  1. No way, dude---keep using this thread and start a NOVEMBER Mexico SLEEVERS thread, too--Im sure theyre are a few. Actually, there are a few I know of that have posted here--One is AngelEyesinNJ and realtor05 with DR Lopez Nov 10th And, you might ask your surgeon whether they are doing the single incision..I know there are a couple mexico surgeons who've been doing it for months---yours could be one of them!
  2. Good luck tomorrow, theNEWME!, yanik, and dhowell64! We're all thinking of you! I hope everyones travels are safe and I hope everyones homes, families and loved ones are safe and out of harms way. btw, very shortly after surgery, I felt really nauseated and had to shuffle to the sink and dry heaved a few times...I was really worried that I was gonna bust my guts open, and it kinda freaked me out because I puked up some brownish-reddish slimy stuff (sorry guys--just trying to as informative as possible) kinda like a lougie consistency? Im sure it was just whatever crap was in my stomach after surgery. After that I was fine--got nauseated one more time after the fluoroscopy test and heaved a little bile--but after that I gotta say I was pretty ok and no more puking or nausea. I HATE being nauseated and I really dont like to puke (ok--no one likes to puke..Im not special) Im just a total wuss when it comes to getting sick. I probably made those noises and cried out out for my mom!!!
  3. Yep, Im on MFP, and I know there are tons of others on there as well...I think you're right--there is a thread. I prob wont start until I can actually track something besides broth and gatorade, but I really love the idea...I cant believe I paid weightwatchers to basically have access to the same type of thing....My username is zenoosh.
  4. Yeah, this was interesting: So they explained that up Until a few days ago, they were using the dissolvable sutures on the incisions, or like a glue kind of stuff--on all except the draIn opening, which stays open and kinda drains for a couple days, ya know..but on my other two incisions, they used 4 little metal staples on each, and removed them, then sprayed them with medinciney smelling disinfectant, then covered them with a very light suture tape that is supposed to stay on for at least 5 days, then I can peel the tape off gently and the incisions should be totally healed at that point. I was dreading the staple removal--Im such a wussy--but it was NOTHING! Super easy. I was really suprised at having only 3 incisions---they said if I had been sleeved in a couple weeks, they'd have done the spider method--Only one incision. I guess their technique keeps getting better and better! Im okay with what I got--
  5. The salty crap was really gross...i had to take 2 big sips that were difficult to keep down. I did wretch a little afterwards. The blue dye was not that bad...gatorade with bitterness, but at least I could drink it at my own pace. So I've gotten mt drain out :-) and IV out :-) and still waiting futvthem to take the staples out...notvreally looking forward to that, but oh well...i think the worst is definitely over. Btw, im so glad they worked it out for you, hazelsmrf! I know that's gotta be very frustrating.. Keep in touch! <3<3<3
  6. Ok, its a done deal...im sleeved. Im not gonna sugarcoat it--there were some times of discomfort that are NOT fun at all, but I feel soooo much better than I did yesterday. Both leak tests were good--no leaks here. I am feeling some left shoulder twinges and drinking is a very slow and steady process! Just me here at the hospital...chilling and catching up on some Jersey Shore (either that or a Latin channel) ... Im really looking forward to getting back to the Marriott ...nice big comfy bed, big TV....oh yeah!!

    Oct Sleevers

Yes, I have...i tried the vanilla flavor. Not bad--very sweet. I usually make my own shakes/smoothies but its necessary to find at least one variety of RTD shakes for a quick meal. I like mine REALLY cold... I think they're not the best, nutrition-wise, but hey, its nice to have something on the go or at work! Others have mentioned the Sams Club and Costco RTD shakes. Taste preference is such a personal thing...
  8. Thank you, dhowell64! Actually, its hazelsmrf that's the Canadian on the list--Im from CALI... (although...i might be looking for a Canadian husband if the election goes badly ) Thank you for the well wishes...
  9. I dont seem to do too well with broth only, and OMG, you work 12 hrs in ER, you poor baby...thats rough!! Your time is almost upon us....you are TOTALLY pulling up the rear! I'll be sitting in a long a** customs line to get back into the states right about the time you're coming out of surgery....Good luck!
  10. I think you're totally set... I want to wish you good luck on the 28th! I dont know if I'll be "together" enough to post tomorrow, so here's some good wishes in advance!! We'll all be thinking of you on Sunday...

