How plus size stores rip us off!

Pennington's is a plus sized fashion retailer that has been around for over 30 years. They sell reasonably priced, well made clothing; I know I shopped there for years. You can't compare apples to oranges; Pennington's quality can not be compared to walmarts inexpensive junk. And for the record I don't think that plus sized quality clothing costs more, I am spending the same now as I did fat, maybe even a bit more.

    I'm HUNGRY

It is not hunger your stomach has just gone through major surgery and is trying to heal. Definitely take a PPI daily, my surgeon recommended at least for a month but I need one for 4 months. You will have gurgling and noises but it is not hunger.

    Does your stomach growl?

No never. When you have your surgery you will have a lot of noises coming from inside but it won't be growling. The noises I hear now are in my intestines either liquid or solids; I guess because stomach contents gets there so fast now.

    Shorter than I thought!

    Yes I was a solid 5' 10" and now in my "old" age I have shrunk 5" 9 1/2"

    Plastics Before Hitting Goal

I have had plastic surgery before goal and weight at goal. For me the surgeries that have had no change in my skin(with respect to sagging) are the ones that the surgeon performed extremely well and pulled the skin nice and tight. The surgery that the doctor did not well now that more fat is gone my skin is a little loose, obviously not like before but I think this surgeon was to conservative in his skin removal. Oh and not all bodies will change this statement should be taken across the board everyone is different. Go with what your surgeon suggests and don't look back!

    Looking for Breakfast Ideas

Okay so three weeks out don't experiment with pancake syrup; this is just ridiculous to suggest. Anyway again at 3 weeks out you may want to revisit those foods you say you don't like; try different brands, cook different ways. I pureed my cottage cheese and added sugar free pudding flavours, delish! It is way too early on to start having cheese strings, deli meats, pancakes, porridge, cream of wheat, you need your protein at this stage. You might just want to stick with protein shakes until your stomach heals and then in time you may be able to start eating some of the foods you currently can't; good luck!

    Second guessing choice for sleeve

From someone who has had both the sleeve and gastric bypass I highly recommend going with the bypass. Many do well with the sleeve however I found that it was too easy to gain and did not provide me with enough restriction. I am much more successful with the bypass maintaining since January.

    Digestion/gastrointestinal issues

I agree to stay away from anything with sugar in it. Yes you can puree your scrambled egg; I did. At two week out I wasn't on pureed still on full liquids; you know the saying just because you can(nut approved) doesn't mean you have too. Listen to your body, if you don't feel like you should go to pureed yet stick to full liquids, Protein shakes, cream soups(strained) and such. I did this and had no issues with any foods I had started to consume.

    To much weight loss

I have been in maintenance from a sleeve to bypass revision since January. I am currently 7.8 pounds below my target weight. I am not trying to lose more it just happened. I beleive my body will know when I have gotten to its' set point.

    Sleeve to Bypass info needed

  11. I had sleeve to bypass revision and considering I weighed much less I lost I beleive at a quicker rate. I see you are eating oats for breakfast; during the wieght loss phase I would never have eaten such a high carb food plus it does not satiate you protein does. Stick with higher protein meals and maybe your weight loss will increase. Oh same with beans I didn't have any beans until I reached my goal weight. Now I am 7.8 punds below my goal wieght and I do eat beans!

Steps per day -- how many do you shoot for?

I have a garmin vivofit that I never take off! While you are gardening, swimming and cycling you should be also showing step usage. I also have mine set to 10,000 and the most steps I have gotten to is 14,500.
  13. Yes I agree go with the full gastric bypass, the cadillac of surgeries! GB is my third surgery wish that I had it done in the first place.

Success in Tijuana with Dr. Ismael Cabrera

Why don't you check out one of the surgeons here at Bariatric Pal. All of the surgeons do 3 leak tests that includes the xray leak test. I have had two procedures in Mexico, one here with Dr Zavalza through Bariatric Pal and it was a wonderful experience. I am not sure what you are quoted with Dr Cabrera but you might want to check out someone else.

    Failure

So I started with the band 2005, sleeve 2012 and now gastric bypass 2015!! Yes I know failure is possible however the gastric bypass is the cadillac of surgeries for a reason. My stomach obviously is much smaller so I can eat much smaller portions. I have not had bread, pasta, rice and really don't plan too, there are great substitutes out there. I have been in maintenance now since January which is fantastic for me never learned how to maintain before. I don't have a sweet tooth(carb addict) but I do indulge in rice cakes and paln tortilla chips. From what I have experienced you won't fail, just remember to always follow your healthy eating food plan and have occasional treats. Best of Luck!!

When do you become a "vet" here on BP?

    I believe one year
  17. I had no problem on my own at all. Unless you now have mobility issues you will be fine. Definitely take a taxi home from the hospital. Make sure your home is prepared for your arrival; all protein drinks/ water/medicines ready and accessible. Keep things within arms reach, i.e. bowls/glasses on shelves lower in your cupboards(reaching level) nothing too high or too low. Think about this for everything in your home that you may need(shoes, clothes, toiletries). You will do great, good luck!

    Anti-inflammatories off limits

Yes I say take head, I am 31 weeks post surgery and am having some arthritis pain so for a few weeks have been taking advil(not continually and not everyday) anyway the last couple of days I have had stomach and intestinal pain, NOT GOOD. I will not be taking again unless it is just one pill maybe once a month!

Post of diets around the world

I agree that diet plans vary greatly however you need to decide what foods work for you. For instance at 8 weeks out I would never have been able to eat toast AND get my protein in, just not possible. My NUT had also recommended eating more vegetables and fruit right from the start, I didn't do this again how would I fit it in. You will figure out how your body reacts to certain foods and what foods you need to continue to lose weight to reach your goal.

    Societies Views of Fat

Firstly I don't think Amy is plus-sized from what I saw in her nearly naked photo I would put her at a 12-14. She certainly is NOT a size 6-8. Not an american 6-8 that's for sure.
  21. Wow what a nightmare of an experience. Yes Almanza so I have read has law suits and deaths associated with his terrible practice in medicine. Did you research him before you went? Anyway I am so glad to hear that you went back and had the DS and are doing great!! If other posters would have researched Almanza first they never would have accused you of being a troll; so sorry for that. Normally this site is wonderful with lots of information sharing and support. Don't leave just yet give us another chance. Again congrats!!

What can I do with...Protein powder?

I too love my protein powder with yogurt. Protein mug cake is delicous. You could probably whip up some cottage cheese and protein powder for a thicker consistency add applesauce or fruit on top.

    Lowest sugar Yogurt?

If you purchase a zero sugar or no added sugar yogurt any of the sugar grams are naturally occuring in the yogurt itself, you can't get away from it. The whipped greek yogurt that I have had, sorry can't remember the brand, I think dannon is delicious and comes in all sorts of flavors, the coconut one is yummy!

Trying to get back on track

First thing to do is be honest with yourself; you don't gain weight eating 700 calories a day. Are you actually tracking every morsel/liquid you put in your mouth. You may be surprised how quickly calories add up. Seek professional guidance on your food choices and what you should be eating.
