    How Often

I am 7 weeks post-op and I eat right about every 3 hours, now mind you that it is a small portion but I eat on this schedule usually: Breakfast - 7am Snack - 10am lunch - 1pm Snack - 4pm dinner - 6:30pm Snack 9:30pm Lots of Water throughout the day and sometimes I skip the afternoon snack if I am still satisfied from lunch. Keeping hydrated with lots of water and/or non-caloric beverages is key! I am down 30 pounds in 7 weeks. Good Luck!
  2. Good Luck! I was sleeved on 10/3/12 and absolutely NO REGRETS! Down 30 pounds since. Feel awesome! I too had thoughts racing through my head and stressed out but miracously as I walked through the hospital doors that morning I felt a sense of calm come over me. I did great! No complications. Best gift I ever gave myself. Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress! If you have any questions to help settle your mind, ask away....

Ok I Need Some Help Please

It really depends on your surgeon. My surgeon allowed full liquids to include pudding, jello, milk, any strained soup, thinned cream of wheat and/or grits, water, crystal light, etc.

    Any Tips

Yes, I have experienced the same thing and I am 7 weeks out. I went through the standard 3rd week stall and started losing again; however, I have hit another stall and am hoping that my body kicks in and starts losing again. I hate these stalls - they are the worst feeling ever especially when you are only taking in 600-800 calories. Good Luck to you! Let me know if things start moving for you again. I'm hoping soon for myself...
  7. Looking good - keep up the great work!

    Bad Day Today!

I have had a day just like this...overeating (frequency not quantity). I just need to saddle back up tomorrow and move on, not get down about it. Everyone has bad days - we can have better days by stepping up and doing what we need to do starting tomorrow. Good Luck!

    Sf Syrups...in Da House!

They are just sugar free syrups you can add to Protein shakes, coffee, etc. to add flavor and/or enhance the item. If you want to try them, they sell them at Home Goods, Cost Plus World Market and many other places.
  10. Need some advice: I am 7 weeks post-op and have been released to a restriction-free diet and let me tell you...I am hungry all the time. Nothing really seems to fill me up and I feel like I am eating pretty much every 90-120 minutes. I don't know if it is head hunger and if it is how do I break the cycle? If it's not head hunger what can I eat that will fill me up and keep me satisfied? Protein doesn't seem to be working. Also, I can eat about 8-10 ozs. at a time and this seems like a lot to me. Please help! I don't want to sabotage my efforts so far and stop my weight loss and/or heaven forbid gain weight. HELP!!!!

    Puree Stage - Recipe/ideas

Big Lu & CCCross, SO happy you like the recipes! I am quite the creative one in the kitchen and just couldn't stand the normal bland pureed foods for 2 weeks. If you are ever needing any suggestions, just inbox me. I have LOTS of recipes for that stage and beyond. Good Luck!

    I Need Help Please!

You absolutely unequivocally need to be getting adequate protein on a daily basis! Instead of coffee in the morning, I start my day with a protein shake (30g of protein). And about 90 minutes before bed, I have another one. This meets my daily protein goal of 60g and everything else consumed is just a bonus.
  15. People just don't understand! I have learned this the hard way too. I think the average person is so uneducated in the arena of bariatric surgery and procedures that they are not able to see how far the surgery has come in years and how advanced the medical protocols are now. Let's face it: the risk of you doing nothing is far higher than the risk associated with the surgery! If you choose not to have the surgery done you will be staring down numerous medical co-morbidities and serious health related complications. I don't talk to people much about the surgery and/or how much I eat or pre/post op diets. It just becomes overwhelming to people who don't get it. Also, I feel that those same people tend to be judgemental about it and think this is the easy way out or that you have given up. Best to keep it to yourself and do what you need to do to lose the weight (cold hard fact). Once you lose all your weight, people will be wondering (oh so interestingly) what you did to get so healthy.
  16. Try increasing your calories. I know it sounds crazy but it works. If your body has acclimated to the 1000 calories a day it may need a bit more fuel to kick in. This has been recommended by my nutrionist to several people and it works. Just try increasing your calories to about 1200 a day and see if that gets the party moving. B/C you are doing so much more exercise, etc. your body may need the caloric boost to realize it will not starve to death if it lets go of the excessive weight. Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress!

    Hypothyroid

I am hypothyroid and currently take 150 mcg of synthroid daily. I had surgery on 10/3/12 and am currently down 27 pounds. It is going great - no issues and truly believe the sleeve is the best thing I have EVER done for myself. Good luck to you!

    Leaks

My surgeon told me 98% of all leaks occur in the first 30 days; however, you could have a leak issue after that but HIGHLY unlikely. Just make sure you follow your surgeon's protocol for reintroducing foods, quantity, meds and liquids. You should be fine.
  19. I have Cigna Open Access and got approved first try and within 5 days. Hubby just submitted to insurance about a week ago too and they came back with approval within 5 days too. I don't think the 3 month results from Weight Watchers will work. They are looking for 3 months of consistent monthly check-ins with your PCP following a doctor supervised diet. Good Luck!

    What Do You Eat?

I try not to overthink it - but I usually try to eat nothing with more than 10g of carbs and 10g of sugar.

    2# A Week?

2 pounds a week is very realistic and healthy! I say "be happy for any loss instead of a gain!"
  22. I only weigh myself on Sundays. It keeps me focused on the task at hand and it is always a surprise on Sunday when I am down a few more pounds!

    For The First Time Ever!

Awesome! I agree with you. I was sleeved October 3rd and am just now realizing that clothes are starting to get pretty baggy. Such a great feeling. I discovered a consignment shop in my town and have started shopping there. Great deals and what clothes I have shrunk out of I get store credit for. Super good for me! Also, I am not sure how thrifty you are or want to be, but I find that some of the Goodwill stores and/or Second Hand stores in higher end suburbs have great choices in clothing that are VERY gently used. I agree....I am not paying hundreds of dollars on clothes that I am going to wear for maybe a month or two. Hooray for getting cute dresses for $13 or less! That my friend, is a super bargain. Let me know if you find other great deals out there... Take care!

    Finally Understand Labels

I HATE food labels! They are so hard to understand and decipher what they mean and how many grams and how many calories and what type of ingredients - ugh! I certainly wish there was a simpler way to make it easier for everyone. As Tom Brokaw used to say: "It is the fleecing of America!" No wonder we have an obesity epidemic in America. I personally think the school systems should be focused on Nutrition classes for all children. Ok, getting down off my soap box for the night...
