  1. No problem. The ready made juice flavored drinks they sell aren't bad either. Those work to break up the protein flavors. The Vitamin Shoppe near me also gives out samples if you aren't sure and they happen to have some. In McKinney there is a good shop too, it's a local one. Health Collection I think. I'll find out the name for sure and let you know.
  2. Unjury isn't at those places. But they do have other unflavored protein in larger containers. I use Vitamin Shoppe and get the IsoPure Unflavored protein. I also like the Vitamin Shoppe Brand of chocolate protein they have. This is the only place I can find protein wafer bars too which I use like a candy bar treat once in a blue moon.

    4'11" - Checking In.....

Hi Diane. I'm Desiree and I am in North Texas too. I'm on the line for Plano and The Colony, but grew up in Blue Ridge (you may know where that is). I'll keep my fingers crossed that your approval comes through. I'm 20 months out and it was the best thing I ever did. I know we will all be here to support you and wish you the best on your journey.

    Pre-Op Support

I went to mine for about 6 months. They had meetings every 2 weeks and they were good, but the group was very large and one week was spent on a speaker. I was too shy to really meet anyone and eventually school and work took over so much I couldn't attend. I miss the meetings, but I wish I had more people I bonded with. For now you can get support from all of us

    Dfw Support Group

I'm glad to find a group of people from the area that get together. I was attending the meetings at Plano Presby they had twice a month, but it wasn't what I thought of when I thought support group. I learned a lot from the speakers, but I want to ask questions and find out how others with the sleeve are doing. I'd love to come to some of the get together meetings. I live in the Colony on the Plano border and can travel anywhere. My email is desi1023@gmail.com, please add me to your list --Desiree
  6. This gives me some great hope. I'm about to start clomid and work my way up to IVF. We haven't tried any type of fertility treatment before and considering we haven't done anything in the 8 years we've been married to prevent a pregnancy I'm a little worried that it won't work. Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope everything goes greatly for you.

    Wls To Cure Infertility?

That sounds similar to PCOS symptoms. Most women go un-diagnosed and it can be a big problem. I didn't have surgery for that reason, I had it because it was lose weight or replace my knee. But it did help with that. I'm 20 months out and starting fertility treatments as soon as hubby gets tested. My dr tried taking me off BC and giving it the good ol fashioned try, but it didn't work. So now I'm onto clomid. In my case it didn't cure the problem, but I have more hope and feel tons better.

    Will This Work?

PCOS raggedyann is Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome. It makes the battle of the bulge near impossible to win for some. It is named from the hundreds of mini cysts that develop on your ovaries, but messes with your hormone balances and can mess with your thyroid in some cases. As for the BC, I was on a progesterone only med (not BC) prior to surgery to help regulate me and protect me. One thing that PCOS can cause is endometrial (sp?) cancer. After my surgery because I couldn't get preggers no matter what for 18 months, my dr put me on BC. I didn't gain any weight from that at all but it was progesterone based. I lost 96 pounds so far and I've been stable for the last 6 months but I'm 20 months out and apparently I'll start dropping again. My gyno was pleased that I chose to have the surgery and says that I shouldn't have any problems when I am pregnant and is looking into a good chew-able prenatal for me.

    The Struggles With Pcos

I'm at 20 months out and starting fertility treatments. My Dr said that it won't exactly go away, but it will get better. It did get a lot better, but the last few months I've missed my cycle and he said it's normal and that everything is fine. As far as I know there isn't a cure for PCOS, but the problems can become better. I don't know how much that helps.

    5'-2" Here

I started at 342. I don't really have an end weight, I just want to be healthy and happy. But I'm past 18 months and my dr says I'm a go to start trying for kiddos.

    5'-2" Here

That is so awesome. I'm stopped at 96 pounds. And I'm still going. I know it won't all melt away instantly. I didn't put it all on overnight and it won't all go away overnight.

    Pre-Op Support

Did you find some support groups? I know it is a little late to give you one for pre-op.

    5'-2" Here

I didn't realize when you posted that and was going to write out this long thing. It's been a couple months, how are things going?
  21. I love the info about the group and the line about pulling up the step stools. I personally have 3 in random areas of my house. I'm somewhere between 5'1" and 5'3" (depends on who you ask) I actually shrunk an inch when I lost my weight, I also lost 2 shoe sizes. I'm glad to have joined this group and look forward to sharing with all of you

    Hiccups!

They are the worst hiccups ever! I remember how bad it hurt right after I had surgery. I still get them today and it's been quite a while since I was sleeved. My husband still laughs and makes fun of me and I still wish they'd go away lol. O and all of the tricks for stopping them when the really get going, yeah those don't work.

    Ready To Give Up...

Little jealous. I was on liquids for 6 weeks, then soft for another 4. I know everyone is saying that the feeling is normal, but I never felt that way. I only got six about 3 months out when I tried bread for the first time. *knock on wood* I haven't been sick again since that one time. I did have problems with how active I was compared to my calories and would almost pass out. I still forget to eat sometimes and start getting the shakes which means get protein and get it now for me. I would still call your doctor and makes sure nothing major is wrong. Good luck.
