Definitely.....people fail to realize, that from eating so little over time, our stomachs will shrink....
I don't know about amounts of food, but if I were to eat sliders, say, I still can only eat so much because my stomach is now smaller....and with all excess body fat gone, my stomach is flat and hard...so much so my port sticks out like a big lump under my skin...can even see the tubing.
I can tell right away when I drink beer...I have to wait a period of time between the first and second beer....in the pre surgery days, I could drink beer after beer after beer...not to mention all the food that went with it....

I forgot in that long-winded post to say this: I have a polite "stop eating now" burp. I try really hard to listen. Sometimes the food is just so good that I take another bite. If I push it, I get the not so polite "STOP NOW" belch that makes people turn around and stare My 10-year-old niece listens and says "Wasn't that your full burp? You need to put your fork down, Aunt Di!" LOL...gotta love her

I find that my band is much tighter of the morning...as the day wears on, I too get hungrier and can eat more at the evening meal than I've eaten all day.....
I would love to find a couple weeks worth of "menus" for folks that have had lap band surgery....I suck at figuring all this out and find myself eating the same thing over and over and I know I'm gonna burn out soon...

I haven't had trouble with coffee...and am thankful to that...but I have read on here some folks that have had issues...so I think it's normal. Hope other things are going well for you though...you take care okay? Happy 4th of July to ya!!!

With each fill, it was more difficult early morning, but eventually, that has relaxed. I think in part,I was drinking too fast. What I did is bought a cup hot plate warmer and placed it next to my favorite chair. It also has been useful in keeping my cup of food warm my entire 30 minutes while eating. They are meant to be warmers for your desk, so they are portable and cheap. You will find your way! It's so important to live in your 'real' right now. Accept your new changes and improve them where you can.

Your issue could be caused by many things. TOM, excessive sodium, stuck episodes and allergies to name a few. I guess it depends on how long this has been going on? If it's just a few days or a week you might want to ride it out to see if it takes care of itself?
If not, another slight unfill is in order?
One last suggestion? Most people prefer warm or Hot Drinks to soften/loosen up in the mornings. But if the issue is caused by inflammation, chewing on ice chips or very cold fluids might reduce some of that swelling? It's worth a try?

So I know many bandsters can't eat in the morning. But does anyone have trouble drinking coffee? I've always had a cup of coffee first thing in the morning, while getting ready for work. Now I cant even do that - I feel like a big hair ball is stuck in my throat every time I take a sip. I have been having to reheat my one cup of coffee like 5 times, and it's usually around 10am by the time I actually enjoy it. Anyone??
P.S. Last time I had an adjustment was in March...and it was a slight unfill.

I lost massive amounts, but, while receiving many compliments on my newly evolving body, nobody ever said "what the heck happened to your hair? it's horrible!!" At 2.5 years post op... the garbage cans full of hair is just a distant memory....
My point is that we can get kind of worried over these things (understandably) but could probably benefit from just relaxing a bit and realize that in the end things will work out. Eat as best you can, take your supplements and then let the chips (or hair) fall as it may...

Eat red meat as soon as you can. Real Protein.
Whatever they tell you to take as an Iron supplement? Quadruple it.
I lost a fair amount of hair. The moment I took that advice, it abated - tremendously.
    Biotin?
Just made my belly and thighs hairy

I wish I could say that I didn't lose hair, but sadly I cannot.
I started losing at 2 months and it's continued to month 6, although now it's slowing down. I've lost quite a bit on top in the front - it is noticeable. I've also lost a lot on the sides. I have a lot of re-growth now - these hairs are about 1/4"-1/2" long. It makes styling difficult, but it's nice to see.
As mentioned above, you lose hair because, to your body, hair is optional. It's going to take care of the vital organs and necessities before hair.
I've taken Biotin (which helps for re-growth) and Folic Acid with the approval of my doc. I use Nioxin Shampoo. I also use a product called Toppik which helps cover the thin areas.
I will be honest - for me, the Hair loss was horrifying at times. It's embarrassing. HOWEVER, I would do this all over again, even if the next time the hair loss is worse. This surgery has changed my life. I'm glad I did it and I wouldn't change a thing.
    Best of luck to you!

For a few years now I've made the claim, many times, that the most people can expect to lose with the Lap-Band is 8 lbs a month. You, CarolinaGirl and Missy have made me a liar. I know there are others and I apologize for not mentioning everyone but these are the three that just popped in my head.
I'm going to have to ask you to share with all of us how you did this in less than a year? Exercise? Typical daily caloric and food intake? How did you stay motivated? Take your time. We can wait. (insert jeopardy music here)

Per your comment that p90x was not quite a fit for you, perhaps insanity would be more your style. It is more hardcore cardio where p90x is more weight lifting (as heavy as you want to make it).

Was lurking around this morning, saw your post and had to log in and comment.....EXCELLENT post...simple and positive...
There are not enough posts like yours to counter all the negativity on this forum.
It really is quite simple, isn't it...let the band do the work....
I am coming up on 4 years and still share the same things as you do....don't think about food all that much, or worry about eating all day long. (Hunger???) Still enjoy the things in life I have always enjoyed, well some things not all.......you should see the huge ice cream sundae I had last night!
I don't diet anymore either...been set free from all that...it is after all a new life style....thanks to the band, and not me, I eat considerably less than I used to, so when I do I try to eat healthy...with the occasional treats.
I read many posts over the years about peoples struggles, over analyzing everything, getting hung up on little things that make them miss the big picture.....and I wonder if they have even had surgery? I want to say "What about the band? Don't forget the band!"
Again, love to read posts like yours...very refreshing. I wish there were more successful stories li/ke yours on this lap-band forum.
Perhaps the only difference between you and I is that I HAVE become obsessed with exercising...but at my age it has become the fountain of youth....

Yes, this can be true. It happened to me early on. If I ate as much as 200 calories more per day for a couple of days the weight would come off faster. It is the thing about thyroid thinking it is starving. Feed it a little extra and it speeds up I was told. As far as the scales goes. Well, toss that sucker. I bought a digital scale and have gone through 3 batteries in 6 months I got weight so often. My dietitian keeps reminding me to not get on the scale, but I am hooked. Need to start a scales anonymous group I guess. Best of luck.

i really like the original Zumba series and have the entire thing but i'm too out of shape and deconditioned right now to use it.
i'm still pre-op but can't wait till after to start using it!
the original Shawn T series of Hip Hop Abs is pretty good, as well as almost ANY Beach Body series.
    good luck getting going!
