    Hi there Aussie Sleevers,
I am from Brisbane QLD and had my op on 20/7/12. I have been home for a day now and doing great. My surgeon was Dr Reza Adib and was done at the Wesley Hospital. I had no problems at all and the worst experience of the whole surgery was undertaking the leak test as it was absolutely disgusting.
I know this is the best decision I have made and can't wait for my new healthy and active lifestyle ahead of me.
I also go to the Australian gastric sleeve support site but also find it hard to navigate around and find this site is so user friendly especially on my mobile.
Would love to hear from more Aussies on this site and share our experiences.

Skubidz welcome to the thread or the sleeve family.
As the others have said there is a lot of information around and between the lot of us, we have experienced almost everything.
I am now 5 days post my Tummy Tuck and arm lift, and doing well. Still in hospital with 4 drains which is driving me stir crazy, and have had some horrible nausea for the last few days due to pain meds and being backed up, hopefully the backed up part is moving now.
Hard to really see my body at the moment, it is all very bruised and swollen but will eventually know how it will look. Tho I do enjoy putting on underwear without my belly over hanging, the thing I have hated the most.

Great news Nikki!!! Sounds like you will be well prepared.
Thank you all for the well wishes, 4 more days and then I will be under the knife again...I will keep you all up to date with the recovery. I posted on Facebook that I was doing this and one of my friends said the sweetest thing and also the most true and I wanted to share with you all:
"Well Beautiful, there is nothing to fear. You aren't transforming anything but the most superficial part of you and you're only doing that because you want it to better match the real you that has and always will be, borderline perfect."
I am hoping at the end of this I finally see in the mirror what I know on the inside.

I just finished week 4 day 3 of couch to 5k, outdoors! I just couldn't make it to the gym three days this week due to the Ekka and other scheduling conflicts, so had to do my third day on a Saturday. I am pleased I could do if. I love my sleeve. I wouldn't have been able to run 5 minutes straight, two times in a row, if I was still 17 kg heavier!

Thank all. Definitely a bit scary but all is looking good now..the body does heal pretty well, thankfully I am young enough.
Now biggest struggle is getting enough food in, hospital food is all carb, even when I order veggies I am ending up with pumpkin but I must be doing better if I am complaining about the food hehehe
otherwise I am black and blue and numb and stiff and sore but all good signs I am healing

Did any of you see the Sunday program last night with Joe Hockey's interview? He spoke about having the sleeve last December and how he has already lost 30kgs and feels fabulous. They briefly described the procedure too, which might demystify it for some people and make it a more acceptable choice. He talked about his young daughter asking if he would be around by the time she grows up and gets married. When he spoke to his doctor, he confirmed that if he is still around, he would not be in good health and this was the decider for him. He realised he had to do something permanent to improve his health. Good on him for doing so and I think he looks amazing.

    Your friend sounds wonderful, Aussiegirl.
NSV? Does anyone in Brisbane have a recommended jeweler/goldsmith you can recommend to resize my wedding and engagement rings? I am in real danger of losing them off my finger. I don't feel I can trust just anyone, because you do hear stories of diamonds being switched etc. I will probably end up needing them resized at least once more during this journey. For now, I have switched to wearing them on the other hand, which feels really weird. It's strange how wearing rings makes your finger shrink, isn't it?

    Hi everyone
I haven't been on for a while as I'm on holiday (in Australia), but just wanted to post an update - almost eight weeks post op and down 18kg - amazing what a difference two months makes!

Wow you go away for 3 days and it gets busy in here.
I am on the flip side of the plastic surgery.
Had a rough time of it. Ended up having to go back in for emergency surgery as I had slow bleeder and lost 4ltres of blood, needed 4 blood transfusions. Spent the second night in the ICU.
My arms are feeling like they have done a hard work out and a sore bloated.
My back and arms are aching but not taking too many painkillers. Didn't need the muscle tightening which is probably helping me feel better....

I know Liisa has posted about this before but I wanted to share my new little enjoyments!
This Friday I went on a plane and sat in one seat, had plenty of room between my and the tray table. That was my first joy! Then we went to Movie world which I hadn't been to since January. Back then I was getting knocked back on rides or was squeezed Into the ride (extremely humiliating). Every ride I went on was a perfect fit, no awkward moments and I thoroughly enjoyed the day!
So even though I have been in a 7 week stall I definitely have lost Inches!

I couldn't begin to start a list, because I don't know where it would end!
I like feeling fitter, stronger and faster.
I like having almost complete control over what I choose to eat. I think before surgery unless I was on a 'diet' I had no real control and thoughts of eating were all consuming at times.
I like the pride my family and kids have in my achievement.
I'm currently wearing 32 inch pants and medium shirts (and undies!). For a 6ft bloke I like the fact that I'm ahead of the pack. Having said that, I like the fact that generally I'm not comparing myself to others and am just enjoying being me.
I liked reading everyone else's 'likes'
    Hope you're all well,
    Deano

Hey guys- so I am wanting to lose 10 kg in 10 weeks.
So I thought I would throw out a 10 week challenge to anyone interested.
Your challenge must obviously meet your current needs/ focus. For example...
I will exercise at least 3 days a week
I will meet my Protein requirement at least 6 days a week.
I will try a new thing each week
    And on and on etc
A challenge is a personal thing but by throwing it out there it can help to make us accountable and motivate us in this cold weather
    Any takers???
