I think everyone has had this feeling of dread. I have been fearful that I would lose some and gain it all back but that cant happen now. We have been jaded by our past. You are just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Trust me when i say this "You will lose your excess weight". You will no longer have a fear of failing cause this will work for you. Just follow the surgeons orders and you will look back at your self doubt and laugh about it. Be proud of each ounce of loss.

The apple/melon is okay. I have not tasted the others. It is very very sweet. The texture reminds me of watery Jello. I have not had it since I had surgery cause the artificial sweetners make my mouth foam up. Not a good feeling

I had staples and no band. I know the other surgeon that works in my surgeons practice uses glue instead of staples. Either way, Whatever works for them I guess. I had mine removed and it really was no biggie. My scars are a light pink and they are fading every week.

    @@x0CheekzVSG
Do not be afraid you are going to fail. I went through exactly what you are going through. Yes you are in starvation mode. your body doesnt know that you are trying to lose weight for your health, All it knows is that you are starving therefore it is trying to help you by keeping your body fat. Try to eat some ricotta and drink your Protein shakes. You will be fine. I know you are afraid cause i was too but that is the old diet mentality coming through. We all tried and failed so much that it is locked in our brains. You will succeed and you will eventually be hungry again. All that is expected of you is your best and no more than that. Try to eat what you can and you will move on to other varieties of food. My issue was the lack of options. If you ever need to just vent send me a message.

Oh yes, I know about that. I had the worst hunger pains. I still get them sometimes. I found that it was more of an acid reflux problem than anything. I started taking prilosec and it has dissapated drastically. Hang in there. it does get better. I am on my 5th week now and let me say, I am over the moon with my progress. I am so happy to be off the liquids and eating again. Once you start to eat food again you will start feeling better. I can still only eat 3 oz at a time. Thats a whole other issue cause it is mental...lol

I dont have any children but I can say you will be feeling back to yourself in about a week. I would just recommend resting as much as possible within that week because the hardest part for me was the anesthesia. It takes a little while for you to kick that out of your body. Other than that you will be golden.

I had the most awful thirst too. It was like I had been walking around in the desert for weeks. I begged for a Water sponge. The nurses gave into my requests because I would not leave them alone about it. My tongue was sticking to the roof of my mouth when I tried talking and my lips were stuck to my gums. I guess you dont hear much about it cause it is a trauma that we just want to forget. deny,deny,deny...lol

Personally i stay away from fruit. Our bodies dont know one sugar from another. I dont think its a problem having it sometimes but I would imagine that it will lead to deeper cravings for sweets. I would just say to keep control of it and when you do eat fruit in small portions try eating it with some Protein.

I think this is the crux of your problem. Increased exercise takes increased calories to sustain. If you are active and still only consuming 800 calories a day, you will run into problems with weight loss and energy levels. Try increasing your calories by introducing an extra high-Protein snack once a day. You may also want to introduce a few complex carbs (gasp!) shortly before your workouts. I started seriously exercising right around my 4 month mark as well and by adding a string cheese stick in the morning and then some granola or kashi Cereal to my afternoon yogurt (last thing I eat before I work out), I was able to have the energy I needed to get through my workouts, not feel hungry through the day, and continue losing weight.

When you get a chance you should research starvation mode. It is very interesting actually. Our bodies were designed to hold on to as much fat as possible when it feels as though you are going through a famine. It will eventually lose the battle but at a cost. It is imperitive that were are getting enough Protein in our diet daily or it will start converting your muscle to glucose in order for proper brain function. We are amazing mechanisms. I feel your pain though.

I'm convinced the United States started getting fatter when that damn pyramid came out (like the mid 70's?) with grains as the base on the bottom. I don't think that is coincidence.

I felt the same way and I have read lots of posts on this forum about the dreaded feeling of failure. Its becasue you have tried so many things and failed so many times before. We are stuck in the perpetual trap of murphys law. We think "Whatever can go wrong will go wrong". Its a lie we tell ourselves. You will succeed. You will be fine and you will overcome this feeling of dread. We will all preservere. Take life by the ass and run with it!
