  1. Bmarion, sounds like ur pcp doesn't really "get it". Have u considered asking ur surgeon to refer u to someone else that they know is more supportive? I bet it would make this difficult part of the journey easier. And best of luck with ur insurance. I wish mine paid for it, but I am grateful there are less "hoops" with cash pay. Thoughts and prayers with u.

  2. Welcome! I'm new here too! Just got the ok from my primary care Dr. And waiting for the next step! Sorry ur family isn't being supportive, my mom wasn't @ first but came around and is now behind me. People on this site have been so supportive and such a comfort and inspiration for me! Please keep us all updated on your progress! I don't have a surgery date yet, and I'm already nervous! Lol! I'm a surgeon myself so I know its pretty safe, just rather be on the other end of the scalpel:). I can tell u everyone is nervous before a procedure! It's totally normal! U will do great!

  4. Well, primary care was 100% supportive! Yeah! I worried for no reason. He actually helped start the bariatric center and his sister is the head nutritionist. I couldn't be happier! Best of luck with everyone's doctor. My suggestion is... If they are not supportive consider changing to one who is. I am a physician myself, and I feel its really important to have a good rapport w ur doctor. That being said, it would have been hard for me if he had told me to try another diet. And it would have been difficult to change drs. But honestly I would have. It's that important!

  5. I totally agree that u need to take care of yourself before you deal with your boyfriend. A person who is recovering is physically compromised (temporarily) and u just shouldn't have to deal with emotional stress right now. Be kind to yourself!!! Drink Water, sleep, and know a much better life is waiting for you. Have u considered that this is a big adjustment for him too? It should be a positive one, but maybe he us feeling insecure about the "new you" wanting and needing him still? Maybe he is intimidated by ur new confidence? Only u know what is going on inside ur relationship. If he can't be supportive than u can do better!
