    10 Days Post Op...stage?

I have not seen one piece of data that shows somebody is dead from eating puréed food at 10 days instead of 14.
  2. I had surgery last Friday at Doctors Hospital of Michigan and Dr. Pleatman is my surgeon. I had a really good experience. I recommend Dr. Pleatman. The hospital was not bad. The prep nurses were very friendly. The hospital was very busy at night and it took some time to get to you when you called. Otherwise it was a good experience.

    They Call Me

It will be over before you know it!
  4. In 2002 I got the lap band and lost enough weight by 2005 that I decided to get a tummy tuck. I was treated completely different by men and women. Men seemed to really like me before even knowing my name or anything about me. I have been overweight my entire life and I guess used to people knowing me for me and not judging me right away by how I looked. My band stopped working in 2005/2006 and I gained all of the weight back. I felt so beyond guilty and disgusted with myself, how could I out myself through all of that and gain everything back??? I think back and I was much younger and was not prepared mentally. I did not feel comfortable in my body. I hated that type of attention. It was do fake and shallow. I liked when people got to know me for who I was and not cause I'm skinny and what society expects you to look like. Fast forward to 2012. I got up to the same weight I was before Lapband in 2002. I was diagnosed with diabetes in April. I got my Lapband removed and converted to the sleeve. I learned so much from everything I've gone through. Now I'm determined to be healthy. I am doing this for the right reasons and I know what to expect as far as treatment and judgement from others.

    Early Soft Foods

I met with my dr on Wednesday. He said his recommended diet of clear liquid for two days, full liquid for 2 weeks, purée for 2 weeks, then soft foods until 7 weeks after surgery is just a guideline and so we do not blame him if we throw up after eating something. He is a character. Lol.
  6. I had Lapband surgery in 2002. It stopped working in 2005. I couldn't find a doctor to help me figure out why it wasn't working and how to fix it. Finally in April 2012, I found one. I got an X-ray that showed the port separated from the tubing. I had surgery last Friday to remove the Lapband and convert to the sleeve. My doctor said when he removed my band, there was too much scar tissue to proceed. While operating, my stomach tore and he was forced to go forward with the sleeve conversion. I had to wear the drain for a week (it's usually removed before you leave the hospital), and I'm very sore due to the complications. I am finally feeling a bit better and I am very grateful things turned out the way they did. I'm glad I didn't have to wait for my sleeve conversion. I have lost 12.5 lbs since my surgery last Friday.

    6 Mo Surgiversary!

That is awesome! You were in the same spot I am before your surgery. I am hoping to get where you are now. Thanks for sharing!!!
  9. Oh my gosh, you are right about the Protein to go shots! That is disgusting.
  10. I can't wait to say those words :-). I know it will get better, time just seems to be going so slow :-)
  11. I have been feeling so weak. Yesterday I felt so nauseous I said I would never drink a protein powder again.
  12. I have been feeling sooooo weak today. I am so light headed and can barely sit up. I finally had to get some protein. I tried the 'Protein To Go' shots. They have 28g of protein and 120 calories. It's only a small amount to drink so it is easier to choke down than a protein shake. I've only tried chocolate. http://proteintogo.com/
  13. Got the Lap Band in 2002. I lost 30lbs but in 2005, the port became separated from the tube. Not one doctor would help me get it fixed. I finally found a doctor that was willing to repair it. He decided to convert me to a VSG. I had surgery this morning. During surgery, the doctor decided there was way too much scar tissue to convert today. While operating, my stomach tore! Fortunately, it was the section of the stomach that is to be removed for VSG. The doctor decided to proceed with the conversion and I am recovering now. I feel very lucky and relieved that it turned out the way it did. I could have not been so lucky and want to thank everyone involved for their great care.
  14. I was just reminded of right after I got the Lapband in 2002. I was at my parents house recovering. Everybody was eating McDonald's for lunch. I couldn't have any since I was a few days post op. I was soooo hungry, the smell made me even more hungry. I wanted real food so bad and was frustrated I couldn't even have a bite. Fast forward to 2012, I had the band removed and converted to the sleeve. Everyone is eating pizza or lasagna or muffins around me. It smells good but I do not have that hunger feeling physically or mentally.
  15. The thought of whey protein powder shakes or added to soup, juice, applesauce, etc. makes me gag. I true to choke it down Sunday (my surgery was on Friday). Yesterday was awful, I barely got 300 calories because I was so nauseous. Today I feel extremely weak and lightheaded. I would rather not eat than choke down whey protein. I'm gagging as I even type it.
