You must concentrate on liquids right now so you do not end up dehydrated. Most everyone has been in your shoes so do not feel alone!

I am 3 weeks out and have almost given up on feeling normal again or at least for the next few months. I do have the burning feeling at times and personally made the decision to up my PPI to twice a day (in the morning and before bed), it's working so far and is the only way I can survive right now. I will continue doing this until my next doctor's visit (8/29) and for me to stop he is going to have to seriously give me a valid reason.

Mine is pretty constant with big movements, walking and such, it also gets worse after being still for long periods of time. If I am sitting or laying down then the pain is very minimal until it's time to get up.
Will your doctor not call in more pain meds? Mine offered but I've barely touched the ones given to me after surgery so I said no.
I really hope it eases up over the next week and a half because when I return to work it will take my all to concentrate on the job and trying to get in what little liquids and food that I can handle.
I'll cross fingers that we're both better soon!

 I hear you my fellow Texans.....born & raised in Dallas, lived in RGV for 20 yrs, and now in Amarillo...... No matter where you go its hot! lol But at least up here I have winter to look forward to!! I have major breathing issues so heat and I dont get along too well. I am doing better but still not great. In another month I want to start Zumba cuz I am a salsa loving fool and I want to start going to Water aroebics with some friends of mine. Doc doesnt want me straining my knees too much til I'm thinner. I totally agree!!!! Also I'm always freakin' thirsty and I'm afraid I'd get too dehydrated. Being 51, I'm trying to be careful. Love the idea of the walking at home tapes. Thank you. Hugs!!

I was sleeved on 7/17/12 and totally feel your pain. I am taking prevacid daily per doctor's orders but I had reflux prior to surgery as well. I still cannot tolerate Protein Drinks of any type. Not the Isopure premixed Fruit Drinks, not the GNC mixes or even the BariCare mixes that I was on prior to surgery. I am worried about this as my doc presses the importance of Protein as a healing mechanism but right now I could care less. If I cannot get or keep it down then it is no longer important right now. My focus right now is staying hydrated as I can only sip liquids which does not nearly quench my ungodly thirst.

I can see what you are dealing with and my recommendation to you is something a bit different. You have control only over what you eat...and your son eats.
While you love your husband, it is up to him what he eats, what he drinks. Arguing with him has not helped as you have pointed out, being disgusted with him isn't helping, now it's time for you to let go of trying to control what he does and focus on you and your son. If you husband wants fried chicken, throwing it out, will only lead to more drama. Your sole responsibility is to your child and your health at this point.
I am almost 9 weeks out. I started the process in November 2011. Every month I lost 10 pounds before surgery on low carb, high Protein. I went through with the surgery, even after I lost 70 pounds. Right before surgery my father started talking to me about what I was eating, I explained it to him in detail. He has gone from 200 to 169. My son has lost 20 pounds, my husband has lost about 10 pounds (he's more resistant to my diet). Only my parents and husband and son knew about my surgery. Now my neighbors are dieting, my sister in law and brother are dieting, people that have seen me and asked what I have been doing I told and they looked at me while shoving chips & dip in their mouth previously, are all like NO WAY, now I'm going to be the fat one in the family.
Now everyone is on a health kick because they seen what bad shape I was in and truly, I look good now.
If you do not want your son to go through what you are going through, you need to take control of him only. Your husband will have to make that decision on his own. You continue cooking your healthy food, this is what you made for dinner, your husband has a choice of eating it or going to McDonalds, he has a choice of drinking alcohol or not, you do NOT have to stoop to his level and go back into your old ways. He has to change.
The more you nag him the more he will resent you. Ultimatums never work. Tell him you love him, tell him you want to see him healthy, and that when he's ready to change his eating, you will be there for him, but until then, you and your son will be eating healthy, and doing things that will benefit your health because you don't want your son to be an unhealthy adult. You love him, but the unhealthy stuff can't be around your son. If he needs food that is unhealthy, buy it just for himself because it's not part of your life anymore.
Stay strong for yourself and son, eventually your husband will come around and if not, you still have to work on being healthy for your son and yourself.

I work for Workers Comp insurance as a case manager and I pay medical/hospital billing and the hospital can bill whatever they like but there is a fee schedule for every medical procedure there is and that is what they actually get paid they never get paid what they bill, in fact a self paying patient can demand that they pay as per Medicaid fee schedule and the hospital has to accept it.

isajck got a reaction from lovealways in Seeking A Dr That Will Fight Aetna - Aetna Says Surgery Excluded - But It Is Medically Necessary
In all honestly, your problem is with the employer in question not the doctors office. If a procedure is explicitly excluded as a benefit it is because the employer decided this. The truth of the matter is an insurance company only writes policies based on what the employer will cover/pay for. Your doctor's office was helpful in the beginning because you had a health plan that covered the procedure, now that has changed and nothing they do will change such an explicit exclusion, medically necessary or not, if that is how the plan is worded.

In addition to other items, my surgeon has very strict rules about soda consumption and smoking. I was addicted to both as a major coke addict (several a day) and smoker (1/4 - 1/2 pack a day). Never thought I'd be able to stop either but was doubly worried about the soda. I stopped coke, cold turkey, 2 months prior to surgery and the cigs 1 1/2 month. I did this because my surgeon will not knowingly operate on people that still drink soda and/or smoke. Those are his rules and I respect them.
People I have spoken to state that he has very strict pre and post op rules and they are correct but maybe this is how he keeps his complication rates low. I've no idea but I chose him to be my surgeon and feel like it is my duty to follow his rules. There are many WLS docs in my city and if I did not want to tow the line, I could have selected someone else.
Do I still crave two of my biggest vices? Hell yes, almost daily but I am trying to make positive health changes for the future. I went so far as to mutilate my stomach in an effort to lose weight so at least I can do all to make it a worthwhile endeavor.

I have stayed away from carbonation completely since my surgery on April 19th. I was addicted to diet carbonated drinks of just about every kind. I was scared that I would stretch my sleeve with the carbonation, so I stopped drinking them. I do crave them once in a while, but I know I'm better off without ever going back to them.... plus I'm saving money just ordering Water at restaurants!

The liquid, full liquid and puree stages are not easy. There is nothing really to say except you have to suffer through it. I am 12 days out and just started purees. It has been an experience.
One day we'll all look back on this and laugh.
