Ijam75 got a reaction from Sarah78_RN in My Suggestion-Stop The Obsessing. Rules Are Meant To Be Broken
Plenty of people have gotten very sick and ended up in the hospital from eating the wrong foods too quickly.
I'm glad that YOUR doc has laid out a plan that works well for YOU. However, attempting to debunk other members opinions (which they formed from their doc's), by simply offering a different opinion (based off of what your doc told you), really doesn't work. Until some long term studies have been completed, we are all really guessing.
Pick a doc you are comfortable with and follow their rules.

Ijam75 got a reaction from Texas2Maine in Dr. Kim
    Hi
I have a aetna and used Dr. Kim as well. I had no wait period other than his preop diet and availability at Baylor Trophy Club where I wanted the surgery. To be honest, I did not care for his personality at all during the two preop appointments. I had heard from people going into this that he didn't have the best "bedside manners" and tried to not let it bother me. Honestly, after the first visit I was mentally picturing myself choking him lol. However, I kept reminding myself that I was looking for the best surgeon with the best stats, not a new buddy to hang out with.
His staff is amazing, this cannot be stressed enough.
When you are ready for surgery, you will not be one of the people on here asking what you can eat and drink. You will have tons of info provided.
As for the surgery, mine went great. Up and walking a few hours later, never got sick, his staff visited a few times while I was there, next day went home and never took anymore meds.
Lastly, he is one of the strictest doc out there. No smoking for a month prior or ever again. liquid diet for 2-3 weeks before, HIS diet. liquids for another 3 weeks after surgery and then on to puree. Again, he is strict, but look up and ask him about his numbers.

My wife is an RN and ER director, so yeah, we were prepared for the worst as well. Being that she only sees sick people, we really never imagined my recovery. I have not taken any pain meds since being discharged, was walking right after surgery and have never gotten sick. The only discomfort I had was quickly cured by gasX strips the first week.
    Congrats and good luck.

Sometimes people say really dumb thing because they think (who knows where they got the idea) that they're being lighthearted or funny, when in reality, they're just being asses. If she feels like you have a close enough relationship to say something like that to you, then I would tell her that it really hurts your feelings that she's being very glib with a major life choice (and a major surgery to boot). I'm not sure if she's the type to make fun of everything, and I think that it's hard to gauge that outside of our nice little circle of support here, but just write it off to poor social skills I guess!

I tired my hardest to be good during mine, but then again my doctor was very very strict if I didnt loose 10% of my weight before surgery they would not do it.. so I was on my P's and Q;s so to say... plus who wants a fat liver during surgery that could cause serious complications if they accidently injure it..... I say stick to the diet as much as possible its for your benifit and health that they require it .. the month before surgery and after surgery were the hardest but worth every single minute of it.
(Note that I did on occasion put somehting in my mouth chew it up and spit it out but I dont consider that cheating since I didnt swallow it ... lol )
November 6th marks my two month post opt and I am already 58 lbs down.... :tongue2:

I was given the OK to drink faster at my 10 day followup. For the first few days it would take about 30 mins to drink a 20oz bottle. Slowly it got netter, 2.5 months out I can chug a 20oz bottle in just a minute. We're all different.

I am glad you brought this up ljam75, I wasn't sure how to do it...
In regards to this I wanted to mention LADYIVY,
When people don't respond to a post, it isn't a personal reflection on you as a person/your success and it definitely doesn't mean we do not care. When people are new to the site, they can lurk around for a while before finally posting. Then there are post that I read days, weeks, months after posted because I missed it or I simply read a post get what I need out of it and move on cause I am busy/searching for something specific. There are so many reason why people don't respond right away. It's hard sometimes to ask for attention/support when you need it but if you do, I am confident there are many people here willing to give it to you I have been overwhelmed by the kindness and support of people on this site. I know you are hurt by the lack of responses to your post yesterday but know that it wasn't ment to be hurtfull, it happens all the time to many of us!

" I just posted that I hit onederland. I have been on this site for about a year now. I feel like I didn't lose it fast enough to get a congratulations for hitting onederland. Out of 160 people that looked, two bothered to comment. I worked my butt off. So what, it is coming off a little slower."
Why not just be honest or quietly leave? You are upset that you did not get the amount of responses you had hoped for, so instead create an "im leaving" thread. We all dwell on numbers to a point.
