haven't had the surgery yet, but the nurse practitioner at the surgeons office told me I'm going to be beautiful after surgery.
When I got home I told my boyfriend she said that, and he immediately said "She's an idiot, you're already beautiful."
Some people mean to compliment but don't realize exactly what they're saying.

So sorry to hear all you have been through! It is so important for people like you to post even though the news or recovery isn't always as expected. If people were only hearing from those whose recoveries were a piece of cake, it would be biased because unfortunately, there ARE two sides of recovery. Thank you for sharing your progress and we are here to offer our support. Blessings for all infections to be healed, the pain to become better and your healing to begin.

Oh my goodness, I love your curls. but I have to say straight really suits you too, The straight makes you look younger (not that you aren't young) and more sophisticated in some way. So I think if you are going for the professional look straight would be it. But I am sure that is a big time user to get it smooth like that. So maybe curls for weekends or when you don't have a lot of time and the smooth when you have more time. Your gorgeous either way.

I have suffered from depression for many many years and take prozac every day. But this after surgery is kinda different. Like out of the blue for no reason you just feel down and cranky and sad. I think it must have something to do with the hormones in our fat. Or something. Cause I will find myself just looking out the window feeling hopeless and I think what the heck is wrong with you, you should be so happy and you are feeling like this. It is a bummer. I want to be happy and healthy so bad.

We have lived life the way we lived it. Mistakes were made and there was a lot of hurt and pain. If there was a way to go back and make some changes, we would. Unfortunately that’s not feasible. What we can do is change the present and the future. We have to cherish each day that we have on the planet earth. Love our family intensely, love our friends unconditionally. Be a person of integrity and always be available to serve. We must always have an open mind, to listen to every point of view without judgment. Listen to our elders. They have lived their lives a little longer than us. They just might know more about life than we do. We must constantly remain humble, never putting ourselves above anyone else. Last but not least, we must increase our spirituality. In order to continue doing these things, we have to believe that there is something greater than us, that can help us, guide us, and lead us down a righteous path. The largest room available to us is the room for constant improvement. Peace………………

Vicki Loichinger reacted to ready2smile in What They Don't Tell You About RNY!
My husband had RNY in 2010 so I'm lucky to have experienced a lot of this 2nd hand. Biggest things for him were:
    1. He wasn't prepared for the pain of the drain being removed. Said it felt like being "hit in the junk". Didn't want to walk and was very gassy and nauseous for a long time.
    2. Although he had dry mouth and needed Water to wet it, sometimes it was too heavy (he almost ended up in the hospital with dehydration twice) so he kept two bottles of Water by the bed; one for swirling in his mouth and the other to spit the water back into.
    3. His tastes changed, he became lactose intolerant, and for a while he had to force himself to eat. Just the smell of food sometimes really bothered him.
    4. Later (about 8-10 months out) he found himself slipping into some of his bad habits like eating redvines, etc. however he still eats much less than he used to and maintains about a 60lb loss.
    5. As much as I try, I cannot seem to get him to take his actigal or Vitamins.
    Things he loved:
    1. Showers, he got cold easily
    2. His new recliner (best for sitting and sleeping)
    3. Popsicles
