    Second Guessing!?

Totally normal to have doubts. Like others have said. My daughter was a few months shy of turning 3 when I had surgery in december. I was a basket case. One day I was for it thr next day I wanted to back out. I was so afraid of complications and leaving my baby girl motherless would keep me up at night. But in my gut I knew I was making the right decision. My surgery was on a Monday so Sunday morning before I had to start my bowel prep. Hubby brought our daughter to my sisters. I was balling my eyes out thinking I was never going to see her again. Even the morning of I cried a little on the way to the hospital. Looking back did I overact a bit? Maybe. But that's my baby and I was scared. Luckily all turned out great and I made it through. But it's totally normal what you are feeling. For me this was my first surgery which added a lot of anxiety.

  12. Can't hurt to get checked out. A lot of this cause palpitations however if you've never experienced them preop they could mean something serious. Sometimes you can have an electrolyte imbalance and I've heard palps can be an indicator. Not saying that's what's wrong but it could be. Good luck and keep us posted.

    New to the site..

Hi crystal. Like others I too considered the band. However rumor on the street is they might be stopping using this procedure as there are many complications. Lots of people a year or two out end up revising to rny or sleeve. For me I didn't like the idea of a foreign object tied around my tummy. I didn't like that you would have to go in for fills. You had a permanent port. And the possibility of slips and having to redo the surgery to fix it or remove it. Have a high chance of the band rubbing away stomach tissue on the outside where the band sits. None of it sounded appealing to me. As for rny I didn't like the idea of rerouting my intestines and purposely malnurishing myself. I know in a sense we r doing that with the sleeve but it didn't seem as drastic. With that said it's still a major and drastic surgery. Each has their own list of complications. Best I can say is read a lot on her. There are a lot of great posts. And there is a lot of great info on the Internet!

    Come on, man!

I'm 6 months out and like tess can eat. Today for breakfast I had a hard boiled egg (egg white only) and a 5.3oz Greek yogurt. If I eat slider foods can definitely get more down. If I stick to proteins about 5-7oz.
  17. mine smells too. i noticed that as i lose weight my tummy is looking frumped over. like the top is now falling down and it covers up my belly button. what i typically do is after a bath/shower i wipe it dry with a towel and sometime a little bit of rubbing alcohol on a q-tip. or if i am going to be home i sometimes just stick a cotton ball in there (i have a deep button). it soaks up the moisture. i just leave it in for alittle bit. usually helps. while it was healing i would put a cotton ball in there for a while. just made it feel better. that's where my only incision is. not sure if these will help but good luck!

    sleevers in Chicago southland

i too was irritated that i saw the pa's postop. however you can request to see the dr too and not the pa's. but i have learned if you go to the hoffman estates office and they are running behind even though you are scheduled to see the dr they will send in the pa to keep things "moving"...i saw the asian pa twice (i forget her name) and then another one with curly brown hair once when i was supposed to see rantis. but rantis did make an appearance at the end of the appointment to see me. as far as your incision, did you have single site in the belly button? i didn't have problems during the healing phase but now that my stomach is frumping over from weight loss it gets infected quite frequently. and maybe irritated is a better word than infected. i have learned its from the moisture and the inside of my button not drying out. i stick a cotton ball in there for about an hour after a bath/shower to dry out the Water that may be left behind. it helps. i have also used a q-tip with a little alcohol on it to help dry out the water. but again this was after mine was healed. i have a very deep innie . hope it clears up for you!!! and its completely normal to hit a stall around 3/4 weeks. if you do a search on the dreaded 3 week stall a lot of posts will come up about it. just follow the plan and i promise you it will start again. make sure you are getting your water in. i learned water is truly the secret to flushing out your system. i think between the rapid loss with the 2 week liquid and the rapid loss those first couple weeks, your loss definitely trails off for a week or 2 around 3 or 4 weeks. i think our bodies are like "what is happening". and they take a couple week hiatus to figure it out and catch up. that is my crazy thought anyways. feel free to pm me if you have any questions!!!!

glad all went well! why did you get a drain? dr rantis told me that they dont do drains. i had surgery 12/10 woke up with no drain. a girl i met online had surgery a week after me with rantis as well and woke up with a drain. she was pissed bc she was told they typically dont do drains. i dont recall the reason why she got one....
  22. Do you know for sure your getting a cath? Not all doctors use them. But no big deal I would just use a tampon and let them know. Should not interfere with the cath or surgery. Good luck and stop worrying!
