I know I'm supposed to have a Protein powder with at least 20g of protein per scoop and below 5g of sugar. What about carbs and calories? I just have the whey protein from the grocery store. It has 26g carbs, 2g sugar, 8g carbs, and 140 calories. The calories and carbs seems high. I'm going to email the dietician but thought I'd get your thoughts too.

I don't think you need to tell people you got the sleeve. I told two good friends and then my mom dad and sisters. Everyine agreed that it is a personal choice and that I shouldnt feel like I owe it to everyone i know to explain myself. You can simply say you're doing a medically supervised diet or just say you are making healthier choices! I've accepted that no matter how great of a speech I come up with on why or why not I chose to have the sleeve done, there will always be people with a judgmental opinion. I do think it's good to find a couple friends to confide in though so you don't feel alone in the process . Good luck!

Agreed! My surgeon does sleeves as young as 16.

I just got my authorization for surgery today from my insurance! I am having VSG on August 22nd - it's happening fast! Can't believe I will be having it in 2 weeks. I have some prepping to do!!

I have BCBS of New Jersey - My information was faxed July 27th and I got approval today (August 6th) so 6 business days. When I called my insurance company and spoke to the manager they said that once they begin processing it takes about 5 business days. I'm sure it varies state to state. Good luck to you!
