MissMistyC got a reaction from m-strings in Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
My surgeon was Dr. David Thoman in Santa Barbara, CA and I had my surgery at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Dr. Thoman was great and the facility was amazing. Every room was private with a big flat screen tv and a couch that folded out into a bed for your loved ones to stay with you if they wanted. It was more like a hotel than a hospital!

Lol, I'm guilty of licking cheese puffs when I was a week out, but, got over the craving and now I'm almost 6 weeks out , what I do snack on are Gerber Graduates cheese puffs! They are so low in calories and totally disenigrate in your mouth! My dr said they are perfect to snack on when craving carbs, just don't over do it! Hope this helps!

Divorce rates to go up with WLS marriages. Sometimes it's the insecurity that does things in. Sometimes the WLS partner can't cope with the new attention (that they've maybe never had) and does things they probably shouldn't do. Sometimes it just brings to light much, much deeper rooted issues. Who knows the reason. Point is - no one can refute that in a lot of cases, it adds distress to a relationship.
I'm not saying this is you so pelase don't take it that way, but generically a lot of women have been overweight their entire lives. A lot of them marry the first person to show them any interest because, who knows? Maybe they think it's their only chance. Maybe they don't want to look a gifhorse in the mouth, or whatever. Maybe they think it's "real and perfect" because there's no frame of reference. At the end of the day, obesity does change you, mentally. And losing the obesity changes you also. All relationships grow. You can grow together like this | | or you can grow apart like this \ / but either way, you're growing.
I'm not gonna judge you for who you're with. Everyone, even battered women, are in the relationship because they get something out of it. Only you know what that something is, and/or what it's worth. There's very little anyone else can or should say that will make any difference at all. You will either reach a place where you enjoy the relationship, accept it, tolerate it, or leave it. Whatever your path is, good luck on the process of getting there.
When I met my husband I was what he called "the total package" (I'll debate that until the day I die). He has always felt like he didn't deserve me, but he has never worried that I would leave him. He was slim when we met (as was I) and has put on about 60 lbs (but he's 6'4 so 60 lbs gives him a poochy belly and moobs, and that's about it). If he trimmed up, losing him would not even come to mind. Whenever I hear "so and so is afraid I will lose them if I lose weight" two things come immediately to mind:
If they truly fear you will leave them if you're thin, do they also feel you're just staying because you're fat, and by virtue of that, what -- have no other choice?

That's a fairly irrational (or maybe I should say extreme) reaction to occur in a devoted, loving relationship. If a spouse's initial reaction to anything other than divorce papers is "OMG you will leave me" then there's something else going on. If you can figure out what his something else is, then you'll be that much farther ahead. (It sounds like he hasn't been the best partner, and surely he's aware of that - it sounds like #1 might apply).

Are you currently pregnant? (Not sure what "rushed surgery to give him children" means.) Might want to get yourselves in a better personal, partner, & financial situation before kids. They really are not magical glue that holds everything together regardless of how many cracks are there. They're more like fault magnifying glasses. But again - not my place to judge - just giving you my two cents.

I was sleeved 10/4/11. Glad you had a great time on the coast. I don't miss the heat. I see by your stats, you're pretty close to mine. I never reach 5'7". I stopped growing at 5'6 3/4" so I'm about 5'6ish now. I can't believe that I'm almost to goal. I had convinced myself that 160 would be fine because I didn't lose any weight for 3 weeks and the loss has definitely slowed, but all of a sudden, I have lost 4 lbs in the last week, so I'm pretty excited to make it to goal. My doctor told me to lose all I want before my 1 year anniversary, because it will really slow down after that.

MissMistyC reacted to Lissa in Leaks
Seriously, no joke intended at all, if you get a leak or other complication, you will know it! Symptoms vary, but most people who have leaks have severe discomfort, vomiting, paid, fevers, and HUGE problems being able to eat. Not everyone has the same symptoms, but they are basically in bad shape from the start and never feel any better.
There have been two people that I've seen who didn't have "major" symptoms, but those folks still knew something wasn't right very early. At 3 and 5 weeks, you're not out of the woods, but I'd say you probably don't have a leak if you're not having problems already. If you're truly concerned about it, discuss it with your doctor, either at your next appointment or make a call to the office Monday. For most of us, aftercare is a big part of the process.
    Good luck!

Thank God he cares enough to help you. It could be the stress your body is in that made you blow, after all the spouse is the closest person in our lives and we tend as women to take a lot of our emotions out on them, I know I do. Mine doesn't even ask me anything about the upcoming surgery at all. I think he thinks if he doesn't mention it it will go away and I won't have it.

I teach 5th grade in AZ. Had my surgery on June 14th and have lost almost 35 lbs.... I mentioned that I was considering surgery back in the fall of 2011, but did not talk about it with anybody outside of my close co-workers.
I have not seen but two of my coworkers since the end of the school year and am SO hoping they notice a difference. I am beyond glad I was able to have the surgery at the beginning of summer break, it gave me time to heal and learn how to work on my new lifestyle. Not to mention it will be nice to go back to work looking and feeling better.
I figured if someone asks what I did I will tell them the truth.... Eat a high Protein, low calorie, nearly no carb diet and exercise. Not a single word of this is a fib.

MissMistyC reacted to GI283 in Isopure Popsicles...!
Found the best thing tonight. Picked up a popsicle tray today at Walmart for 1 dollar. The kind my mom used to have when I was a kid to make homemade treats where you fill them up with koolaid and then put the plastic handles/caps on them and freeze.
Filled the sections with Mango Peach Isopure, put the handles in and put it in the freezer... Couple of hours later had sugar-free, Protein loaded popsicles. If I'm going to have the craving to eat popsicles, might as well keep getting the protein, too.
Plus, the size tray I bought made exactly 2oz portions.
    Summer, post-op fun!!!

I've told people that have asked that I had a procedure to help get my diabetes under control that involved cutting out part of my stomach that makes particular hormones (which is true lol). Surprisingly, it doesn't go any farther than that...The next thing out of their mouths is usually well, you look great and how are your blood sugars now?
