  1. I am just checking to see if this is normal... I had my surgery on 8/28 so I'm two weeks post op and it seems like my main incision is more sore now and when I move certain ways it feels like tugging or something and gets sore. I lifted my son once a few days ago and think it may be related but I worry if it's inside or just normal healing....

On a side note I am totally not getting enough Protein. I tried another brand (muscle milk) and broke out in hives the next morning... So apparently am allergic. :( I forced myself to have some of my Unjury today but it was not easy to not throw up. Ugh!

Yes, that pain is normal. However, it is extremely important to be cognisant of what you are doing and how much you are lifting. While you are healing, you can inujure yourself if you do not follow doctors orders and only lift what you should. Take it easy :)

As for the protein, you need to go buy samples of several different products and find one that works for you. Personally, I cannot stomach the Isopure.< em> I tried many flavors. I found I liked the Atkins premade, but I also discovered Premiere Protein Shakes. they are at sam's club and have 30 g of protein per shake.< /p>

I bought powdered protein from GNC and it makes me instantly run to the bathroom. It was almost $20 a bag, so that's why I encourage you to buy single servings before committing to a kind/brand!

Good luck, protein is vital to your success so I hope you find something that works!

  2. Hello everyone,

I was sleeved 8/2, so I'm a little over 3 weeks post op. The first week, I lost 12 lbs! I could hardly believe it! Since then, I've lost 3 more lbs. It's been super frustrating, as the scale will be down one, then up one, then down one over and over again. I know there is a stall around 2 weeks out-but does it last for two weeks?! I am exercising, nothing crazy, walking and elliptical. I average between 650-800 calories. Any ideas/help/advice? Thanks in advance.

  3. Yes!!! I thought it was just me. I am tired during the day but then when I lay down at night I can't sleep for anything. I figured it was due to not getting enough activity during the day so I increased my walking on the treadmill.

Hey thanks for your reply. I've been researching this a lot, and there is some preliminary studies that show a correlation between reduced ghrelin hormone and sleep. It's really frustrating some nights! It's like having a newborn all over again.

  4. M packing my bags today for Thursday (ok one bag and special water...drugs etc). I also have to write a just in case letter to my son...which is making me cry just thinking about it lol so I don't know how I'll do it.

Best luck to all who are this week!

I wrote a letter to my son just in case too!! Sobbed the whole time, but was glad I did it.

  5. Is anyone moving to full liquids this week?!? I started yesterday and I can tell you it's a challangeI...I'm finally full, all the time. I'm sure it will get better with time, but it's so odd to take a few bites or pudding and fell stuffed. I forgot lunch today, looked at the clock at 3 and realized it was time for Protein. I guess each step is going to require diligence on my part not to forget to take care of my tummy.

Y'all let me know how it's going with intake and how you are feeling.

Big hugs to all our August sleevers!!!

I'm not 100% sure what 'full liquids' means. But I'm 9 days post op and have had Protein Drinks, Clear Liquids, the last few days I have added in sf pudding, and really really thin mashed potatoes with Protein Powder mixed in. Feels great to have a slightly larger variety to pick from. Intake is going okay, Im always short on liquids each day and need to work on this! I just feel stuffed all of the time when taking in Water, but I know I am a little dehydrated. Then I go for a walk, and sweat, and get even more dehydrated! I can't wait until the swelling is all of the way down. Good luck girl !

    All,

I am sleeved !!!! I am in MX and I was sleeved around 10:30 am. Feels fine. I have been walking . I am full of drugs. Dr Alvarez repaired a hiatal hernia along with the sleeve. Jessica the nurse is great very caring and helpfully. Thank you for the support. Really smooth expirence so far.

    Regards,

    Daddyfat2thin

Congrats! Best wishes in your journey.

Sleeved yesterday morning around 7:30am. My experience so far hasnt been so bad. The doc told me after surgery that they found a hiatal hernia and a little disease on the liver which was from being obese and possibly any medicines. Im still terribly sore from gas and wishing i could have something to drink. I started walking right after i left the recovery room and have been walking off and on since. The incision sites are a little sore and only hurt when i sit up too long.

I think the bed is making the back pain worse. Im able to burp a little but none from the other end. Im really sensitive to smells and had to request another nurse asst b/c the one i had bathed in this awful cologne.

Anyway i would love to hear some positive experiences for the Aug 10th sleevers!

I also have been so incredibly sensitive to smells. The same thing happened to me when I got pregnant. But there are times I hate it-certain things make me gag that I never used to even notice before! Laundry soap, certain foods, etc. I hope this goes away! Anyone else know anything about this?

  6. OK....so I hit a bump in the road...I'm still in the hospital. I had a pin hole leak...n had to go back in surgery Wednesday.... the day I should've went home. I am feeling a lot better n should be home by Sunday. At least it was found before I went home....out of the thousands of surgeries he has performed.. I am his first leak.

So glad you are doing better!

  7. I had my surgery Aug 6th and I'm still in a lot of pain. I'm having really bad reflux and spasms and it's brought me to tears a few times. I'm starting to question if this is worth it? I can't even drink Water without pain.

Please tell me that the pain and spasms and reflux will go away! I did not imagine it to hurt this much. Was I being too naive?

Did your doc prescribe a PPI? and if so, you need to call them and ask to up dosage and/or switch. Different ones work for different people. The reflux is a problem that can be avoided with the right medication, so please give them a call as I know how uncomfortable it is !Good luck.

  8. I'm sorry to hear that your insurance requires 6 month diet' date=' that would suck so bad. My surgeon doesn't require the supervised diet because he believes that most people who seek wls do so as a last resort and they've mostly tried every single diet out there.[/quote']

It's what insurance requires, not the surgeon. Insurance is the one writing the check, so they get to make the rules.
