Well congrats on your new birthday. I would say the one thing I think is a must do is your official before picture. My husband and I went to the local zoo and took a picture. I went back there for my one year anniversary and took a picture in the exact same place. We will be going back at the beginning of June for my 2 year anniversary. It is a great way to Celebrate and really see your changes.
We also went to celebrate our wedding anniversary at the same place. They have taken our picture each year. You can really see the transformation.
Finally write down your goals for post op. Try not to focus on the number on the scale. Focus on non scale goals. When you reach a goal mark it off and think of a new one. You will be amazed at what things you can accomplish and come up with!
Good luck and remember we are all here for you!!

I had to make major changes in my life -- marriage and body. When my fearful self said I'd never do it, my courageous self said, "Just watch me!"

I really enjoy reading this thread, fun and interesting.
Mine, I just love Tinkerbell when I was little, I drew her everywhere I could and I grew up loving all fairy tales. Hoping that my sleeve will have a happy ending like a fairy tale.

Wanted something With an Italian flare .
This was sooo easy and surprisingly good.
ricotta blended with black olive hummus, oregano and rosemary. Coat pan with olive oil, add ricotta/hummus blend, drizzle olive oil and grated Romano cheese, bake for 30 minutes at 350.
May try roasted pepper purée next time.

Pets are family to some people and I understand. I have quite a few friends who never had children and they love their pets as their children. God Bless.

Pray...Pray...Pray. Pray for comfort, acceptance and for the Lord to take away your pain. He will. Call upon him every morning as soon as you wake. Lift your spirit in prayer and up lifting songs. Your circumstances are incomprehensible to us that have never lost a child, but many supporters here cheering for you.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Hugs to all of you in this group. I lost my beloved daddy in 1995. I had just seen him the night before and he was fine. Got a call at 5:30 the next morning saying he had a massive heart attack and died. I still think my step mother had something to do with it. That was so difficult, as I could tell him anything. Then in 1998, my older brother died in a plane crash. Another horrible day. He kids, ages 10 and 12 at the time saw him crash.
In 2009 my son, 32 at the time had a motorcycle accident resulting in a traumatic brain injury. He was in a coma for a month. The Doctor kept telling me he wouldn't live. When he came out of the coma I was told he would never walk or talk. But after a year of therapy in hospitals he does just fine. He is different now. Has the mentality of a 16 yo. I miss the man he was. Don't get meh wrong, I am very grateful he survived but it's not the son I had. I do feel like I "lost" him. Please don't judge me on that.

I really need help. I'm almost two years out. I'm not eating or exercising like I should and alcohol has also added weight. I "know" what I need to do but I need help doing it. Started exercising again on Monday.
PS... Lots of change in my life and just now getting on track -- divorce, going from being a stay at home mom to a FT employee, etc.

zoepoodle reacted to outwithbenjiboi in What's the story behind your profile name?
"outwithbenjiboi" is a handle I've used since 2005, when I came out of the closet to my family, friends and colleagues as a genderqueer, masculine-identified butch. "Ben" is the "boy/boi" I should have been, and the name of my inner child that I'm re-parenting into the strong butch that I am today.
Benji -- the nickname for young Ben -- has been busting "out" in myriad ways my entire life. This surgery is just one more way that's happening. And my handle is the way I continually give credit to Ben for his courage and for all of the decisions that have made me whole.
Everyone calls me "JB:" initials that stand for my given name + my chosen name -- "J"en/"B"en.
Hope this doesn't blow too many minds.....

Today is (hopefully) a banner day. 3.5 months after surgery, I spent the night culling my closet and have three full clothes hampers worth of casual and work clothing to donate to Good Will.
Went from 3x and 4x shirts down to XL (so far) and 48/50 pants down to a 42.
That, I think, quantifies this as a personal NSV, and makes the whole experience worth it.
How did you feel when you got to that point?

I don't have tattoos yet, but I've designed two that I will get eventually. One is simply the letters LLAP with my surgery date. LLAP is "Live Long and Prosper" which is a Star Trek reference. I'm a big trekkie. That one will be on the inside of my right wrist. The other is a fishing tattoo, as I have a passion for fishing. That one will be on my inside forearm, and about 2 1/2".

    OK, just an FYI...
I thought it would be a good idea to use the Isopure ready to drink Protein in my green smoothie. I had kale, strawberries and the Isopure. The Isopure will whip up like egg whites, making the smoothie fluffy, but not sip able. You have to use a spoon. I'm thinking this may work well as a high protein dessert if made with sugar free pudding.