  15. Hello from TJ Marriott!! I arrived a couple hours ago. Samuel picked me up at the airport, and it was a quick drive to the Marriott. BTW, Samuel is VERY nice, totally down to earth, and if anyone is concerned, he speaks PERFECT english...(Hes from LA/ grew up between LA and TJ). We met up with my coordinator, Rosie, who is so sweet and she speaks english, as well. She and the bellboy, Alberto (who also speaks perfect english) walked me to my room,, which just happens to be the closest room to the elevator...I wish I could get this room when I come back here for recovery! The rooms are soo nice. Big, warmly decorated, everything is right here. I got WiFi, and Im on my laptop right now. Its early still, so Im thinking of taking a little' walk to WALMART (I think theres a little mall there too) to pick up some Water and get a bit of exercise..I also need some Retin-A....Who knows, maybe Ill just hang in this great room!! Ive got a date with a bowl of broth.... I get picked up by the shuttle tomorrow morning, 7:45... So far, everything has been fantastic. Everyone Ive been in contact with has been great. Have a good night, everyone. I hope everyone recently sleeved are doing well. Keep me posted and Ill do the same! ps, the only thing Ive had trouble with is using my smartphone for calls and texts. I turned off my data, and Im unable to text or call from my phone. Ill ask the front desk and see if they can help me with that, but the WIFI works great...I shouldve gotten skype or something to call my mom.
  16. Btw, I am super hungry and a little headachy today...my emotions are a little raw. I know I'm nervous, and feel anxious about the whole deal. I want to thank everyone for posting their experiences and helping out our fellow sleevers. Im confident in my decision to get sleeved. I know its the best thing for my health and wellbeing... Still nervous though :-)
  17. My pleasure...It helps me so much to read people's experiences. Sometimes I just kinda lurk and see what's up...especially now--there are soooo many people on this site, its getting a little crazy, but I still hang .
  18. Im working ALL DAY today, then I have to put the finishing touches on my packing job...i leave early tomorrow morning, and if my habits persist, ill stay up way later than I should, then wake up tired . Oh well...at least I get to MX early and I can relax at the Marriott!! Good luck tomorrow, Jessieboo and Carolinagurl... And all the remaining Sleevers: pullin up the rear for the MEXICO OCTOSLEEVERS!!

  21. Oh no! You poor babies! That sucks, dude...get yourself a firm flat pillow or stuffed animal. I got a "cough buddy" bear that you hold on your belly to cough, sneeze, turn over, crap, etc...I heard they help A LOT! Take some zinc ( NOW!! Like right NOW!) and lots of Water... You'll do great....good luck, my Octosleevers...im thinking of all my Mexico peeps all the time! I've gut the day off, getting my bag packed, laundry done, house cleaned, etc...i leave on Fri morning...nervous as hell, but numbers don't lie, and our guys are GOOD! Im feeling prettygoid about this Mexico thing. Im already saving up for some dental work and a non-mommy makeover (do furry kids count? Didn't think so ) <3<3<3 to all. Keep reading & posting! It makes us ALL feel better :-) .

  24. Hey, that's cool--you'll get a little more time to prepare! Glad you're still on the sleevers list;-)

    My Mom's Journey So Far

Im so happy she's on the mend and feeling better. Infection at the incision site is the most common complication of the sleeve...still rare, but it sucks to be the one! I am sxd in one week, and my mom is looking into it for herself, too. If you don't mind me asking, how old is your mom? Mine is 68, and pushing 250 lbs. Im worried if she doesn't do this, I might lose her. Again, I am so glad your mom is feeling better and that you've been able to recover nicely, and care for her at the same time :-)
