Laceyloveland reacted to firebelle10 in When Do People Notice?
I work at a firehouse with all men. I've lost 43lbs and I finally had the first compliment today. He was like... " um I don't know how to say this cause women are really sensitive about these things but it looks like you have lost weight. You look nice".
Now-I wear a uniform everyday which is not flattering to a women's figure. He said this while I was in some tight black workout pants and a hot pink shirt and had just finished running on the treadmill. My crew has seen my eating habits and workout habits change drastically.
Ill take it!

Work out four hours a day?! That's hilarious. And ridiculous.
Yes, take advantage of the do-called "Honeymoon Period" to make healthy, PERMANENT changes. Going to extremes is what got us all here. And going to new extremes will not serve us well either.
Be aggressive, but be smart, too.

Here's a thread that might help you a bit. Unfortunately many of us that have had & are continuing to have great experiences feel bad posting how easy this is for us.

The poster is following their doctor's guidelines. It isn't up to you to determine whether they are progressing too fast. The doctor likely has a lot more training and experience than you do. BTW, laughing cow cheese is quite soft! There is absolutely no chewing required with that cheese.
It bothers me that the poster was asking whether they were eating too much food and if shakes count towards liquids, but most everyone jumped on the fact that they think at seven days out they shouldn't be consuming certain things. People need to understand that every surgeon has different guidelines and just because you may have been required to do something different doesn't mean that someone else is doing it wrong. We should be here to support each other, not to tear each other down.

I had mine done on Monday. I think I am doing pretty well. It was not that bad. Mine was a redo, I had my lapband taken out in Dec. and just got the sleeve. So excited, if this was the worse of it. I can so do this!!!

Great news! Your journey is here
Rest well and take good care of yourself. Keep getting up and walking and doing your best to sip those liquids.

You are lucky with no gas! I'm still pre-op, so I have no idea about getting up and down, but when I had abdominal surgery before I just had to sort of "roll" myself off the bed to the standing position. Good luck, maybe it will get easier soon!

Lucky no gas pains ever! But it really hurts getting up from lying down and laying down. I've tried abdominal binder and support pillows. Any other ideas? Neither seems to make s difference!

So, you've been 6 weeks, maybe more, without a cigarette? What an amazing accomplishment! Although you're going through a rough time, you've got to be excited about that! I'm not a smoker, never have been, but I'm glad you've made so many great changes in your life. Do your best! I know you can do it! Good Luck!

Laceyloveland reacted to O.T.R. sleever in 11 Days Off Work Enough?
Since you are a Dr. I assume regiment & discipline are something that you are use to.
IMO if you can plan your nourishment throughout the day & stick to it, I think you will be fine.
Not saying you'll be completely pain free, and in the groove, but by day 11 it will be so tolerable that you will want something to do.
I'm a truck driver, and I believe I could have gone back to work in less than a week, the only reason I didn't is because of all the shaking and movement in the truck.

Every dr. Has their patients doing diff things. I started a new job 1 week after my surgery. My dr. Okayed it because it ws a desk job.

I took off 2 weeks and was glad I did. I had no pain by week 3, but I was EXHAUSTED and mean bone crushing weak. Everything physically was an effort week 3. If I had it to do over, I would have worked half days on week 3. good luck to you!

Laceyloveland reacted to Sleeving into success in 11 Days Off Work Enough?
Hello! I had my surgery and I was ready to go back to work a week later. My job was mostly desk work, but the stairs up to my office were a task for a few weeks, and I also had to be very careful around my clients. I went back to work after 10 days. If you follow everything to the T, you will have better success, starting with your preop diet. My surgeon says that part if the reason I recovered so quickly was because I never cheated on pre-op, and because as soon as I got home I started walking. It was just a small distance, and I turned around when pain came. But he says that really sped up my recovery! Happy sleeping!
