Rojasanoll got a reaction from Hazeleyes1969 in How Many Months Post Did It Take To Hit The -50Lbs Mark :)
I hit it in four months. But 6 sounds about right. I lost 34 pounds in 2 months on Protein shakes and a light dinner salad before surgery (Aug6) And 24 pounds the last 2 months after the band.
Everybody loses weight differently, and remember its loss, not gaining. So everybody wins!.

Rojasanoll got a reaction from niseym in What do you think Re: liquid diet
i've been on 1250-1260 calories each day. My body and brain have adapted to this total quite well. Some days maybe only 900-1000, 2 liquid Protein drinks for Breakfast and lunch, a large bowl of vegetable Soup for dinner with plenty of spices for flavoring. If I know I may eat a bit over my calorie amount ( a special weekend event/function) I tend on Wed to Fri stay tight on 1000 calories or so. This is like a built in treat for the event.
Just remember the pain and any suffering in getting ready for the "band". Stay on course and Do it Right!
Best wishes and Keep the faith.

Well, I only see my doctor about once a year now. Im close to level in the band. Now and then I do not feel restricted which tells me I can slide. I use this tool like a wand is waving in front of me and I tell myself eat properly when this happens. In two years Ive only gained about 5 pounds as my biggest gain back. Then I go back to all liquid diet for about 4-5 days and it triggers me back in shape.
The only preparation I do is when I'm going out on a weekend where ther are eating parties, Thursday/Friday I drink Protein shakes and a banana to prepare myself. Enjoy my weekend, weigh myself, then Monday/Tuesday 2 out of 3 meals are Protein Shakes.
    Seems to work for me.
Best wishes and Keep the faith.

When this happens to me, I go back for 2-3 days max on liquid Protein Shakes and some lowfat greek yougurt. Maybe some light Soups or chicken broth with some spices added for flavor. It jump starts my body and then I start losing weight.

I had a bit of gas but a heating pad helped alleviate the gas. I drove my car the next day and attended a diet meeting in our nearby hospital. Some people were shocked that I drove and felt fine during my introduction. I had a lapband and the surgery was easier than the others.
Best wishes and Keep the faith.

Go back to liquids only for 5 days then to light foods, yogurts, Soups, small bites of food for another 5 days. YOU will lose weight get the pouch to get smaller and continue on your journey.
WE all drop off being strict on our diets, but just adjust when you discover what you are doing. Lapband doesn't change our old brains & memories of all the good but bad foods we ate in our past.
Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

Check your Vitamin D and Calcium levels witha blood test. Your doctor should be monitoring your blood. I do take Potassium for leg cramps and it seems to work for me. Bananas, cantaloupes all good potassium sources.

You must be patient. It takes time to understand what you can eat. All of us are different. There is not a food that all of us like or can eat. We must try and see what works for us. Understanding how to eat and how much each meal is imporatnt for the future. Give it time!

When I had my surgery they all recommended for me to crush all my pills and mix in applesauce. But I did thsi for first 6 months after and then I went back to breaking the big pills in half an dusing lots of Water to swallow. I've had NO impacts. I still use chewables in my mineral and Vitamins. I was prescribed liquid vicodin right after surgery and I only used 1 tablespoon the first night to help me sleep. I didnt need it after 24 hours. In fact I drove to a weight reduction metting at my local hospital the next day after my lapband surgery.
But everybody is different in recovery. But our common goal is basically the same, better health and lose weight.

I'm surprised that your psychologist would say this. He's not a trained doctor for lapband or any surgery. He only deals with moods, thoughts an feelings. He must be thinking of a gathering of information after someone has a lapband put inside them to make this kind of decision. Your surgeon and maybe with your dietitian knows what may work for you.
I had a Allergan lapband installed about 2 years ago. I've had NO issues.
    Best wishes

It takes our bodies a bit of time after the surgery trauma for the band to work. You heal for a very long time and your stomach slowly adapts to this device around it. Just follow your doctors directions on what to eat and introduce more Protein into your diet. The weight loss was slow at first for me, then it just happened.
Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

Rojasanoll got a reaction from Leepers in I want a fill!
Some doctors start off very slow and introduce a "fill" every so often. My doctor does not fill if I lose 8 pounds a month. He feels that is a good weight reduction and he wants to make sure that I am eating in proper fashion. Not too fast or not too slow. We all have to retrain our brains in what and how we eat for our healthy future. We can't live with our past eating habits or the Lapband will NOT work very well.
Hang in there and be patient with your band. It does work!
Best wishes and Keep the faith.
