  2. After my husband suffered a terrible injury that left him bed ridden for 6 months, I was his sole caregiver. My weight made caring for him very difficult. I also realized that because he was in much better health than I was, that if it had been me that was injured, I would not have the same recovery as he has. Thank he has recovered and learned to walk again and I am now waiting for my insurance approval. We are both blessed and have a new outlook on our days to come. Good luck on your journey.

The end of a long-term relationship! Finding myself again!

You will find lots of support here. Good luck on your journey!
  4. I was miserable at first as well and couldn't figure out why everyone loved their machines so much. I vowed to use it 30 days before I gave up and used melatonin to help fall asleep. I would wake up in the beginning around 2am without fail cut the machine off then go back to sleep. Finally I slept longer and longer and now I don't want to be without it. I use the the nose mask because the pillows sent too much air up my nose at a time but others love them. So vBulletin dont give up. Keep tryin. I hope it works out for you.

  7. @@mclorrie it sounds like you are doing great and the pounds are dropping. Glad to hear things are going well with your return to work. Are you able to drink an 8 oz Protein shake in the mornings and if so how long does it take to get it down? Keep up the good work!

  13. Congratulations to all you June sleevers! Looks like I wilk be a summer sleever My cardiologist made me get a heart cath which I finished yesterday and he says I am clear for surgery. @mclorie I am so excited you have your date. I will be behind you shortly. All the best for the June sleevers!
  14. Hello to everyone! I see some new names so welcome @@mclorrie I hope it all works out like you planned. That would be disappointing to have to wait another month. @@Seahawkgirl - That stinks! I hope the get a spot in the schedule and you make get your June date. Hang in there. @xrayyoung22- psych eval was a breeze, and I was nervous like you were. Dont worry! @@butterfly56 - that was on page 22 ftom CandyCrushVSG. You can go to her profile and send her an ed mail from there. Well, I too may end up moving to July. I just got a new position at work, and I am not sure if I can handle both at the same time. I will be thinking this over as I wait for my final visit on 5/18.

    Post op day 9

Sounds like you are doing great! I need to order some of that Unjury Chicken Soup before my surgery. Most of the protein drinks and supplements are sweat, and I would think that it would be easy to get tired of sweat stuff all of the time. Good idea with the baby food!

Congratulations on your success and the new grandbaby! So adorable!
  18. @butterfly56 Hello Kim Welcome
  19. @@butterfly 56 I asked my surgeons office and they told me about the support group. While we are talking about fears.. mine is getting an IV in. I have a real fear of it. It is always terrible for blood tests, had one blow out during my hysterectomy. My surgeons nurse told me to drink lots of water and drink a poweraid the day before to plump my veins. This actually worked for my blood work. Still a fear. Congratulations to everyone for pressing on and getting the to-do's done!!

    Psych evaluation

Just finished my psych eval and I am all cleared for surgery! So if you are nervous don't be. Like others have said it wss a casual conversation about my history of weight loss attempts, addiction history, who my support group post op would be, how my weight impacts how I feel about myself and my expectations of the surgery. Good luck, you will do fine. I did go to a psych that was referred by my surgeons office.
  22. @@mclorrie yay!!! We are getting there!! @@Debiann813 - I am so jealous! Congrats @@butterfly56 - I think it is a normal part of the process to have doubts. You are human . If you read my blog you can see I started my journey in 2012, got scared of loosing food and stopped the process to try again without surgery. Well I did try and have lost and gained. During that time my husband suffered an injury that left him non weight bearing. My weight made it hard for me to hekp him when he needed me most. I also realized thst if I had suffered thst same injury, I did not have the strength or mobility he had to move himself into the wheelchair. He is well now praise God, but the experience made me take a fresh look at what is important. Food has been too important for too long for me. Just give yourself the time to think it through until you come to the point you know if it is right for you. You ultimately make the if and when. Good luck and ((hugs))

  24. @@butterfly56 Isn't this forum great? And, Kudo's to @@Seahawkgirl for starting this string. It is now a habit for me and even the family knows that I don't drink anything carbonated. Last week I started replacing breakfast and lunch with a shake. I have found out pretty quickly that the amount of protein in a shake really makes a difference in how fast I am hungry again. I am pretty hungry by the time I get home from work, and I eat dinner with the family. But this change alone should help me shed the 10 pounds I want to loose and give me a good shake demo at the same time. Last week I tried all flavors of Muscle Milk (regular) and loved them all. I set them in the freezer to get super cold and they are great. I did try the Muscle 100 and didn't like it as well as the others. It has 5g of carbs where the regulars have 8g (I think). Post op I may have to choose something with higher protein, so I have picked up Premier Protein chocolate from Sam's to try next week. I have reduced my caffeine a good bit, but plan to cut it out completely in the next 4 weeks. I will miss my morning coffee (only 1 cup at this point) and my tea, but it has to go. You can see a post on here from Mclorrie about the half caf which is what I am switching over to. My Psyc visit is next week and I am nervous too. I will let you know how it goes. Good luck to you as well. Hope everyone had a nice weekend!
