  1. Hey PK, the new posted pic looks great : ) I have found there are 3 pillars to Health: food Plan Exercise Sleep It really sounds like you have the food side nailed down pretty well and as you said the Sleep pillar is a challenge due to Stress (which in turn complicates the Cortisol problem) and you are logging some time on exercise. I am confident that tweaking your exercise will get you over this current weight/scale issue and as a Bonus help the Sleep (Stress) problem. I am glad to make recommendations of manageable tweaks to your exercise you can start with right away if you are interested - just let me know. It's happening for you... new life ; ) Hope in your Future is Power in Your Present! Lee

    help!

Hi myshine, You can make your own Protein shakes - use soy milk or no milk - use Water ice and some 1/4-1/2 cup low fat yogurt etc... Just be mindful of the cal if you prepare yourself. Lee
  3. Hey PK Wow you are in a tough time right now - just keep moving forward to get through it. I understand Doc visit (weigh in) can be intimidation, stressful and really depressing or up lifting. Two things: 1- People that have success w/band Go To All Appts and frequently ! No matter what. 2- Exercise (calorie burn) can be challenging for anybody but is often very challenging for big people. First, our lean muscle mass which effects resting metabolic rate (calorie burn during rest) is low at best. Second, we don't understand what and how and how much and when to exercise. 3- Cortisol is a hormone proven to effect weight loss/gain - its raised (bad) when we are stressed and don't get enough sleep .... Stress is hard to control but Sleep can be the hidden thing missed What type, when and how much are you exercising ? That 1200 calories ... how exact are you on that number ? Weigh and measure stuff? Arms Workout

Hi Dee, 3 keys to remember: 1- High reps 15 and SLOW movement (3 count each way) 2 - Work "around" the muscle - so in the case of arms be sure to work biceps and triceps 3- Rest is needed for muscle to regenerate after workout - so don't do the same muscle group back to back days - Consistency always wins Congrats on your future arms ; ) Lee 280 lbs Lost - all diseases reversed ACE Certified Personal Trainer & Health Coach
  6. Thank you and I really like your positive attitude ! So please take this feedback knowing I give it with the caring heart of a person that was on an oxygen machine, given two years to live and a prisoner of my body. It's more than a unlikely to believe you will achieve a large weight loss and maintain it when you chose to believe that "Chocolate" or pizza is your friend or shield from insanity when in fact it is your enslaver. That being said / I hope that you are successful and maybe you don't need to drop BIG pounds. I have met people that can still eat that stuff and lose 100 (or slightly more) or less but NOBODY that has lost over 200 and KEPT it off. Hope in Your Future is Power in your Present, Lee
  7. I AGREE ! Fast food kills / sugar fat salt is now KNOWN as a lethal addictive formula specifically designed to spark dopamine and RING the $$ register. I will go farther to say I have never met or spoken to ANYONE that has lost over 200 lbs (and kept off) and still eats "fast food". I also have yet to meet a single person that has lost over 200 lbs and believes they "deserve" a "little" cake or candy etc... A New life requires New Life! Lee 280 lbs Lost all diseases reversed

    Home vs Gym Workout

Wow congrats in the excellent weight loss and deduction to exercise. You can certainly get a great workout at home. Regarding Insanity it is an awesome workout - basically it's like P90x only it's longer anaerobic work with shorter aerobic intermixed, as opposed to the reverse as with P90x - Insanity has even more Plyometrics (jumping) and therefore it isn't really a good place to "start" exercise or if a person has or is susceptible to knee and other lower extremity joint or back issues so keep that in mind. Mix strength and cardio - keeping it always different and not overworking the same muscle group will bring the best results. A great tool that works strength and aerobic while really improving stability and balance is the Bosu. Cheap at about $100, portable and stores easily. Lee

    Shopping for an elliptical...

Wow that's awesome thanks for telling me ! Huge success / life is good huh ; ) aside from getting the band - to what do you attribute your success? If you don't mind me asking ? I found few IF ANY WLS people that just got the surgery (especially the band ) and then everything just magically happened ... So do tell ; ) Lee

    I lied. It sucks

I agree with what many people have said - it's really up to you and it's a personal matter and question. Typically I would only mention the person asked was seriously morbidly obese and I felt like they were seeking a solution. Lee

    Shopping for an elliptical...

The best brands are Precor, Cybex and Life Fitness - be sure it syncs with the brand of HR monitor you are using. My unsolicited suggestion is to NOT buy an elliptical as you will get a better return on your $ using it toward group fitness classes or membership to a gym. Your body will quickly adjust to the elliptical and you won't get the longterm results you seek - the exception to this is of course if you are using the elliptical as only a part of overall CrossTrain approach - but that seems like heavy $$$ for that : ) Good luck on your path - congrats on attacking life with Exercise ! Insanity

Insanity while is an awesome workout - basically it's like P90x only it's longer anaerobic work with shorter aerobic intermixed, as opposed to the reverse as with P90x - Insanity has even more Plyometrics (jumping) and therefore it isn't really a good place to "start" exercise or if a person has or is susceptible to knee and other lower extremity joint or back issues. Without knowing more about where you are physically - I can't suggest the best workout for you but I can tell you two things: 1- A workout that's just right for where you are today does exist ! 2- That workout will have both cardio and strength aspects and should be done 6 days a week. Good luck and congrats on embracing the best thing you can do for life and health - EXERCISE! Lee
